I have followed the PGK Project for a couple years. Love that they perform in various venues. The performances never disappoint - Fun, Creative, Talented.
PGK Project has taken my interest in, and love of, contemporary dance to a new level. It's an innovative group with creative choreography and young talented dancers.
I love their mission of dancing outside the traditional theater and using non-conventional spaces and arenas—retail space, old factories, plazas, and other aspects of open air.
I think it's also very important that they have an educational program that helps students of dance receive training, even when they can't afford it on their own.
I've come to know and appreciate the dancers' personal growth and professional advancement. I look forward to seeing them perform over a period of time with finely-honed movements and renewed vigor.
The group benefits from the multi-talented and creative leadership of Peter Kalivas who brings his warmth of personality and joy of spirit to his dancers and audience.
This is a group worthy of our support and admiration.
I love The PGK Dance Project! The company and apprentice company exceed my expectations with their talent and professionalism. I always enjoy watching the dancers perform diverse repertoire at various venues.
I LOVE PGK! I have personally attended almost every performance since I became aware of this Dance Company a few years ago. I have watched performances in venues ranging from the more formal stage setting of the Lyceum Theater to community centers in diverse areas, Vineyards and Beer Gardens, Art Galleries and Street festivals. What is great about PGK Project Inc. is that they take dance to wherever the people are, providing increased community support and exposure to local businesses. This approach provides opportunities for people from all walks of life to share Dance as a part of their everyday experience...it elevates the ordinary to the extraordinary.
PGK brings an incredibly talented and diverse group of dancers, and the stories they tell via equally diverse and interesting choreography, into the consciousness of a community. I have listened as both the sophisticated and more recently initiated audiences respond positively to the PGK performance experience. It is especially uplifting to hear someone say in amazement that they have never seen anything like these dancers, that it was their first live dance concert and how beautiful the performance was. They sometimes hold interactive experiences where audience members help create a dance giving the particpants a taste of the creative process...FUN and EDUCATIONAL!
PGK also offers great performances and opportunities to up and coming young talent through its apprentice company. I love the culturally diverse representation PGK demonstrates through its dancers and its choreographic stories.
I look forward to seeing more of their work in the near future.
Please follow PGKs schedule, select a venue that suits your tastes or might expand your experience. THESE DANCERS AND CHOREOGRAPHERS DESERVE YOUR ENCOURAGEMENT AND SUPPORT!

Such a great company. Composed of well-rounded dancers and diverse rep. They really bring a different dance experience to San Diego. Not only do they perform in traditional theatres, they perform in alternate spaces. My favorite one to date was at the Bread and Salt factory in Logan Heights SD
PGK is a great opportunity for dancers within San Diego and also out. It has provided consistent classes that touch base on proficient technique and professionalism in the art. Peter Kalivas utilizes his dance background to assist his dancers and students to grow.
The PGK Dance Project is a wonderful company. Their performances are entertaining and professional. The Director, Peter, creates beautiful work and the dancers are very inspiring. The company works hard to make dance performance accessible to the community, and it is a joy to be a part of the experience.
I am greatly impressed by the PGK Dance Project due to their commitment to ensuring diversity among their dancers and staff, due to their practice of taking dance to the community by presenting their work in various venues and neighborhoods and due to their high standards and training excellence. Further, I love that Peter Kalivas and his staff work very hard to provide young dancers with growth experiences in both dance and in becoming better community members and citizens.
The PGK project is a phenomenal nonprofit organization! Peter Kalivas is a great artistic director through his professional dance company that performs locally and nationally. Peter is a fantastic dance educator and leader, his work is very unique and very inspirational. The PGK dancers are all very talented and amazing to watch!! Fantastic job PGK project!
I have assisted in this organization through educating dancers and performing alongside the company. Pgk gives back to the community by offering professional quality performances a a low rate . They're outreach program to low income dancers, The Ascend project, offers free training and performances. It's a great program whiz I look forward to seeing grow further and impact more dancers.
The PGK Project is an exceptional nonprofit arts organization. Peter runs a great dance company that performs professional, unique works in San Diego and beyond through national and international touring. Aside from concert shows, the company constantly reaches out to other businesses, nonprofit and for-profit, for meaningful collaborations and exciting site-specific dance shows, creating a symbiosis between dance and the community. The overall result is that the PGK project has a meaningful impact on dance enthusiasts, aspiring dancers, and, most importantly, a huge audience largely unexposed to contemporary concert dance.
