We took our 2 female puppies in to get spayed, from the moment we walked through the door we were treated very well. They answered all our questions and we left our pups there feeling very satisfied and confident. When we picked them up we were treated again with kindness and respect. We would highly recommend this place. And thanks to the wonderful staff. Love Dale, Gerri Hella and Goose
My husband was there all day today with my dog who is struggling to breathe. He filled out the forms at 8:30 am and waited with our sick scared dog until 5pm. He went to the door several times and they promised he would be seen. Then called at 5pm to say they would not see him. He could have found somewhere else but chose to wait for help. My dog could die. They sat there literally all day and we're turned away . he can't breathe. How cruel can a person or place be? How terrible that you couldn't tell him at 9 or 10 am so we could have gotten help else where. I will tell everyone who will listen what happened today and what a cruel place this is and ask them to please not go there. I am heartbroken that my baby has to suffer not because we can't afford an emergency visit
We adopted out little Madison here, and this was a great organization to work with. Thankful for her and your organization!
I've been a dog walker/trainer for MaxFund for about 2 years. I love how dedicated this shelter is to making sure that the animals are adopted into families that are good matches. Also, the staff are well educated in positive reinforcement and gentle handling for the animals in their care. I am truly proud to be a part of this organization.
They take excellent care of their animals and provide great care when helping you decide on your future family member. Great service and even more so that they are no kill.
My mom & I have been using the max fund shelter & clinic for years. My mom adopted my boxer Crystal from there. She s a year when we got her & she was the best dog I ever had in life. She was so tender hearted, well behaved, good with children, great on a leash & soooo much more. I've used their clinic for all my animals. They work on a sliding scale which for a lot of people is a GREAT thing. It allows people to be able to give their animals the proper vet care they need. I just recently got a 6 month old kitty & I will be going to the clinic to get her her shots. I rate this shelter & clinic very good. Good job & thank you Max Fund.
My son was looking for a worthy organization to donate to for my birthday present. He knew this would be my favorite thing in the world. I am so thankful that he found Maxfund. They are incredible, caring wonderful people. They go to all lengths to find the abandoned, lost and found pets their perfect home. A very great and wonderful place and I plan on supporting them for a long time!
I have adopted more dogs through my life than I can count, from many different shelters, and no place was as dedicated to ensuring the best for the animals it cares for then Maxfund. You can tell walking through the kennels that the animals are loved and cared for by an amazing team of people. Also, I was very impressed by the depth of the application process. I could see through every step of the process that the long term well-being of the animal is Maxfund's number one priority. I have a ton of respect for this organization and I will always support them.
I love being able to volunteer at this no-kill animal shelter. My abilty to be there and volunteer is very limited, and the other volunteers are always so helpful. It a great place where you can actaully go & sit with the cats and intereact with them. You can ask the staff and volunteers about the animals, and they do their best to help. They want to help you find the right match so your adoption is a forever home.
Maxfund's dedication to the animals and the community they serve is none other than extraordinary. Nothing but respect and admiration for this place! Love them.
Maxfund does amazing thing to help all animals. I adopted a special needs senior dog from them. She is funny, loving and a great member of our ill family. If she had ended up at any other shelter she would have been put to sleep. Thank you Maxfund for taking care of Sofia until she could join us in our home!
I'd been wanted to volunteer for a pet rescue organization for several years but couldn't find one that appreciated the work I did, took great care of the animals, had a friendly, inviting environment, and made finding good homes for the animals a priority. I was always dismayed at how many local SPCAs and Humane Society branches simply let anyone take any cat or dog they wanted within minutes of walking through the door. The animals were uphappy, rarely exercised or played with, and then handed off to the first person who looked at them. So I kept looking for a better shelter. Then I found MaxFund. Their no-kill mission fits my standards perfectly. They provide medical care for any animal that comes through their doors and has a great application process for potential adopters, requiring among other things, 3 non-family references. We want the dogs and cats in GOOD homes, not just any homes! And after only 6 weeks of volunteering, I adopted one of the many dogs that came though MaxFund's doors as a skinny, scared stray - now a happy, healthy, smiling boy! Now it's been over a year and I still love this organization! The world needs more shelters with a no-kill mission, run by staff and volunteers and kind and dedicated as MaxFund's.
My wife and I were looking for a dog that would be a good mate for our other dog. We went to Maxfund and they were very helpful and supportive in the process. We found a great pet in our German Shepherd (Sofie). They even setup a meet and greet for our other dog to make sure they got along. The employees at Maxfund were outstanding. They did a very thorough check on us and called all of our references (which I think is great). I highly recommend this nonprofit to anyone in the area looking to adopt a pet.
I visited MaxFund in March of this year in search of a kitty. I had heard about their reputation and loved the fact that they are a non-kill shelter so I began my search there. I had never been in a shelter before so didn't know what to expect, but I was thrilled with what I found there! Their volunteers were amazing, the rooms were very clean and the cats seemed quite happy! I ended up falling in love with 2 cats that day and was beyond thrilled when I found out I had been approved! I also loved the fact that the volunteers were incredibly diligent in background checks, ensuring the animals are truly going to their forever home. MaxFund took amazing care of my furry babies before they found me. I will forever be grateful to them!
We've been adopting dogs (and a cat!) from the MaxFund since 2004. We so believe in MaxFund's no-kill mission that we are also volunteers and donors. It's so great to know that there is an organization in Denver that is truly committed to the no-kill philosophy, and is making it work. If you're looking for a dog or cat, please visit MaxFund. Volunteer, foster, and donate if you can, too.
The Maxfund is a wonderful organization. They have served our organization Colorado Service Dogs, Inc. in many ways, we have acquired wonderful dogs from them and they as well have done our vet work on a number of our dogs. We are very please with the staff and services they provide the public and refer quite a few people from the Colorado community to them for low cost vet care.

I have been a volunteer at MaxFund for six years. This is an amazing organization that truly cares about its animals. I have seen miracles happen here, such as the scared cat who you think will never get adopted that blossoms into a loving, social, highly adoptable cat. I have seen animals on the brink of death receive the care they need so they can live their lives and go home. Of course, all of this can be very expensive, so MaxFund really needs donations. Each animal is treated like part of the family, so the vet bills can be very high. But how can you say that an animal doesn't deserve the best care possible? You can't, and MaxFund doesn't.
I also have adopted my cats from MaxFund, and they have made my life so fulfilling. Most of them would have been euthanized at other shelters, but they got a chance at MaxFund and have brought me enormous joy and love! MaxFund is a miracle. It relies heavily on volunteers and donations.

We have adopted four cats from MaxFund over the past 4 1/2 years. Sadly, two of them have passed away. Prior to having my daughter 2 1/2 years ago, I volunteered weekly with the cats. I received great training and continued training while volunteering. As a client, I appreciated that they give the animals excellent care and give the animals a home as long as they need one. They nurse them back to health and test the animals for temperament with other animals and children. I don't know that I would adopt a pet from any other organization knowing the good work that MaxFund does.

MaxFund is a fantastic organization. They cherish the animals and find the best homes for each one they serve. In 2009, we adopted our Sophie and Miss M. Sophie is a 12 year old mixed breed dog whose owner left her with a friend and never went back to claim her. She's all about love and adoration, and we couldn't ask for a better dog. Miss M (or as she prefers The Divine Miss M) is a 14 year old cat who showed her worth the first two days she was here by clearing out the mice from the basement. From that point on, she claimed her place as queen of the house. She, too, had been abandoned by her owners when they moved. Because both of the great animals were elderly when given up, they would not have lasted at a regular shelter. I am forever grateful that MaxFund kept them until we could adopt them.

Max Fund is the ultimate "shelter" because they never give up on any animal. All are treated equal in the eyes of this incredible organization and they live the vision I hold in my heart for all living things: That each deserves an equal chance to be loved and cared for. I will donate to Max Fund every time I have the opportunity because I so believe in what they are doing.

The MaxFund has been a part of my life since 1990. The reason I originally chose the MaxFund to volunteer at was because, not only do they help injured animals with no known owners, they are a “true no kill shelter”. The animals that come to the MaxFund stay there until they find their forever home. Most of the cat rooms allow the cats to roam free with lots of beds and windows for them to enjoy. There is a room for cats with aids and leukemia and a room for the ferals. The dogs have outside areas to run and play and are walked regularly. The MaxFund is all about the animals. Pam Kammerer

When I discovered the Maxfund in 1991, I immediately fell in love with the "no kill shelter for injured animals" concept in a world where so many healthy unwanted animals were euthanized daily. It's a small place with a hometown feel in the middle of a big city. The number one priority is the animals. That they are loved. walked, petted, held, spoiled, nurtured and most especially adopted. So that there is space for one more. Because there is always one more injured, hurt, scared, lost, homeless cat or dog. If you email or leave a voicemail and you never hear back, do not take it personally. The staff and volunteers are so busy caring for and loving these animals that they barely have time to get it all done. I no longer live in Denver but when I visit, I always stop by the Maxfund to hold a cat, pet a dog, smile at the constantly ringing phone and stuff some money in the donation box. I hope you do too. Because it's all for the animals.
