My son is bi-polar and I have attended the support group for bi-polar and family members--I am a family member and was so happy with the openness and sharing of the people attending the meeting. I am doing my best to get my son to attend as I know it would be of great help to him. I am so glad that this type of support is offered and appreciate everything the counselors do to help people deal with their personal problems--including mental illness.
I JUST WANT TO TAKE THE TIME TO THANK GOD FOR MCC. It is truly a blessing in my life. I am an Ordained Minister in the Houston area. I now accept the fact that God made me gay. I am now utilizing the services of MCC for relationship counseling for me and my partner.
My perception of Montrose Counseling Center has been shaped by what I have heard from many acquaintenances over the past several years who have used their counseling services. I have always heard great things about the services they provide. In particular I have a friend who was dealing with being newly diagnosed HIV positive. He benefited greatly from the counseling support he received at MCC at a really difficult time in his life. He was not comfortable sharing his status with family or friends and therefore really needed someone he could comfortably talk with. I also know of many friends in recovery who have been counseled at MCC to great benefit. I was recently asked to consider Board Membership at MCC so I did some research and soliciting of feedback from others in the LGBT community. What I learned made it very easy to make this serious commitment to them. I think Houston is very lucky to have an organization which does so much for the LGBT community and does it so well.
