Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Administration of Justice, Crime & Law, Crime & Legal-Related, Human Services

Mission: The Justice Project Education Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization, works in partnership with The Justice Project, a 501(c)(4) organization, to address unfairness and inaccuracy in the American criminal justice system.

Programs: The Justice Project Education Fund (TJP Ed Fund) collects the information, provides the tools, teaches the skills, and delivers the technical assistance that state and national criminal justice reform advocates need to educate the public and advocate for laws that prevent wrongful convictions and protect the innocent. TJP Ed Fund works both directly with the national and local media, and helps others effectively get their message out. We maintain an active web site and Internet community, and teach others to do so as well. We brief policy makers and opinion leaders on the causes of ? and solutions to ? wrongful convictions, and assist state and national groups in doing the same. We build broad coalitions by creating a middle ground that paves the way for action in reforming our criminal justice system as we bring together defense attorneys and prosecutors, victims and the wrongfully convicted, judges, jurors, faith groups, civic organizations, liberals and conservatives to support fairness and change. TJP Ed Fund works closely with The Justice Project's Campaign for Criminal Justice Reform (CCJR), an organization that works directly with legislators and political leaders to prevent wrongful convictions. Through the work of TJP Ed Fund, we help create the political space necessary for CCJR to change public policy.
