As a Board member, it has been an honor and a privilege to join in the fight to end period poverty among Native Americans in North America. I hope you will visit our website to learn more about our mission and see all that we have accomplished in just 2 years. Our work has been made possible by the support of dedicated volunteers and generous donors (hopefully to soon include you!) . With their help, we have provided period supplies, underwear, and puberty education books to our partners. Also, in response to the pandemic, volunteers have sewn hundereds of colorful masks that we have offered to the communities who need them. Along my journey with The Kwek Society I have been inspired by everyone I have met, and, if you join us in this fight, you will be too!

As a Board member, I travelled with Founder Eva Carney to the Central Consolidated School District located in the Gallup to Farmington, New Mexico area in Spring 2019 to see the impact of The Kwek Society program on the girls receiving period supplies. I was impressed with the impact this program has made in the lives of these students, and in such a short period of time. Hopefully our efforts will lead to period supplies being offered in all schools nationwide, just as is toilet paper. Until then, the Kwek Society will provide support to Native American girls.

The Kwek Society gets straight to the heart of issues that support the needs of communities with a focus on Native American women. More education is needed about period poverty and the challenges faced by many — even in your own community. The issues include access to supplies, affordability, and education. These challenges have downstream impacts such as missing school days and lead to larger educational inequities. I am glad to be a board member to help make a difference. Kathy Webb

As a tribal education director and The Kwek Society board member, I have seen the impact of the organization from a governance and community standpoint. What a gift to provide dignity to young Indigenous women while educating the larger public about this issue. I appreciate that the The Kwek Society actively pursues new school partners and maintains responsiveness and timely deliveries. I always feel confident referring a school to The Kwek Society because I know that they will be well-taken-care-of!

The Kwek Society is a strong force pertaining to the issue of period poverty. Our school district serves a large Native American population and the grants of moontime bags have helped these students be more present in school as well as open doors to more conversations educating young students about puberty. The Kwek Society provides so much more than just grants, they are encouraging and share their expertise to expand services to all menstruating students in various ways.

The Kwek Society has been a game changer for many of our students. Because of the Kwek Society’s donation of feminine hygiene products and moon time bags, our students no longer have to worry about not having the supplies they need during their menstrual cycle. Sometimes the lack of enough hygiene supplies kept students from attending school regularly. We are grateful that the Kwek Society has given the young women in our district the confidence and security they need to be successful at school.

The Kwek Society has been a wonderful partner for our school. The period products they provide to our young Navajo students are so needed by the girls. We live over 75 miles to the nearest town and having the products at school are so beneficial and easy for the students to access. During the pandemic we deliver the supplies when we deliver daily meals. The girls are so thankful and appreciative. The Kwek Society's generous spirit is a real gift to our children! Thank you!

Gedakina would like to thank you for the Moon bags and supplies. They came at a time when Covid -19 had closed down everything for us. Every place was closed down, many reservations in Maine do not have stores on the reservation, so getting to a store for supplies was difficult.

When we received the moon bags from you we purchased a book called Moon Time Prayer by Cindy Gaudet and Illustrated by Leah Dorion to go with every bag. We mailed the book and the bags to the girls. They were so excited and the supplies were so needed!

Thank you to the Kwek Society for all of your help!

At a time when our country was in turmoil with a pandemic, and paper goods, cleaning supplies were scarce, Kwek Society came though with supplies for our girls. It was a relief for our girls to not have to worry about where they could get their personal supplies, when trips to a store were minimal and distant, as there are no retailers on the reservation. But what they loved the most were the hand sewn Moon Bags that they could discretely carry their personals with them. They were in their beach bags this summer, and will be in their back packs for school. We are forever grateful to The Kwek Society.

I can't express our gratitude enough for the Kwek Society! They have gone above and beyond to help our young female Native American students to have the supplies they need; helping these young ladies to focus more on their education with less worry about whether or not they are going to have the supplies needed to handle their menstrual cycle. The Kwek Society has not only supplied our Native American girls with pads, tampons, and educational materials they have also provided moon time bags to make transporting these much needed supplies more discreet.
The Kwek Society has not only helped our young female Native American students to gracefully transition into this new time in their lives, they are helping their families to provide these much needed expensive supplies, at school. Our students know they are taken care of, thanks to the Kwek Society, and that in itself is priceless.

I am a teacher at a very small school in Oklahoma. I was first made aware of The Kwek Society last year when I was asking the public for help with students hygiene supplies. I am so thankful to have found them! The Kwek Society has sent me liners, pads, tampons and new underwear for our girls! They have also sent me mask for ALL of my students since that is now mandatory. I can not say enough great things about The Kwek Society! Top Notch!

Wyoming Indian Schools is located on the Wind River Indian Reservation in central Wyoming. We are the largest preK-12th grade school on the reservation. Partnering in June 2019 with Kwek has helped young women have access to personal health care products in the school as well as providing enough products for them to take home. During the reservation shelter in place order beginning in March of 2020, Kwek has provided not only personal care products, but also masks for not only our students but for our community during our organized grab and go food distribution program. Kwek is doing an outstanding job of ending period poverty in Indigenous communities and we are proud to partner with them!
