I first came to know TPC when the non-profit I worked for sought and received funding through TPC's grant program. The funds were transformational as we launched and grew a program serving survivors of domestic violence. Now, I'm in my second year as a member of TPC, and am so grateful for the opportunity to see - from the inside - the work TPC is doing to become a more inclusive, trust-based, equity-focused funding organization. As a non-profit professional, I can say that TPC is the only funding circle I know of that is so introspective and reflective about the role funders play not only in advancing social change, but also in sometimes undermining that very change we seek. As a member, I am provided with opportunities for learning, resources for engaging, and an arena for building relationships that are fulfilling both personally and professionally. In short, I am proud to be part of an organization that is learning and evolving as it advances critical and innovative social change work throughout Greater Boston.
Joining this women’s giving circle of philanthropy minded individuals has been one of the best choices I have made to enrich my understanding of and involvement in philanthropic giving. This organization focuses on giving to greater Boston area non profits within the route 495 perimeter, annually awarding $250,000 to 10 deserving small non-profits, involving their total membership in the rigorous review of all grant candidates and the voting on which organizations receive the grants. We know where our money goes and know how it is spent! You can’t get any closer to giving than that! And if that’s not enough, their educational offerings and volunteer opportunities that support past and present grantees brings exceptional depth and understanding to the word philanthropy.
Being a TPC member is an incredibly rewarding experience. I've been able to meet so many wonderful women who are like-minded in their steadfastness to make meaningful progress in dismantling systemic inequities through collective giving.
I joined TPC in 2018 to build a network within the Boston-area non-profit sector; my experience has been so much more than that The incredible non-profits that TPC supports inspire me; the amazing and diverse woman I meet at events inspire me, the thought provoking educational events inspire me, the strategic goals to address system inequities inspire me, and so much more. This is a great organization!
I became a member of The Philanthropy Connection (TPC) about 5 years ago. Being part of an organization made up entirely of women is inspiring and rewarding. TPC is well-run and provides an excellent opportunity to leverage my personal donation to have a tremendous impact. You get to know a variety of non-profits through our grant program and a range of volunteer opportunities.
TPC is not only supporting non profits in greater Boston, the org supports its members through lectures, direct service, a terrific racial awareness challenge and so much more. I have been a member for 6 years and am constantly learning about amazing non profits while sharing ideas with an incredible group of women. I can't say enough positive things about TPC!
I have been a member of The Philanthropy Connection for several years -- it is a great way to learn more about philanthropy generally as well as the terrific work being done by so many non-profit organizations in eastern MA. TPC's members are fantastic and it has been wonderful to get to know so many new people -- I highly recommend TPC!
I joined this terrific giving-circle years ago to learn more about local non-profits, when I was looking for volunteer opportunities. My interest and involvement has expanded to include serving on a grant selection team and attending events where I have met many like-minded women. I've learned more about philanthropy and the non-profit world, as well as had a place to discuss issues of race and equity in those realms.
I joined The Philanthropy Connection (TPC) in 2017. I have been a part of many different nonprofits in various roles in the past decade, but TPC has provided the most consistently meaningful experiences.
I was first attracted to this org for the collective giving aspect, so my dollars could be amplified into something much bigger. I stayed with the org for so many other reasons: access to an amazing community of diverse women, educational events to broaden my knowledge and understanding of a wide range of topics, direct interaction with various nonprofits, deeper understanding of philanthropy and grant making, and leadership opportunities.
I have been a member since 2017. During my time, I have been able to network with incredible women, volunteer with local nonprofits, and gain an understanding of the collective giving model.
This is a great group to join if you want to get involved with the Boston community, learn about incredible local nonprofits, and connect with interesting, dedicated women of all ages. I always learn something new from the events and the yearly grants process.
