I have provided financial support for TRC because I support their mission to provide support and teach life skills to those who were homeless. I learned a lot about the history of TRC and how they were integral in preserving the history of the previous Wabash YMCA. The Wabash YMCA provided a safe place for the community to gather and grow physically, mentally, and spiritually. TRC extended YMCA's mission to support the community by providing resources and teaching residents life skills to strengthen them to be self-sufficient.

With the help of The Renaissance Collaborative's (TRC) Programs and Staff since 2015, I am now poised to leave TRC 2024!

Interning at TRC was one of, if not the most, rewarding positions I have ever had. The people who work there genuinely care about the people they are trying to help and invest in their community which in turn the community invests into them. From the security guards to the board members, TRC has a welcoming, caring, and helpful staff. I worked with TRC during their annual fundraising event and there was so much detail out into everything to make it come together as well as it did. Having local business participate in their auction to help showcase them while also raising funds to help them shows how they care about the community they are helping. They also recognized two community leaders during this time which she’d a spotlight on other people in the community who are doing good work to accompany the good work TRC is doing. TRC was also special to me because of their history. Located in the former Wabash YMCA, TRC is committed to embracing the history of the building and even offered tours that guided participants through the building while also informing them on the history. TRC truly deserves all the praise and recognition for the work they do to uplift the community in Chicago.

TRC is doing great work for the community and their residents, and the mission reflects the historical reason that location was established. A place for community, cultural enrichment and to help those in need get back up onto their feet.

I worked for this organization as a volunteer manager and honestly it was awesome getting to know the residents and contributing to something greater than me. TRC provides wrap around services that attempt to elevate the whole person and not just individual parts. The community is very lively with support for each other being the chief characteristic the community itself has to offer! GO TRC NOW AND FOREVER.

The Renaissance Collaborative (TRC) is one of the most beneficial organizations in the Bronzeville neighborhood of Chicago. The Renaissance Apartments were developed to provide supportive housing for individuals that were formerly experiencing homelessness, and include services through the form of classes that help ensure that they have the necessary tools to live a self-sustainable, healthy, and happy life. Senior Village, their other affordable housing unit, provides seniors in Washington Park with an affordable option to live an independent life within a community of their peers while also reducing the barriers and struggles that come with aging. I have worked in both of these locations and can say first-hand that the staff members at TRC are truly wonderful individuals that are committed to helping improve the health equity of their communities. I hope to see TRC not only sustain but increase their revenue sources to expand this work to the many other neighborhoods that would benefit from their work.

As a former volunteer of TRC, I can confidently say that their impact in the Chicago housing arena is REMARKABLE! From supportive services to expanding intergenerational elderly care... thank you TRC for all that you do!
