I heard about The Pap Corps when I turned on the CBS 12 West Palm Beach and they were doing a story on a new program they provide called Survivorship Mentors. This is a program for Pap Corps Members to be trained to be Survivorship Mentors to patients going through treatment at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer. I appreciate the Pap Corps providing support for patients and believe mental health is just as important to surviving cancer as the cancer treatment itself. I am now a donor.
I am a donor & volunteer to this nonprofit. I appreciate how hard they work to raise funds for cancer research for Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Pap Corps Champions for Cancer Research is the largest volunteer organization in South Florida. I am proud to volunteer for this organization.
The Pap Corps is South Florida's largest volunteer based non profit. Its incredible to know this organization is right in our backyard. The works these volunteers to for Sylvester and the amount money they raise is incredible.
The Pap Corps Champions for Cancer Research, founded in 1952, concentrates its primary focus on raising money to fund the more than 270 different research projects currently underway at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. Sylvester has been named one of the major cancer centers in South Florida and one of only two in Florida with NCI Designation. We are a volunteer organization that consist of 50 chapters and over 22,000 members throughout Broward, Dade and Palm Beach Counties.
This organization means the world to me and my family. Over 20 years ago my mom started the Pap Corp Chapter at Woodfield County Club. She helped raise the money to bring Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center to Deerfield Beach. Unfortunately she developed inoperable lung cancer and passed away. Woodfield continues to honor her memory with a fundraiser each year in her name “The Bobbi Friedman Memorial Card Party.”
I continue to be touched by cancer – My Father In Law passed away recently from Glioblastoma, and several friends have recently been diagnosed with breast, thyroid and uterine cancers. At one point in our lives we are all touched by cancer in some form, whether personally, a loved one, friend, relative or business associate. Our only hope for finding the cure in the future is to ensure the continuity of ongoing cancer research today!
Our vision is “to imagine and help create a world without cancer.”
I have been with The Pap Corps for several years. I started out as a volunteer and continued to a full-time employee. What led me to The Pap Corps was purely personal. I am a cancer survivor, and lost my husband and both parents to cancer. I sought out an organization in which I could give back to others the strength that I had gained - to others going through the same challenges. Over the years, I have come to know and love the volunteers who give their time, and their hearts and souls to fundraising for cancer research, most of whom are cancer survivors or who have lost loved ones to this dreadful disease. The Pap Corps partners with The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, and each year, presents a check to Sylvester, representing the funds we raised, making up a very large portion of the breakthroughs in cancer research being done at Sylvester by their amazing physicians and medical staff.
In 2018, Sylvester earned the prestigious "NATIONAL CANCER INSTITUTE" ("NCI") designation. Sylvester joins a highly select group as one of only two NCI-designated cancer centers in the state of Florida, and one of just 71 across the nation. The Pap Corps was instrumental in making this happen.
Most of us have been touched by cancer in one way or another. As we look forward to a future to eradicate cancer in our lifetime, The Pap Corps is one non-profit organization that should be on the top of everyone's list in which to donate.
I've been working for The Pap Corps since 2016, and every year that passes I become more amazed with the energy, passion, and dedication that our volunteers give to this wonderful organization. We have many members who are cancer survivors thanks to the amazing research and treatments that Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center provides, and it feels good to know that The Pap Corps helps to make that happen. Our vision is to imagine – and help create – A World Without Cancer, and I know that everyone involved is fully dedicated to making that a reality, and I feel proud to be part of the team.
From the moment I started working with the Pap Corps, i was apart of the family. The team has been so helpful and loving to me and my family. They are some of the most hard working and dedicated individuals I have ever had the pleasure to meet!
The Pap Corps is an incredible organization. Everyone involved is very kind and focused on working together to create a world without cancer. Anytime you interact with someone at the Pap Corps you immediately feel the genuine love, support and care for those individuals impacted by cancer. I have volunteered with many organizations around south Florida and the Pap Corps is one that I will continue to partner with to make a difference in our community and our world.
My mother started a chapter of Pap Corps over 20 years ago and I am a lifetime member. I love the mission and can only hope that by raising critical funds for cancer research that one day we will find a cure.
To know one day because of the Pap Corps our children will not have to experience the pain of losing your love one from cancer. This organization has saved so many lives. So proud to be part of this wonderful cause.
I got involved with the Greater Boca Cancer Unit because growing up my mother was Vice President of Cancer Care. Unfortunately, she died at 51 from pancreatic cancere. I am now at a point in my life that I can give back and hopefully make a difference in my efforts with this organization. I am now involved in a motivation group, to brain storm, and move forward into the future to find a cure for this disease.
I became involved in the Pap Corps many years ago after losing family members and friends to Cancer. After being President of the Greater Boca Raton Unit I was elected to serve as Education VP. The more I found out about the wonderful medical breakthroughs at Sylvester the more I was determined to help raise funds so a cure for cancer can be realized in our lifetime. With hundreds of clinical trials and cutting edge research msny "modern miracles" are being performed and it is because of our dedicated 21,000+ volunteers. As a "grass roots' organization we have raised between 3-4 million dollars in the past years. We are able to donate 98% of the monies raised to Sylvester for research. As a perk of membership, our members are given VIP tratment at Sylvester and the University of Miami Hospital. We have 52 units in Palm Beach, Broward and Dade counties and our fund raising activities are very popular. I am proud to be part of this wonderful charity. "Today's Research will bring Tomorrow's Cure!
