I have been serving on the Board for about a year and a half now. The courage and successes of the women are amazing, The Housing and Life Center staff are so dedicated and provide the support and connections needed as women begin their navigation towards permanent housing. Our kitchen prepares and delivers over 1000 meals each week to homeless women and other at-risk individuals in Sonoma County and is hoping to expand services in the near future. I am proud to be a witness to the impact that The Living Room has had on so many lives.

I was a participant in this non proft as a homeless teen mom. They provided me with a safe place for me and my child they fed me and assisted me with so much that I cannot even begin to thank them for. As an adult I joined the board of directors to give back. I have seen them help raise money for womens programs, help house them, and work with them to help them build a future for themselves and their children

I have been serving on the Board of this organization and volunteering in the kitchen for about a year and a half. I am proud to work with the other Board members whom I find to be passionately steadfast in their commitment to bettering the lives of challenged women and children in Sonoma County. The kitchen staff shares that passion. I love volunteering there weekly - the staff becomes "chosen family," and the quality of meals they produce for hungry participants is nothing short of astounding. When I moved to Santa Rosa two years ago, I wanted to find a way to give back to my new community. I'm so glad I was introduced to The Living Room!

I was there for volunteering for 12 hrs. It’s was my bad experience there. The first day I was asked to cut chicken and I cut my finger and asked for bandage. They give me a tiny bandage and I thought they will no longer keep me cutting chicken instead I finished whole project of cutting chicken. I was badly bleeding which is non hygienic to health. I have finger infection and still I feel numbness. So I don’t recommend any food from there. Sorry guys blood is very bad in the food and I don’t want to eat from this place.

I was first introduced to The Living Room years ago, when my mom would donate cookies, cakes and pastries for the individuals being served. Since that time, we have seen the living room grow from a day care/respite organization at the Episcopal Church into an amazing nonprofit serving the most vulnerable in our community. The work the Living Room does in irreplaceable, and so very necessary for those in need. The Life Center is providing opportunities for those in need that really can't be found elsewhere. we are proud to help support The Living Room and it's mission.

When I wake up in the morning and know I'm going to the Living Room to volunteer, I get excited. It's a place that is so special to me because I see the participants getting the help and resources they need. They are getting relief, kindness, and care at a time when they need it most. Some have dogs, others have babies, no matter, they are all welcome. The Living Room is diverse and inclusive, staff is compassionate and responsive, and they really appreciate their volunteers.

I have known about The Living Room and the wonderful work they do since almost the beginning of their 30 years in Sonoma County. A few years ago I was honored to be invited to serve on the Living Room's board of directors. As a board member, I chair the real estate committee, which oversees our properties and housing to ensure that we provide a safe and comfortable transitional home for 30+ women and children as well as strategies for increasing our work space and housing to keep up with the tremendous need in the community. I love the Living Room!!

The Living Room is an incredible nonprofit helping women and women with children navigate the issues around homelessness or risk of homelessness. To date, the Living Room has placed 20 women and children into housing. It is the only day center that is safe for women and children in Sonoma County. The food program provides more than 1000 meals per week to the homeless and indigent residents of Sonoma County. There are grow gardens on the campus that enable TLR to grow its own vegetables and herbs that are used in preparing meals. The organization is unique and its impact on the BIPOC community needing the services that TLR offers is profound. TLR deserves to be recognized as a leader in addressing homeless issues and in finding innovative solutions for their clients.

I absolutely love volunteering at the Living Room Life Center! The staff are all really kind and helpful, and I always feel comfortable asking for help or directions if I need it. My favorite thing to do there is work in the kitchen, where I make food for the clients and get to talk to them. They are such lovely women, and I feel so grateful to be able to support them in the ways that I can. Lots of touching and funny moments all the time. And I know that the Living Room makes a very big impact on their lives because of the wide spectrum of support that they offer. A truly wonderful organization!

As a volunteer for 6+ years, I have come to appreciate the time, energy and professionalism that goes into each meal that is prepared in the TLR kitchen. The chef, soups chef and staff members let us know that they are absolutely dedicated to feeding those who do not have the resources or the means to feed themselves regularly. What a wonderful and caring mission.

As a nonprofit, I feel assured that the donations that are received by TLR are well-spent. Also, the kitchen staff is adept at finding ways to augment their budget by seeking out other sources that are willing to give their excess ingredients to our kitchen.

As for the workplace environment, it’s always busy and time-driven…but at the same time, lighthearted and congenial with everyone contributing to the atmosphere of comraderie and respect for each other. Leadership in the kitchen is superb and makes me look forward to showing up each week.

The Living Room Life Center gives homeless women and children a safe place to get off the streets in the daytime. It’s a one-stop shop with case managers, social workers, delicious food, computer use, camping equipment and hygiene supplies, and quiet rooms to rest and let go of stress. The staff greets the women with seep respect. Their transitional housing gets some lucky women off the streets. The kitchen prepares delicious, nutritious meals that are delivered to low income residents and homeless housing sites. I volunteered for the living room for seven years and think it’s a great organization. I remember the joy on one woman’s face when she learned she’d been accepted into transitional housing and would be able to sleep inside again!

I've been volunteering at the living kitchen in santa rosa for over 6 months. And during that time span I've witnessed first-hand and extraordinary group of talented and caring individuals collectively creating healthy and nutritious meals for the displaced members of our community. Every weekday over 130 meals are made , packaged and delivered by the staff. Not to mention the pantry bags that are weekly forfilled and delivered to participants of the livingroom housing program. The living room kitchen is so well orchestrated it should serve as a successful template to other communities that when meals are made with love, compassion and commitment for the well-being of the community...the world becomes a much brighter place.

The Living Room is such an amazing place. I've volunteered in the kitchen weekly and the staff always pumps out super healthy and tasty meals to deliver. The people working here have such a kind and genuine personality that it's hard not to want to help out. I've seen the impact that the Living Room has on these people and it's honestly amazing to see

I have been a mother & child guest as well as sister.in.law, proud supporter of the Livingroom for several years. When the new property and building site brought personal hygiene and washer/dryer appliances with the ability to keep these guests with not only clean bodies, clothes from heavenly treasures, new clothes & the ability to wash the clothes we get!

The hot meals & the commercial sterilization dishwashing to be able
to provide healthy & safe nutrition to the at-risk of being homeless...
That the DV survivors , etc need so desperately thru their lives and beyond...

This is a huge loss to our community. The social gathering is merely a incidental benefit.
It was already a house-rule to social distance...due to the emotional well.being we need.

There were no single case of COVID19 when the Livingroom was open campus.
Primarily because the guests were able to keep clean and healthy & they are able to maintain independence thru internet & essential nutrition that our paid staff were providing as well as volunteers provided.

Thanks to the supporters who secured this property that has been
CRISIS.PREVENTION in the face of adversity.

I adore this place. It is a warm, loving cozy place for homeless women and children to gather during the day - to receive mail, to use the computer and the phone, to receive basics such as toothpaste, deodorant, soap, shampoo, feminine products and diapers, among other basic necessities.A warm healthy home-cooked breakfast and lunch is provided daily, as well as facilities such as coffee maker, microwave, and toaster for women to prepare their own small meals. Best of all, their is a warm separate room and playground for mothers and their young children (often just babies) The playground is fenced in, green, and filled with fruit trees and grass, a sand box, a slide, a jungle gym and a swing sets. The atmosphere is peaceful and soothing to the mothers, which allows them to be peaceful and soothing for their children. It is a haven in the midst of chaos in the lives of homeless women and their children. It is also a place where community and mutual support is encouraged.
