The Mary Kay Foundations is exceptional for funding research for women's cancers. In 2013 awarding 10 respected doctors and medical scientist $100,000 each in cancer research grants! That is a total of $1 million.
The Mary Kay Foundations is also working to end Domestic Violence, I like that 150 domestic violence shelters have been assisted in 2013. Raising awareness, by partnering with "Don't Look Away" targeted for Teen dating violence, is a great program.
The Mary Kay Foundation uses less than 3% of donations for administrative cost, putting 97%+ towards the two causes.
What I apprecaite about this foundation from a women's cosemtic company is that they support all women's cancers. Avon, obviously a competitor, limits their research contributions to breasst cancer. A company that employs mostly women and sells to mostly women SHOULD support all women - not just the PINK ones. Thanks Mary K. for remembering everyone. Ovarian cancer strike 1 in 71 women BUT there is no early awareness test and the symptoms are subtle. Eighty percent of the women are diagnosed in the late stages and seventy percent of those women will not live five years.
