Mission: Our mission is to serve both sides of the leash and create a community where all pets have a healthy, happy life. Our purpose is to create opportunities for education and compassion to eliminate animal abuse and strengthen the human-pet bond. We achieve this by executing effective programs to help our municipal animal shelters better serve their communities to: Improve the quality of pet food available to the underserved in our community, reducing their food and veterinary costs Reduce shelter intake and associated taxpayer spending Help elderly, disabled, and disadvantaged residents keep companion pets The Pet Compassion Centers has chosen as our mission to support area shelters throughout the Mid-South by providing pet food and supplies, surgical services, placement options for cats, and eventually temporary boarding for dogs with confirmed pathways to approved organizations. We feel that helping our already overburdened shelters with their work is the most effective way we can play a role in building compassion and ending preventable euthanasia in our community for good. The Pet Compassion Centers currently support shelters in Shelby, Tipton, Lauderdale, Haywood, Dyer, McNairy, Crittenden, DeSoto, Tunica and Marshall counties in the tri-state areas and will add more this year for those meeting requirements.

If you’re looking for a true hero in animal welfare, look no further than Cindy and her incredible organization, The Pet Compassion Center. Cindy is a force to be reckoned with—a tireless advocate for animals and a passionate champion of spay and neuter programs, TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return), and rescue efforts that go far beyond the norm.

Through her 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Cindy has transformed the lives of countless animals, working not only to rescue and rehabilitate but also to prevent overpopulation through effective community outreach and education. She is relentless in her mission to help animals in need, often going the extra mile to find solutions where others may see obstacles.

One of the things that truly sets Cindy apart is her ability to think outside the box. Not only does she rescue animals, but she’s also partnered with Greater Good to provide vital support to shelters, rescues, and food banks. This partnership has allowed her to offer low-cost food and supplies, helping keep countless animals in homes and out of shelters during times of financial strain. Cindy’s dedication and unwavering commitment to improving the lives of animals are truly inspiring. A few months ago, my son found an abandoned kitten in a parking lot. The kitten was meowing loudly, clearly in distress. Unfortunately, we couldn’t keep him, so we began searching for an organization that could help. My son reached out to The Pet Compassion Centers (formerly Kitty City, Inc.), and despite the late hour, they graciously took him in. The team provided immediate veterinary care for an issue with the kitten’s eye and kept us updated on his progress until he found a loving home. I highly recommend this organization for their compassionate and professional support.

My personal experience is higher than five stars. Cindy, the head of this project is completely involved with the care and well-being of the kitties and all the people that volunteer to help are kind, warm and loving and willing to give the best every time.

What impresses me more is how the Pet Compassion is an oasis for many strays, feral or needed cats from owners that can't afford the right care for their pets but are willing to adopt onces the PCC does all the procedures.
This is a place that community needs; not only for the help they give to people but for the commitment to also educate and improve stray and feral colonies.

Volunteering at The Pet Compassion Center has been an absolute blast! I’ve seen firsthand the incredible dedication and hard work of this amazing team. They truly care for feral cats and support local shelters, making sure these animals get the medical care they need. The Center’s unwavering commitment to assisting stray animals in getting spayed and neutered, followed by their preparation to find loving homes, is a significant victory for both the animals and our community.

I had the amazing opportunity to help with a rescue mission for a feral mom cat and her three kittens. The family had been living in a dangerous area near busy roads. The Pet Compassion Center team worked super hard to safely catch them and bring them to the center. They carefully gave them medical care and lots of love. The mom cat got spayed and later released to a safe place where she could live with other cats. The kittens were taken care of, socialized, and eventually found loving homes. Seeing these lives change, knowing they had a chance to live happily, was so heartwarming and showed how much this center does every day.

I’m so proud to be part of a team that works so hard and treats every cat and shelter partner with respect and compassion. Each member of the team is dedicated and makes a real difference. I highly recommend The Pet Compassion Center to anyone looking to support a nonprofit that genuinely cares for community cats and shelters. Thanks a bunch, Pet Compassion Center, for all that you do!

Cindy and Pet Compassion has been the saving grace during Memphis Animal Services troubled times, noteably spring and sumner 2024 when MAS had no vet and they were searching for a new shelter director.

Cindy helps cat fosters with medicine. Her clinic does spay and neuter for foster cats, once again performingbsurgeries when MAS could not.

I cannot thank The Pet Compassion Centers and Cindy Dewey enough for the incredible support they've provided me as a foster for our municipal shelters. Recently, during some challenging times, Cindy and her team stepped up and offered essential help for several very sick kittens in my care. Thanks to their expertise, care, and dedication, every one of these kittens not only survived but found loving homes. Without the intervention of this nonprofit, I truly don’t think they would have made it.

The Pet Compassion Centers have been an irreplaceable resource for both animals and their owners in our community. Not only do they help animals in crisis, but they also provide support for owners by making essential vet care accessible and even helping with accessibility within their homes. Their spaying and neutering services are done with exceptional skill and care, further showing their commitment to the welfare of our pets.

Cindy Dewey and her team have made a lasting impact on the community, and I wish more people knew just how much they do for us. I have only good things to say about Cindy Dewey and The Pet Compassion Centers, and I’m so grateful for everything they’ve done for these animals—and for me as a foster.

I've been so impressed with The Pet Compassion Centers. I've reached out to them a few times now for help with spaying and neutering community cats in my neighborhood, and they've been amazing each time. It's clear they really care about making a difference in the lives of animals, and they go above and beyond to make these services accessible.

What I appreciate most is that they don't just focus on pets with homes. They understand the importance of TNR (trap-neuter-return) programs for controlling the feral cat population and preventing unnecessary suffering. The vets are incredibly skilled and efficient, and they treat every animal with kindness and respect, even the scared and feisty ones!

Knowing that organizations like The Pet Compassion Centers exist gives me hope. They are truly committed to creating a more humane community for all animals. If you're looking for a way to support animal welfare in the South, I highly recommend reaching out to them.

Pet Compassion Centers do an amazing job of helping rescues spay and neuter their animals.
The vets there are skilled and compassionate.
Only one other clinic in the city offers low cost spay neuter but they don't come close to doing the volume that Pet Compassion Centers do. The city offers no funding or vouchers to help with this. Overpopulation is a tragic reality in this city and without the efforts of PCC it would be much worse.

Cindy and I have worked together since 2015. She has always had a passion for helping cats in need by going to the source of the issue: by directly helping pet owners in our community with spay/neuter (and so much more!) and tackling the immense need of trap-neuter-return. Our area is overrun with unwanted pets and Cindy has relentlessly worked at TNR over the years, through Kitty City Inc, and now via The Pet Compassion Centers. Cindy is also an endless source of information for those who volunteer to do rescue work. Even though I have been involved in rescue in some capacity since 2013, I've learned a lot from her. I have fostered many animals over the years and am currently fostering a cat for her now. Cindy has gone above and beyond to make sure my foster, who had some significant issues when she first came to The Pet Compassion Centers, is happy, healthy, and comfortable for the time that she's here in my home. Please consider fostering for The Pet Compassion Centers or donating directly so that more cats can be helped.

With a relentless commitment to Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) in feral cat colonies, they tackle the root of the issue, preventing suffering and curbing the cycle of overpopulation. Moreover, they promote citizens to take the matter in their own hands by teaching them how to TNR to better care for their cat colonies.

The organization's impact radiates beyond local borders. By providing accessible spay/neuter services, they empower pet owners, preventing abandonment and fostering responsible pet care. Collaborating with private rescues and shelters, the Pet Compassion Centers actively contribute to the reduction of euthanasia rates, ensuring adoptable pets have a chance for a brighter future. Through strategic partnerships, they extend their reach nationwide, orchestrating the transportation of adoptable pets to areas where forever homes await.

The Pet Compassion Centers embody the transformative power of compassion and collaboration, uniting communities and inspiring positive change. In their tireless efforts, they've become a driving force for the well-being of animals in Greater Memphis and beyond, creating a ripple effect of compassion that resonates across borders.

As a volunteer, I am immensely proud to contribute to the Pet Compassion Centers' mission. It's awe-inspiring to witness the relentless effort and love that every individual in the organization pours into helping animals. Together, we are making a tangible difference, creating a world where every paw finds the care, compassion, and love it deserves.

Their tireless efforts to prevent pet overpopulation and placing cats in forever homes is really making a difference in the Greater Memphis area. They firmly believe that only if a community comes together can we make sure that cats stop suffering in the streets. They promote community involvement in TNR programs, offer low cost spay/neuter clinics, they partner with rescues across the country and even fly hundreds of cats to other states where they have better chances to find a home. I volunteer for this nonprofit. The founder pours her blood, sweat and tears into this very worthy project. She works 7 days a week and long hours. Her organization has already spayed and neutered over 3,300 cats in two short years. This organization also receives pet food from The Greater Good which is then distributed through projects like MIFA and Midsouth Food Bsnk to help reach out to pet owners who have had a hard time feeding their pets. These owners usually would surrender their pets or feed their pets with the food meant for themselves. In this day and age programs like this are so incredibly needed but they can’t do it alone. They need our support! This charity really is phenomenal at what they do to support animals in the Midsouth and I’m proud to support them.

This place is awesome! Kitty City has done so much good for the feline population of the Midsouth. They have helped injured cats and have helped shelters get cats vaccinated, spayed/neutered at a very low cost. In the past you they have spayed/neutered around 2500 cats! They handle dog and cat food that is sold at a dramatically lower price to area rescues who live by the policies of spaying/neutering and vaccination before adopting out pets. They also help with arranging transports for area shelters who would have no other option than to euthanize if these transports weren’t available. This place really does so much good for the Memphis community as well as shelters in the Midsouth!!! I cannot say enough good things about them.

They are truly are caring and amazing!! We had a injuried stray neighborhood cat and they swooped right right into action to help this cat's wound, even though it was 8:30 pm on a Saturday evening!! They even neutered him. I've volunteered with other pet rescues, but they truly are the best!! Even after that cat came back to my house to heal, the checked on him regularly and when he wasn't healing like he should have they prescribed a stronger antibiotic for him and dropped it off at our house. They're even going so far as to get him and another stray cat headed to rescue out of town once the wounded cat is healed. I can't carry enough great things about Kitty City. Cindy is the best. She goes out of her way to help others and gives the best advice. We have a feral colony and needed expert advice for trapping and release.

This is a fabulous nonprofit for cats that would otherwise not get a chance of getting out of area shelters or pounds.
The organization is a new concept and I am amazed how far they have come in a short period. Helping local cats to finding better homes. Love them!!!

This organization has always helped me find solutions to help the stray cats & kittens I find. Our city is very overrun with ferals and abandoned/abused pets. Without kitty city’s efforts, this sad situation would be a lot worse. This is not only a very selfless and caring org, but a necessary one.

I work with 2 small rural shelters. We have a very small vet care budget at one shelter and no vet care budget at all at the other shelter. Last year we probably had a live release of 10 cats at the second shelter and they went out just like they came in. Cindy Dewey’s shelter oriented program has turned our shelters Cat Program around completely. We are getting cats vetted at an affordable cost, she allows us to pay as we can, and she provides us with many supplies we wouldn’t be able to get on our own, along with advice and transport opportunities. In my opinion, Kitty City Inc and The Pet Compassion Center are the best things to happen for shelter cats in our area ever. We would not be able to accomplish a fraction of our rescues without this program.

Kitty City is an amazing organization and has been instrumental in helping our small city shelter get our cats and kittens altered in a timely and cost efficient manner. The amount of animals this organization helps is mind-blowing and the city of Memphis is better by having it.

We needed help with a colony of feral cats that had their caretaker pass away. We reached out to different organizations and Kitty City stepped up to support us. They helped us with traps and training on how to trap the cats and get them them spay/neutered before returning them with a plan for care. But that wasn't the end of the story. We had to return to remove the cats later because of a situation change with the new caretaker and them being threatened. Kitty City stepped up again to help us get them placed in barn homes. Just a great organization!

I have known Kitty City for about one year. I have supported them with donations, in cash and kind. The organization is well run, and the work they do around the city is very needed.
We all need to pull together and support this group. Keep up the great work Cindy!

As a neighbor of Ms. Dewey, I have seen her passion of all animals, but especially cats. Her desire to help both stray and wild cats goes beyond standard practices. Her determination to do the best she could, led her to develop Kitty City and it’s growth throughout Memphis and Shelby county in Tennessee. I highly recommend this organization as an example of what a nonprofit should be.

Kitty City is a great asset to the city of Memphis. Through their dedicated efforts, over 5,000 cats have been sterilized. In addition, they provide food, veterinary care, and transport opportunities to local shelters and other non-profit animal welfare organizations.

In a world that is in need and has so many human charities to reach out to for help, it is difficult to find one that can offer help for those voiceless creatures in this world. So to find a great charity that offers support, physical or financial help to lesser creatures is a blessing. Kitty City Inc. does just that for the felines of Memphis. It has helped saved hundreds of kitty lives and helped many of their less fortunate guardians as an added benefit. Kitty City is a wonderful non profit but like all non-profits needs the help of donations and volunteers. I Kitty City Inc
