I have served on the Borough Council of the Borough of Peapack & Gladstone for many years, and have served the last 5 years as Mayor. Throughout my terms in office, it has been a great pleasure working with The Land Conservancy, with which the Borough has partnered since 1999. During that year, The Land Conservancy undertook the completion of our Open Space and Recreation Plan. Our partnership has been a very successful one by any standard. With the able assistance of The Land Conservancy, we have received 6 grants for open space and farmland preservation totalling @ $2.5 million from Somerset County, and $ 5,150,000 in grants from the New Jersey Green Acres program. If state farmland grants are included, the Borough, thanks to The Land Conservancy, has been awarded $ 11,325,000 in grant funds since 2000. Thanks also to The Land Conservancy's expertise, the Borough has also preserved 154 acres of pristine farmland, and is working on additional open space and farmland preservation projects. In addition, the Conservancy has done a masterful job of updating Farmland and related Plans.

As a long time member of the East Hanover Environmental Commission, and 2011 Chairman, I can honestly say that The Land Conservancy of New Jersey has been one of the most valuable assets our township has. As a partner working together on our vision to enhance the community with every opportunity to take advantage of open space, historical recognition, environmental protection, planning, mapping, grants and communication, the conservancy, and in particular Barbra Heskins Davis have been spectacular. The fact that we unanimously contract yearly, at as I see a bargain rate, and that rate having not increased in 5 years is in itself testimony to their willingness to work together for our long term goals. The list of accomplishments is something our township can be proud of. The support, intelligence, expertise and professionalism of this group of dedicated individuals are second to none. I have asked them for much and have always been appreciative of their continued ability to be there and make things happen. I have learned much from them and it is a pleasure working with them. Above and beyond my township, my kudos to them has been expressed to others often at all levels of our County and States Representatives.

The Land Conservancy of NJ is a dynamic and dedicated team of individuals, who work with the utmost professionalism and inspiring success rate. I have personally been involved, have seen their staff in action with my own eyes, and would be happy to partner with them again.
