Accomplishments: favorably settled our lawsuit over the no-otter zone. Fielding of over 100 trained volunteers to monitor marine protected areas.
water quality - activities: reviewing and improving upon municipal storm water plans. Reviewing and improving agricultural discharge regulations, and protecting riparian and wetland habitat. Accomplishments: continued long term involvement and leadership on the issue of agricultural discharges.
oil-activities: review of oil spill response plans. Monitoring of tanker and container ship transits along the central coast to ensure compliance with vessel traffic lanes. Advocating for better enforcement of vessel traffic lanes. Accomplishments: planning for 2012 oil spill response workshop, advocated to coast guard and monterey bay national marine sanctuary for better enforcement of vessel traffic lanes. Supported alternative energy solutions.
