Mission: Our mission is to build a supportive community network that links youth and their families to their inner strength through life skills, education, advocacy supportive housing, and a dynamic network of social services to transform lives.
Programs: The Link operates five major programs, including: ---Lindquist Apartments: A permanent supportive housing program for homeless and disabled young people ages 16 and up. In 2007, 37 young people resided at Lindquist Apartments, 55% of whom obtained a job and increased their income levels. 55% of residents also increased their education levels, and 77% completed their lease requirements.---Project Potential: A youth advocacy and school support program for chronically truant youth and low-level juvenile offenders. In 2007, 444 youth were served by Project Potential. 77% of them increased school attendance, and 78% decreased delinquent behavior.---Building Supportive Communities: An educational program that teaches resiliency principles to reduce stress and foster innate health. In 2007, 368 youth, family members and community members were educated through the Building Supportive Communities Program. Participants demonstrated they: felt they were on top of things, saw options for dealing with stress in healthy ways, were less upset because things happened unexpectedly, and felt increasingly that things were going their way. ---Juvenile Supervision Center: The Juvenile Supervision Center provides safe supervision, intervention services, and community resource connections to youth picked up for truancy, curfew or low level offenses that do not meet the admission criteria for the Juvenile Detention Center in Hennepin County.---Community Outreach connects The Link to resources in the community to increase volunteer support and build community partnerships to help The Link realize its mission.
