I first heard of The Orangutan Project two years ago, when l did a Fundraising trip to Sumartra. The funds were for T.O.P, but i didn't really take to much notice of that, l was going to the jungles of Sumartra, and will be seeing orangutans in the wild! The founder of The Orangutan Project joined us. The talks Leif gave, were both informative and inspirational. We got to see first hand some of the work T.O.P funds. It was truly amazing to see the work being done and the dedication the volunteers have for the cause. I have since followed T.O.P on social media, and regulary see the good news updates, and the great works T.O.P helps to fund. Recently l have joined T.O.P as a volunteer. l have had regular contact, and am getting great support. Its quite a good feeling, to know that the non for profit l am volunteering for, do amazing work that l have seen first hand!

Many years ago I was gifted with an Orangutan Adoption (Cece) through The Orangutan Project because my partner knew how much I loved them. Since then I have had an exceptional experience with TOP, receiving updates from Leif on the work they are doing, requests for urgent, time-sensitive fundraising and good news stories. I planned my own fundraising event a couple of years ago and through this process spoke to people at TOP and other Orangutan/Rainforest protection NFP's and the feedback I got from many people is that the approach Leif and TOP take to improve the problem is smart, collaborative and effective. I am happy to be involved with TOP.

I started volunteering with this great organisation over 6 years ago. Leif Cocks - the founder is a wonderful inspiration and his passion for the cause runs all the way through TOP. Even during the Covid-19 world crisis the orangutans still need our help and everyone continues to rally around new and innovative ways to achieve both long term and short term goals.

I have been volunteering with TOP for about 2 years now. Our founder - Leif Cocks is a wonderful person with a great vision. All the volunteers put 200% into raising funds and awareness for the plight of the orangutans and other species that suffer due to many issues; especially logging of remote rain-forests.
TOP is really making a difference to the orangutans in Borneo and Sumatra - with people on the ground overseas to both administer the funds and work hands on with the orangutans.

The Orangutan Project is one of the best conservation NFPs that I know of. They are completely transparent with the work that they do. I love that they take a very holistic stance on conservation work. They support local communities to become more autonomous in caring for their surrounding environment. They deliver on their conservation targets and inspire the community to become involved in environmental issues.

The Orangutan Project (TOP), is an incredible not-for-profit that focuses on the preservation of the Orangutan species. TOP not only designs and implements many of its own successful projects but also recognises that conservation work is a group effort. TOP collaborates with other not-for-profit organisations to provide far-reaching protection to critical ecosystems in Borneo and Sumatra.

The organisation is focused on conservation work that is effective, measurable and comprehensive. By keeping admin costs low, 100% of the donations raised go directly to field initiatives. By 2019 TOP has protected over 1.1 million acres of rainforest in these two S.E.A regions. From my experience, founder Leif Cocks is extremely knowledgable and passionate. TOP volunteers and staff are dedicated to their roles; they utilise their unique skills and take the time to contribute to the organisation through the work they do in their own communities and more broadly consistently.

Over the last few years my daughter Jazzie and I have had fun working with the terrific TOP team. It’s been an amazing experience volunteering for The Orangutan Project since 2014 and educating schools and communities about TOP’s work and conservation efforts. It’s such a wonderful and critical cause, protecting the rainforest for now and future generations, to help to mitigate climate change and protect our biodiversity, including our orange cousins, the beautiful orangutans, and the tigers and elephants too. Can highly recommend this organisation who are doing tremendous work also in educating local communities in Indonesia, and helping to stop poaching and illegal wildlife trade too. Through your support of this outstanding organisation, you will be forever impacting our planet and wildlife for good!

I've been associated with TOP for a number of years. I've visited Borneo several times and witnessed first-hand the destruction of orangutan habitat (and other animals that share their habitat). The need to acquire and protect land for them for eventual release back into the wild, as well as helping all the centres caring for orphaned and displaced orangutans is immense. TOP has raised millions since 1998 and are an organisation I'm proud to be a part of. Here in Tasmania, we have a small band of volunteers that have a quiz night every year and various stalls in the north and south of the State and we contribute in a small way to supporting this great charity.

The Orangutan Project is a first rate environmental and conservation organization. Their work is compassionate and based on a deep knowledge of orangutans and the problems they are facing. It's sad and shocking that orangutans are being unnecessarily driven to extinction. The Orangutan Project is worth supporting in whatever way you can.

With charities these days, It’s sometimes hard finding out where your money goes but not with TOP, they are very transparent, professional, and proactive, which is why I’m very happy to continue donating. I’ve also been lucky enough to see their projects on the ground in Borneo and Sumatra and I was extremely impressed that I upped my donations.
Happy to support this wonderful organisation that goes above and beyond to help Orangutans.

The Orangutan Project caught my attention when I learned of its dedicatation to preservation of habitat as a foundation for preservation of species. TOP has the big picture in mind. I have been impressed by their efforts to save and rehabilitate orangutan victims of palm oil farming, and to create and preserve safe places for them and other animals that live with them to return to when they are again ready for jungle life. This is truly a worthwhile cause, and I am excited to contribute to it however I am able.

I have been involved with The Orangutan Project (TOP) since 2001. TOP supports and partners with key organisations in the field to achieve effective conservation results for orangutans including the protection of key orangutan habitats and supporting rescue and education teams. The team at The Orangutan Project are diligent and passionate about the cause and admin costs are kept very low with 100% of all donations going to our field projects. TOP is transparent to donors and sponsors and is looking for further long term solutions including the leasing of land to help prevent the extinction of the orangutan.

I noticed how fast TOP was to rescue and medicate a sick animal, as well as give 24
hour care via baby sitters. That impressed me greatly. They are undaunted in their mission to rehab orangutans and release them into jungle care, when ready. TOP continues to deliver precisely what they say they will and that makes them so reliable. I will never stop donating and have left a bequest so when I am gone, the work continues.

I've been working with The Orangutan Project for nearly 20 years now. The enormous effort our volunteers put in has enabled us to grow into the successful organisation we now are - making a real difference with measurable outcomes - meaning more orangutans saved and more habitat protected.

I volunteered for nearly 17 years before accepting a full-time role with The Orangutan Project. We operate as a business, knowing we must grow and increase income to direct to projects - we operate with an extremely low administration overhead (our audited accounts all publicly available). As an organisation we focus on our mission statement, our volunteers and our staff and people who work with us to make a difference.

The Orangutan Project was the first orangutan conservation charity that I chose to give to because of their transparency, excellent record, and working together with other organizations to rescue, rehabilitate, and release, and conservation of the orangutan’s forest homes. Not only orangutans, but elephants and tigers. They also educate the public. They are relentless in their goal to save the orangutan and their forest homes. How could you not support that?

I have always had passion for the Orangutans our orange cousins. I went to Borneo volunteering with the Orangutans and I needed to help more. It was obvious to reach out to The Orangutan Project to continue my part of helping these majestic people of the forest (the Orangutans). I couldn’t be more grateful to be a part of this fantastic project. I also have adopted Monti and this also helps all Orangutans to be rehabilitated so hopefully more can be returned to their home.

I know that the money is going towards so many brilliant projects that are keeping these beautiful creatures from disappearing. Funds are desperately needed to pay for the rehabilitation of orangutans, educating local people to care for them and help get them back into the wild. We are kept informed with the progress of the orangutans as they work towards their way back into the jungle.

I have donated to The Orangutan Project over the years, and have always found the organisation to be professional and transparent.
Most recently I donated money to purchase one of two motorbikes for the rangers in Borneo as their truck had broken down, and it was wonderful that I actually received a photo of the rangers to show that the bike had been purchased! This motivates me more to help. In fact I am going to Borneo later this year.
I also volunteer with TOP and I am proud to do so.

With so many wildlife rangers employed to protect from poachers and loggers, it is little wonder that TOP continues to attract donors and volunteers from around the world. The Orangutan Project (TOP) is a highly effective organization making dramatic investments in saving orangutans and rain forest. As a board member and leader of a TOP chapter, I can say that TOP continues to leverage limited funds responsibly and in a multi-pronged approach to save forests and biodiversity through supporting partner organizations in the field. More funding is needed to continue the work needed to insure the long-term survival of the species and their rain forest home.

The Orangutan Project (TOP) is a fantastic nonprofit organisation that really understands the urgency of preventing extinction of orangutans. Our most recent experience with TOP was when we asked them to help providing our organization, Scorpion Foundation, a vehicle for patrolling to protect the newly found great ape species, Tapanuli orangutan, in Batang Toru Ecosystem in Sumatra. We asked for a vehicle but it provided us not only the vehicle but it also gave us fund for operational cost of the vehicle. They really understand the urgency of the situation of the Tapanuli orangutan-the most critically endangered great ape in the world with population of only 800 remaining.

Orangutans are now only found in Indonesia and Malaysia, on the islands of Sumatra and Borneo. Recently it was discovered that there are actually 3 species of Orangtans. They share 97% of our DNA, are highly intelligent conscious beings, just like us. Orangutans are expected to be the first of the great apes to become extinct, possibly within 15 years, because of habitat destruction.

The Orangutans Project strategy is to secure land that contains wild orangutan populations and to rescue, rehabilitate and release ex-captive orangutans to secure habitats. In protecting habitat for Orangutans, TOP is also providing habitat for other flora and fauna including Sumatran tigers, rhinos, elephants, sunbears and all the other species that make up a functioning ecosystem.

I am impressed in the way TOP collaborates and partners with all other bona fide orangutan conservation projects as well as running their own projects to achieve their goals with maximum effectives and efficiency.

Our support for TOP started with a recommendation by a friend with knowledge of the issues impacting orangutans and other forest animals and people in Indonesia, so we donated. Then we did an Orangutan Odyssey trip in Sumatra led by Leif Cocks and, despite having seen lots of photos, we were shocked to see it. I believe that the way humans are treating one of our closest living relatives, a gentle, loving and intelligent species, is an appalling commentary on the greed, callousness and short-sightedness that shames our race. The Orangutan Project is doing what it can to redress this awful situation by providing support to animals that have suffered at the hands of humans and attempting to preserve their dwindling habitat from total commercial exploitation. If we are to maintain any dignity as human beings, we should be prepared to be judged on how we protect species who are so utterly vulnerable to our lack of care for the planet we share. Please help TOP in its work to defend these magnificent creatures.

I've also visited orangutan rescue centres in Borneo and Sumatra, on two occasions with TOP's founder Leif Cocks, and seen first hand where the donations go. I would not expend my precious time and energy on a charity that was wasting money on administration or gimmicky promotions, but I know that the money we work so hard to raise in Canberra goes straight to where it's most needed. TOP's admin costs are between nine and eleven per cent, thanks to the charity's dedicated volunteers. In Indonesia the people on the front line speak of Leif and TOP with great respect and gratitude.
