Mission: 4,000 miles of Montana's streams and rivers are chronically or periodically dewatered, meaning streamflows are reduced beyond the point where habitat is adequate for fish survival. The Montana Water Trust works to restore flow and aquatic habitat connectivity to the state's waterways. We target dewatered streams that have historically provided habitat for native fish species such as westslope cutthroat and bull trout and work with landowners, communities, and other conservation groups to develop projects that are mutually beneficial for aquatic ecosystems, agriculture, and recreation interests.
