The Jonah Project

The Jonah Project is an amazing organization that really invests everything that they have into the streets of skid row. They do their best bringing hope back into that hopeless place. And they are so persistent in loving these people, it blows my mind. I have served with them for a year and the things I have experienced are crazy. And they have been doing this for years now. The Jonah Project is really the oasis of Skid Row, and they are serving these homeless people and drug addicts with so much endurance and with really a 'supernatural' love. they amaze me. Respect.

This non profit truly changed my life. I got a new perspective on how people in skid row live and if the Jonah Project is willing to be down their 24/7, that shows true commitment and character. God is doing his work through these people and making a difference. They are incredible!

Jonah Project touches many people on the streets of Los Angeles...they are reaching out to the people that many would count out but not due to this team. I have seen them in action and they are making such a great impact on their area. One day because of their efforts skid row will no longer be homeless, but fully residential. And it is because of people like this.

I have seen the amazing affects of the Jonah Project as well as have a friend Volunteering in it. It is doing amazing things and is a huge blessing for the community!

I have been hearing so much about the Jonah project and how amazing it is so I decided to check it out of myself and my goodness they weren't joking. This organizataion is awesome. They help so many people l and over all that they love them. Its so exciting to see people being pro active going out and making a difference.

Our youth group Rise Up volunteered this past Saturday with the Jonah Project. It was an amazing experience in more ways than one. The Jonah Project has a great urban, artsy feel inside, and is a place of belonging for many. Many of our youth were witnessing skid row and the vastness of homelessness for the first time. The Jonah project daily makes a difference by cleaning trash from Skid Row, providing a warm meal, a new fresh change of clothing, and most importantly they share Christ's love with those in hard situations. It was eye opening and challenging to know that we were impacting people for one day, but the Jonah Project does this on a daily basis as their mission. The Jonah project is a home for those that don't have one, and they are family to many who don't have any. They are doing amazing sacrificial work among the streets of Skid Row.

The Jonah Project was awesome! I loved serving there and I loved helping out Patrick and the gang. From handing out food, cleaning up trash on the streets, and just building relationships with the people on skid row, the Jonah Project is really making a positive difference in the LA community

They are doing something different! They have a worker sleeping on the street to know what the real needs are. This is something that is needed. Finding the need and fulfilling that need. They are also connected with the Dream Center, so the homeless have a place to go if they do not want to be homeless anymore.

I was so blessed serving and loving people at the Jonah Project. This was our second trip to LA. All the high school students I work with loved going back. We served food, picked up garbage, shared listened and talked and prayed for people, sorted cloths, had had the time of our life. God is using the leadership of The Jonah Project to heal, and bring Jesus' love to this community.

The Jonah Project is reaching so many hurting people and transforming their lives! I commend the Jonah Project, Patrick and his family for devoting their lives to this amazing work by transformed lives down on Skid Row!

The Jonah Project is such an amazing outreach! It has had such an amazing impact on my life. I feel so blessed to be able to be apart of this ministry and be down there helping out and changing lives along side these amazing people! I strongly encourage anyone who has a heart for the broken people to come down and be help serve at the Jonah Project.

I have been at the Jonah Project a couple of times during my five months in LA and I am just so impressed of the work they are doing there. I had the amazing oppertunity to spend Thanks Giving with the Ersige´s family (the family who started and run the Jonah project) and at the house I met a man named Carlos. And Carlos told me his story and how he used to live on streets of skidrow and that his life is completely changed because of the Jonah-Project. They showed him Jesus´s love and that loved changed him. The Jonah-project are so loving, I´v never seen anything like it in my life, to be honest. They gave up there lives to life for the poor and homeless people in the innercity of LA, and they are making a huge diferens there!

i love going to the Jonah Project! Its always an adventure going down there and seeing all the miracles that take place there. I love the testimonies and i love being able to share my testimony to everyone there. One time we gave our shoes to the Jonah Project and it was such an amazing event!

I love this Outreach. they really go out of their way to reach the people that everyone else seems to forget. They become family to these broken people and become a light in such a dark hopeless seeming place. i actually got the privilege of giving away shoes to the people on skid row through the Jonah Project.

I volunteer on Skid Row at least twice a week. When I walk down the streets, I can't help but feel on edge. Everywhere I turn I see a different heartache and even more filth. The Jonah Project is the only place on Skid Row that I feel completely safe. The Pastors and volunteers have done an incredible job at creating a peaceful, comfortable, healthy, refreshing, and- above all- loving atmosphere. I've had multiple conversations with those who live on the streets, and they all share similar opinions. One woman said to me, "I go to the Jonah Project every time the doors are open; it's the only place my mind ever rests." It is so evident that the people not only have a deep appreciation for the organization, but they also highly respect the Pastors and volunteers at the site. Lives are being transformed because the Jonah Project chooses to operate out of excellency, integrity, and love. With more funding, the organization could make an even greater impact on the community.

The Jonah Project is EXTREMELY awesome! I love the compassion that the visionaries posses and their relentless pursuit to rescue the lost and the hurting at any cost. Since having the opportunity to volunteer with the JP my passion and compassion for God's people has increased tremendously.......Serving and loving on the homeless has transformed my life forever.... I love it sooooo MUCH....

I help out the Jonah Project weekly, i can honestly say that they reach out and show love unconditionally. i believe that what they do is a safe alternative to the streets, where many homeless people can come and experience love. this place has big dreams and needs your funding to make these dreams come true. i appreciate everything that the Jonah Project provides, from coffee, entertainment, love and a clothing store this place has it all!

The jonah project is amazing, you wont find a more humble and willing group of people who are dedicating their lives and time to serveing a cause bigger then themselves, in the middle of skid row who would think of builing a shelter for the homeless, amongst the drugg addicts and abandoned. these people care for others more then themselves and they deserve so much praise! they deserve all the help they can get and they would be so greatful and soooooooo thankful!
they are doing such an amazing act serving the part of their community that no one else cares about!

Wow the Jonah project is just such an awesome charity! I am in the movement at the dream center and we get the privilage to have the jonah project at a track were we get to go work with them twice a week and help them with whatever they need us to do. We are there to serve them and the needy out in skid row. I have always had a heart for the homeless and really am so impacted by the amount of hope they help these people find again and the love they just poor out to them. its very inspiring and i love that i get to be apart of something so life changing not only for the people on skid row but for the people who get to see the lives change out there.

I Have been around skid row a few times and it has been a very intense for me. When I am there the whole world stops, I feel no emotion. You can see the hoplessness and the sadness. People wondering around striving to keep there life. It is hard for me to be there. But to see the heart of what the Jonah Project is doing is amazing! They have had a couple worship nights down there that have been Awesome! Praying with people and feeding them you could see the light arise in there eyes, they were so hopeful! All they need is help! There is a lot of them that just need someones help and love to get back on there feet! The Jonah Project has really touched many lives just being down there consistantly, loving on them helping them and just being there for them! One by one there hearts open to Jesus!!

Jonah Project is a organization!! They have a great mission field, and are reaching out to lost souls that can be won back to Christ and they are out there giving that gospel to those who need it so that they can be saved. The people running it are very strong Christians and have a great faith in God!

I am a volunteer at the Jonah Project from the Dream Center. I go to skid row twice a week and each time I am there I leave changed by God's amazing works he is doing there. There are new changes each week. There are always new faces. All the people who are involved are so passionate about this place because they know that it is a gift from God. They want to share Jesus with all who want to have their lives changed and help them to live their dream. I am so blessed to be a part of the Jonah Project.

I have been to Downtown LA, specifically Skid Row/Herion Alley many times during both the day and the night. When I first started visiting those areas of downtown with the Dream Center, there were only the missions to help the people living on the streets. Then came the Jonah Project like a bright light was just turned on in a dark room. The Jonah Project gives hope to thousands of people each week who come and stop by. It offers others a safe refuge, an acknowledging and uplifting atmosphere, and loving people. People can play piano, just hang out on couches, talk and eat, do whatever they want to do. Jonah Project is a great place for people to come who are wanting more than drugs, alcohol, and sex. They are searching for meaning and purpose. And the Jonah Project offers just that - a way to connect with people who can help them. I strongly suggest everyone check out the Jonah Project - you are sure to leave inspire and in awe.

Two trips to the Dream Center landed our high school team at Jonah's Project. Wow! The Love, the Dignity, Prayer that is shared with so many on Skid Row. Pastor Patrick and his Team offer so much to those stuck on Skid Row LA. Unconditional Love is prevalent. Jonah's project provides hot meals, clothing, conversation and just plain help. If a charity was deserving of financial help, please let it be Jonah's project. There is so much more they could accomplish and provide for those on Skid Row LA. Let Jonah's Project be an example.

I love this program. What they are doing on Skid Row is just amazing. Hope is handed out like candy to the people. Person by person the world change because of the Jonah Project. I was Blessed to be able to go and volunteer here.

The Jonah Project is an amazing place that helps people get their lives back, but not only teaching them to get off of Skid Row but truly teaching them to live again. We send a group out to the Jonah Project weekly and the work they do there is so life changing. Visiting there not only changes the outlook for those on Skid Row, but for everyone. It is a place of real transformation.

I volunteered with the Jonah Project and it was amazing. I felt like i had a chance to make a difference when i went out and talked to people on skid row. The stories of the people were heartbreaking to hear and made me stop and think. I really enjoyed the experience and feel so blessed to have been a part if it. I would gladly work with them again.

I had the privileged to work with the Jonah Project for one night and got to minister to the people on the streets of skid row. The people who work at the Jonah Project are extremely organized and truly have a genuine heart for the people of this area. They split us into groups in order for us to be the most effective and it was amazing the testimony's that we all had at the end. The are a great organization!

My High School leadership team and I have a service project that we do every semester, and within the last couple years we've started teaming with the Jonah Project down in LA. I have personally been three times, and all the experiences have not only helped the homeless but have been truly impact full to my life as well, which I was not expecting. The Jonah Project provides a safe environment and almost like a "getaway" place for the homeless to come and gather, converse, receive free meals, obtain clothing and shoes, and encounter God.
This last week when we went to the Jonah Project, our group was divided into subgroups to help serve in different areas within the building and right outside the building. The areas that we all served in were: cleaning up trash outside and inviting the homeless in, serving food and drinks, helping pass out clothes in the closet, and just conversing with the homeless as they were there. I was in the closet helping people find the right clothes to fit their needs. One instant that really impacted my life was when we had just given out the last pair of socks that was out and an older, frail looking, bandaged up lady came in looking for some socks to have because she was always cold, especially at night. When she was told that we were sorry and there were no more socks she looked sad and like a hope had been crushed. I noticed that I was wearing a pair of warm, fuzzy socks inside a pair of Ugg boots, and my heart just ached for her. So I took off my socks and gave them to her, and her reaction will always stay with me. I have never seen someone so touched by, to us, a simple article of clothing. She kept repeating "Oh my, thank you! I am so lucky today! I have been so cold, and these will help. They're perfect!" And seeing how touched this lady was just made me want to give everything extra that I have to those that don't have any. I feel that this is what the Jonah Project is living out everyday. I feel like they are making an impact on the homeless in so many more ways than anyone can really grasp. Their ministry is really, truly blessing not only those that volunteer, but more importantly, the lives of the homeless that they're helping survive. :)

I go to the Jonah Project every Saturday and occasionaly on Fridays and I'm never not impressed by the love I feel when I first walk in. Skid Row is a sad, poverty stricken area that the Jonah Project provides temporary relief from. People get to just hang out there, no strings attached. People running the JP have a sincere heart for God, and do a great job displaying his love towards the hurt and the broken. I believe they will succeed so much more than they already have and soon will be known as a safe house and light for the ones on the streets!

The Jonah Project is a great place for people who are in need of a little extra help getting through some tough times. This safe haven is a God filed place that is doing great things in the Kingdom of God. This is truely a one of a kind ministry, that is shaking people lives at the core.

My name is Ayana, and I am a senior in highschool. This was my first missions trip, and I would have to say that I made an amazing choice. The people at the Jonah Project were so friendly and on fire for God. It was refreshing to see people who generally want to help people that are less fortunate. My time spent there was one of a kind and I will go back. Everything was organized and they always had jobs to suit everyone's needs. I also felt extremely safe in the Jonah Project member's hands.

Working with the Jonah Project totally blessed me in numerous ways. I was there with a group of about 80 total and am part of YWAM Denver. We were able to serve coffee and cupcakes (that looked delicious I might add), help the homeless pick out a new, clean outfit from the clothing room, minister on the streets, pick up trash, and just plain love on the people who don't necessarily always feel loved. What the Jonah Project is doing is amazing and radical and I hope that more people have the pleasure of working with them someday.

The Jonah Project is one of the few ministries out there, today, who really reaches out wholeheartedly to the homeless of skid row. They are incredible, and serving with them is truly eye-opening and awe-inspiring. God does great things through the Jonah Project, and He will continue to do so. I am thrilled to have worked with them, and I support their ministry, fully.

The Jonah Project is a program that really just loves on the needy and feeds the hungry and meets people where they are at. Its beyond what the regular standard of the world today. Im proud to be a part of this project.

I worked with the Jonah Project last week. Being able to join with their ministry for a short time was such a blessing to me. They are truly doing the work of Christ.

I am truly blessed with what the Jonah Project is doing at Skid Row. I have had the opportunity of serving with them with my local church community group for a few months now. Pastor Jedi and Patrick have a genuine heart to love the homeless and poor in the city of Los Angeles. They represent Christ through their own personal lives and through the project movement.
Each time I serve at Skid Row I leave with such encouragement and feel they are accurately portraying Christ and living out the gospel by sharing the good news of the Cross. The worship sessions are also exciting, young, and diverse in culture, which is extremely engaging to those living on the streets.
I praise the Lord for the Jonah Project and their testimony to God's faithfulness! Please continue with this ministry and witness to those at Skid Row.

I just got back from volunteering at the Jonah Project. These people are truely amazing! I had an awesome time helping out, and I had some fun while I was at it! They are doing what not many other people would do on a daily basis, and they are extraordinary for that. They bring love, joy and a little bit of stability to the people's lives on Skid Row. While I was there, we handed out food and drinks to people that really needed it and helped out in any way possible. They are truely wonderful people and it was a pleasure to help them out.

I cant even put into words how amazing this place is! There is so much love, hope and joy. People come here to find rest and get their needs met- physically, spiritually. To get to serve here and know the people here is a blessing!! I have seen first hand lives changed because of this place- it is unlike any other mission on Skid Row. It is WONDERFUL!!!!!

I volunteered at the Jonah Project this week. The individuals who run the project have dedicated their entire lives to serving the people who live in Skid Row. Multiple times a day the organization opens their doors to those in need and they fill those needs by providing food, clean drinking water and clothing for them. They also send out volunteers to pick up trash on the street to make the area a better place for those living in it. The Jonah Project is absolutely amazing. Everything they do is for the better of others; they do nothing to advance themselves. I wish every organization had the heart they do!

i have volunteered at the Jonah Project a few times and each time i am just totally amazing by the love and compassion that everyone there has. i love it there because everyone is just so chill and relaxed and loving. everyone has open arms and so much love for people. it is like a huge family and they make you feel like you are part of the family. i love spending time down there with them and reaching the people just by showing love. one night we went down to do a worship night on the street and they had coffee and donuts and the way they just loved on the people blows my mind out of the water. they just have this true love and heart for that area and it made me want to get more involved! i love the Jonah Project with my whole heart and soul!!!!!

Wow. i love going to the Jonah Project. They do such a good job of just reaching out to the people on Skid Row and ministering to them however they can. They seem to be very organized which is helpful for a more effective outreach with minimun chaos and such. I just love the heart behind the Jonah Project and I know that the people who run it have such a heart for the people down on Skid Row and just love them and everything that they do. It is an amazing, life-changing organization.

My Daughter is working at the Project and is really amazed at how impactful heir efforts are. Isn't amazing how a few $ and volunters can make a difference. Pant seed and someday mighty oaks grow. Seeds are cheap - plant lots.

I visited the Jonah Project with a group of friends from San Luis Obispo, where I live. It was worth a weekend trip! They are on the frontline of helping those in the depths of poverty, addiction, and hopelessness. The myriad of people in Skid Row create so many opportunities to help, but also many problems. They provide a relaxed, safe place where people can get off the streets during the day and have a meal, enjoy a conversation, and make a friend. Even more than that, the staff of the Jonah Project are dedicated to meeting the spiritual needs that are often neglected amongst the poor.

They also partner with dozens (at least) of ministries, churches, groups, and organizations, and this community creates opportunities for people from other areas to go work, volunteer, or simply visit and see what they do. This leads to many people getting involved in the rehabilitation of downtown LA. I know that their dedication inspired me to continue my inner city outreaches. The open mic night they threw this month was also a creative way to open up the venue to the community. They deserve all the help and support in the world and have done a great job with what they have. They should be open more hours each week and provide more services, and this would be possible with more funding.

Thanks for considering the Jonah Project, they rock!

I visited the Jonah Project while on a school missions trip, and the experience completely changed me. Interacting with the homeless on Skid Row opened my eyes to the struggle that thousands of people go through, and the work that the Jonah Project is doing to help them. While volunteering there I have fed, talked to, and prayed for numerous homeless individuals. The Jonah Project is an amazing organization, and I know for a fact I will be back to volunteer again.

I've been to the Jonah Project a couple of times and every time I go, I learn something new. Jonah Project really does help others and you can see it in the homeless people's faces as they lounge in the Jonah Project building. It's really their only safe place where they can relax. You can sense the love as soon as you walk in. God has really blessed the Jonah Project and with $5,000 they can really help make better the lives of the homeless.

I came to volunteer in Los Angeles for the month of November. My son Benjamin passed away a year ago, November 23, 2009. He was 10. I hadn't felt God's presence in a church service since the passing of my son. The evening I arrived in LA on a plane from the midwest, I headed down to skidrow with a group from the Dream Center to evangelize, walking through the streets. I was very frustrated with the lack of time for a real connection. That first Sunday, and subsequent weeks, I volunteered at the Jonah Project and loved it. I loved the atmosphere, they are accepting, all are welcome. I felt like if Jesus was going to physically come back and walk amongst us, that is one of the first places he would feel welcome. I don't think He would walk in and wonder what had become of His church... The Jonah Project strives to meet the needs of the whole person. They serve with a humble attitude, love people, treat them with dignity and respect. God's presence is evident there. I came in that first Sunday, expecting, who could I help, who could I be Jesus too. Instead, they were Jesus in the flesh to me.

I feel the Jonah Project is a very worthy organization. The desire of the the workers is to show the love of God to the residents of Skid Row in Los Angeles. They help meet the physical needs of the people by providing refuge, food, clothing, etc, while meeting their spiritual needs by preaching the Good News of Jesus Christ. Their love and concern for the people of Skid Row is evident in all that they do.

The Jonah Project is a place of peace in a world of chaotic darkness. A place of shalom. When one walks into the Jonah project, there is an incredible sense of God's love being poured out by the volunteers there. It's almost like walking into a library, it's quiet, warm, and very inviting. Their mission is to be a place where God's love is made tangible to the people who come in contact with the Jonah Project. The staff at the Jonah Project seek to make everyone comfortable and to share the love of Christ by just listening and praying over people. When I helped at the Jonah Project I went out with a group of volunteers and we walked the streets of Skid Row praying over people and just listening to people. I would definitely recommend the Jonah Project as a place to go and just love people. Don't expect it to be a place where you are made the center by preaching the gospel to everyone you come in contact with, but that's not the true gospel. The gospel is to love these people and build relationships with them. The Jonah Project made that clear, their purpose is to build relationships with the people of Skid Row and through that bring the gospel into these people's lives.

The Jonah Project has helped the community to become more spiritually aware and provides stability when it comes to mental issues and provides companionship.

The best time of my life since I have been sober have been at The Jonah Project. They allow me to be who I am and express myself and to work in the clothing room!

wow! this place is super cool, Gods love is so present. Everyone is just relaxed and had the option to learn about the Gospel. What is so unique about The Jonah Project is the staff, they sincerely want to know everyone and anyone. They are so willing and God is going to take that willingness and do big things!

I had the chance to go to the Jonah Project earlier this year and I was amazed by this place! The leaders of the project bring a whole new atmosphere to Skid Row! The Jonah Project is a place where homeless, hopeless, lonely people can take refuge in!

The Jonah Project does an amazing work at Skidrow in Los Angeles. They provide food, cloth and hope for the people living on the streets. I have been down there and seeing their passion for the homeless people was one of the best experiences I had so far. The people in charge are the friendliest people I have ever met and they love serving.

I got a chance to volunteer with Jonah Project in Skid Row Los Angeles. We got to help hand out food, and serve the homeless. It was really cool being able to see just how they impact the community, and see just how they are working in areas of LA that no one else would even touch! It is such an honor being able to work with the Jonah Project.

I haven't had the chance to personally work with jonah Project, but i'm involved with the Dream Center who helps with their Organization. I have been down to skid row and worked with people living in the hotels who are struggling financially. I know the love and work the Dream Center displays when their reaching the hurting, I also know The Jonah Project shows the same kind of love, and that is the love of Christ! Theres so many hurting souls on skid row and The jonah project is one of the few who invest into them.

I had a wonderful time Last August to serve with the Jonah Project. I loved going out there and praying for those living out on the streets. This experience was a life changing for me. My heart was so broken to see how the leaders at the Jonah Project serve these people everyday. They give them fresh new clothes, pick up trash and give them a place to relax and worship.

I had the pleasure of serving with this organization. I found it to be a haven for peace and rest. I came to serve, but was served instead. The volunteers were very open and kind, sharing some invaluable insights into the needs of those in this inner-city setting. I was taught that the people here are best served by being treated as if they were no different than the people "serving." The only difference was that the workers for the Jonah project had a message that those who entered needed to hear. It wasn't necessarily through preaching that this was done, but in real conversations between real people in a real comfortable environment.

I've been to the Jonah project before and it was amazing. There is so much love and compassion for these hurting people with no judgment or attitudes of superiority, just humble genuine people. Lives are definitely being changed for the better.

I worked with the Jonah Project last summer for only a few days, but the impact that the organization has had on me has been ongoing throughout this entire year. They have a burning passion for helping the homeless of Los Angeles, and they deserve all of the support they can get!

I brought a team of 15 people last summer to serve at the Jonah Project for two nights. The staff was very friendly and had a genuine passion to serve and connect with the people on Skid Row and was very helpful in making our volunteers feel welcome and needed.

Through their enthusiasm and passion for their work, our team was impacted and as we served, we felt just as blessed as the people we served.

Overall a great experience and I hope to take another team this summer.

This last January a few of my friends and I traveled down to Skid Row and had the privilege of staying at The Jonah Project. Upon our arrival, we were warmly greeted by one of the staff members and given a detailed tour of the facility. The following morning, our team awoke to the sound of conversation and the aroma of coffee. Soon enough, a huge line of homeless people came bustling in through the doors in order to get a cup of coffee and some food. I took some time to talk to a couple of homeless men and asked them about how they felt about The Jonah Project. Both of them only had encouraging things to say about the project and explained that it was so great to have a safe place to hang out at that not only provided food and coffee, but the Word of God as well. As we were chatting, one of The Jonah Project's staff members, Jedidiah, got up in front of everyone and recited a poem and thoroughly explained the gospel message. It was incredibly evident that the folks who walked in through those doors that day were grateful for all the great things The Jonah Project was doing for them.

Unfortunately, my team only stayed for two nights, but although it was short, it was an awesome experience. All of us became very close with a few of the maintenance guys who worked there and stayed there at night. Everyone we met that weekend was so warm, hospitable, and in love with Jesus. In short, The Jonah Project is like a home away from home and I am eagerly anticipating my return next month.

It's been a huge blessing to serve alongside the Jonah Project. A ministry truly reaching the lost and dying individuals of this generation. They go into the heart of LA and minister the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Thanks for your light and example.

I love The Jonah Project, they are seeing the need, filling the gap and showing the love of God. They are being a lighthouse amongst the smog! Lives are being changed down there, one day at a time.

From the physical of clothes being distrubuted, to giving out food and water, importantly meeting the spiritual needs, the preaching of the word, the music, the prayers etc The Jonah Project is doing amazing things. Faith without works is dead and The Jonah Project are living out God's Word.

I am encouraged by their commitment and obedience, the staff, volunteers and leadership are doing great things, it's such a blessing to be able to go down there and help out when I can.

They create an uplifting and non-judgmental atmosphere for those that need love and acceptance and HOPE. Going in, seeing people relax on the sofa's, people chatting, people watching tv, people listening to a sermon, with what they have been given The Jonah Project is using to the best of their ability and many are being blessed through this, lives are being changed.

Skid Row has been forsaken by many, but not by God who continues to move through people like Pastor Patrick, his wife and others who have been obedient to the call of God. God's AWESOME!

I went to the Jonah Project for the first time this last weekend and didn't know what to expect. I walked in off the chaotic skidrow into what I could only identify as the peace of God. I felt I entered a safe haven. Homeless men and women were relaxing in the warmth on sofas and listening to peaceful praise music. I was taken into "the closet", a room with donated clothes, and was able to help the men and women who needed clothes pick out outfits. It was such a blessing to come along side them and give them the dignity of "shopping" for clothes. It was great to see how the Jonah project is not only meeting the homeless' spiritual needs, but physical as well.

The Jonah Project seeks to meet the physical, emotional, social, and most importantly, the spiritual needs of the residents of Skid Row. They are a practical hands-on service that gets out of the comforts of an office, a cubicle, or a even a church and ministers one-on-one. My team was truly privileged to meet Patrick, Mary, and the other volunteers. They are positive, resourceful, and non-condemning. We were able to walk the streets handing out drinks and snacks. We were able to pick up trash off the desecrated sidewalks. We were able to pray and proclaim God's blessing over Skid Row and all the individuals that call it "home." There is a spirit of excellence in everything that the Jonah Project does. They create an uplifting and non-judgmental atmosphere for those that need love and acceptance and HOPE.

The Jonah project is a wonderful organization that is a shining light of the lord in such a dark place. They are such a great influence on the people around them and just their selflessness to give to the community in the way that they do like giving out clothes when its cold and providing shelter during their hours of operation and the whole place is run by such kindhearted people that want nothing else but to serve.

I had a blast getting to know everyone involved with The Jonah Project. I can't wait to go down and help out again!! THEY ARE ALL AMAZING!!

I was super encouraged by my time with the Jonah project. I saw a heart to serve and love the people on Skid Row. They were proactive about getting out there and talking to people, not content with just sitting back passively.

In the midst of chaos and pain, the Jonah project provides shelter for the hurting homeless. In the belly of the great fish, "Los Angeles" people come off the streets and into a house of love, where the peace of God is ever present. As a volunteer, I was able to walk around the streets of San Julian listening to the stories of the people there, and praying with the people that God loves. The Jonah project staff are very encouraging and did a great job in leading the 28 of us in caring for the homeless. Young high school students had an opportunity to learn and love on skid row, and I know they wouldn't have without the Jonah Project.

We have never been in an environment that was so touching and so relevant to touching the needs of our world as our experience with Jonah Project. We are so blessed to be a part of their world!

This weekend, I went with the high-school group from my church to visit the Jonah Project. What a blessing! I was so impressed by the hearts of the staff. They really were there because they want to see Los Angeles transformed- one soul at a time. I was encouraged by their commitment to love well. They really seek to serve their neighbors with respect and dignity, rather than just throwing hand-outs at people. If you are looking for a way to change the world, support this ministry. :)

The jonah project was awesome! As our group walked down skid row we were anxious to help and saw the need. It felt dark but we knew God was keeping us safe. As soon as we walked into the jonah project we felt an instant relief. As if God was there and working hard. It felt safe and very home-like. They definitely are being used by God in a huge manner.

The people who work on this project are truly inspirational. What an amazing opportunity put together by amazing people.

I volunteered with the Jonah Project this past summer with my youth group. Honestly, I can not put into words how much this ministry had an impact on me. Just seeing how much they are helping these people and showing them God's love is just amazing! That night I went on skid row, is a night that I will never forget. My friends and I still talk about the Jonah Project all the time and just wonderful things they have done, and are still doing. One day I hope & pray I have a chance to go back. They are one of the best ministries I have ever worked with by far.

I have seen the people who work for the Jonah Projects, primarily the leaders, and how the invest themselves in their work wholeheartedly. They are completely dedicated to the people they serve. They spend countless hours working to help their community. They enlist others who are like-minded to help with the work as well. I have dropped in The Jonah Project several times, on different days, at various times, and found their doors open and many people taking advantage of their services. Through The Jonah Project many people of the Skid Row area of Los Angeles have been given a place to get off the streets without being judged, get a meal, receive encouragement and guidance, as well as wholesome entertainment. The Jonah Project and its workers give of themselves selflessly like no other organization I know of. I sincerely appreciate them and the work they do for those who don't have the resources or ability to give back to them in return.

The Jonah Project is an amazing opportunity that I have known of since it was only in its beginning stages. This organization is very successful, not just at creating favorable statistics, but by actively participating in a revolution within the hearts of men and women on and off skid row. They are obedient to the convictions God places on their hearts, and that is the most important part of any ministry. I have not only heard of but seen first hand the staggering lack of love and the abundance of racism, substance abuse, gang violence and hate on skid row. Thanks to people like the ones working at the Jonah project hope is rising, even in the face of such great adversity. Skid Row has been forsaken by many, but not by God who continues to move through people like Pastor Patrick and Pastor Jedi and other small men and women serving a very big God.

i came from a small town in Wisconsin to minister to skid row. I wanted to do God's will. I was amazed at the people at the Jonah Project. They not only ministered to the people's spiritual needs but treated them with dignity and respect. Their testimonies were amazing. As I walked the streets among the people I saw hopelessness and addiction and the mentally ill. This is not the average person to show Christ to., but the workers there were overflowing with love for the people that only Christ can give. I would definitely go back someday God willing. I have been down to the Jonah Project dozens of times and am so blessed by what they are doing in Skid Row. I love their heart for Christ and mission and how they express those passions relationally. The Jonah Project is truly an organic, incarnational ministry.

I have been to the Jonah Project twice now and each time I have seen the impact they are having down there on skid row. Such an awesome organization. People's lives will be changed because of this place.

My youth group and I are from Canada.
We were originally planned to go to Ensenada, Mexico for our Missions Trip, but sadly we couldn't go. That's when we got a call saying that we could go to the LA Dream Center and we were PUMPED.
When we got there we didn't really know what to expect, but it was life changing. You always hear about places like Skid Row, but then you really experience it, and it's shocking. I didn't really know what to expect, but when I was there I was nervous, but soon it was chill & it was just so amazing being able to minister to all these people, and just to give them someone to talk to. I don't think there is anything better than helping someone out even if it's just giving them someone to talk to.
This experience really gave me new perspectives on life. : )

The other day at Angelus Temple the Jonah Project brought 4 men from Skid Row to perform for the offering. They were great! Really cool acapella group.

My youth group and I are from Canada, and we got the amazing experience to go and volunteer at the L.A. Dream Center. We got to work on Skid Row and the Jonah Project. It was an unbelievable experience, we all learned so much, and realized how thankful we are that God has blessed us so much in our lives. Working on Skid Row , I admit, made me nervous, but while we were walking down the streets, I realized that these people need our help, and the least we could do was give it to them. We prayed for them, gave them snacks, and invited them back to the dream center. I would reccomend the Jonah Project to anyone. It is an amazing organization who just wants to help as much as they can.

I've worked with the Jonah Project on several occasions, all on Skid Row here in Los Angeles, CA. The organization as a whole has one true, beating heart for the people on Skid Row. I've been involved in clothing drives as well as "singing in the streets", and as a regular volunteer with other organizations as well, I have to say that they are very well organized and look after the safety of their volunteers in this potentially dangerous environment. God definitely has its hand on this organization. I've seen the fruits and know that it is only because of their faithfulness and "Glory be to God" mentality. I love working with the Jonah Project, and will continue giving them my time and money. It is an honor and is very pleasing to the Lord.

Wow! This is a really unique environment, Skid Row is such a dark place, but the Jonah Project brings so much light. Skid Row is very stressful, and because of the Jonah Project there's lost of couches for the homeless to sit on and take a break without worrying.

I have gone out to help with the Jonah Project, and it amazes me every time. The provide food, clothing, church services and many more wonderful things to these people who have nothing. It is such a blessing to know that people would dedicate their lives to serve others. So proud of what they are doing to help these people that nobody seems to want to help.

I'm impressed with the impact that the Jonah Project has--not only on those it serves but on the VOLUNTEERS that serve with them. I have friends that are committed to this organization and when they talk about it, they ooze pride and compassion! They LOVE serving with the Jonah Project and to me that says a ton about the way they operate. They care about impacting people no matter if they're on the team or on the street! What a blessing.

The Jonah Project was simply amazing. I had the chance to be a friend to so many that didn't have many-if any at all. I was assigned to working in the "clothing store" as a greeter at the door. I introduced myself to most of them and asked to pray with them, and to my surprise, a TON of people came to me asking for prayer before I had a chance to ask them!! People like Jasmina, PJ, Manny, and Keith had amazing stories to share that touched my heart. I honestly could not find any faults in this program, I know their hearts desire to serve the people and glorify God while they're doing it.

Wow, the Jonah project is a very special place. My daughter has been volunteering there through the Dream Center. Through her I hear about Skid Row and what the Jonah Project does to impact their lives. I had no idea of the help that is needed nor the help that is given...and yet there is still more that can be done. Keep up the good work and let's all help in any way we can.

The Jonah Project is great! I went there a few years back and really enjoyed my time volunteering there. It's awesome to see the Jonah Project taking the opportunity to serve others.

My husband lived on Skid Row and remembers the Jonah Project. I have been researching skid row and I see the Jonah project always helping people. There are thousands more to be helped! Take it one day at a time. You are all doing a wonderful thing... these people have no where left to turn, their struggles are very real to them, no matter what they may be. There are people out there you know... they are real people with real feelings and real problems. They have no one, not even each other, it's like a war zone out there. This must be stopped in our country... but the answer is not to turn your back on these people, the answer is to look at them head on, ask each and every single one of them, what they need in their life... help them get it! Help the people in our country get to where they need to be. What would you do if you had no where to turn? You become homeless and eventually end up on skid row... not bad enough? Wait til the government says tell them to leave, push them out... does that solve the problem?? NO, this makes things worse... you can't shove homeless people away, they are still going to remain homeless, they need our help people! They need us, do something... write a congressman, start a blog, do something... we have to help one another! The jonah project wants to help!!! This is beautiful!!! Please be aware of SKID ROW and whats is going on there... what can you do to change the lives on skid row??

The Jonah Project is one of the most unique and most loving places that I have been. They are actively blessing the people of the community they are at and are authentically in love with them. Our youth group went there for an outreach to help bless others, but it was we who were changed forever from the work that is happening there and from the staff.

In such dark places like Skid Row there is a big need of a place that shines a light into the darkness. And that's exactly what the Jonah Project does.
I'm working at the Dream Center LA and because of that I've been down in Skid Row and at the Jonah Project almost every Saturday during the last six months and I got to know the Jonah Project as an organization that is not looking for it's own reward, or benefit or however you want to call it, but it has a burning heart for the hurting and the lost and of course for God. And it's the same with the workers and volunteers and the leadership at the Jonah Project.

The jonah Project has helped me find self esteem i'm not out doing drugs or selling my body. It has given me confidence that my Father in heaven will never leave me or forsake me. today i have a job, my teeth and an apartment and 5 years of recovery!!

This is my first time to skid row and was shocked by the conditions people are subject to. The Jonah Project is an amazing place for people to come for food, water and clothing. I've been traveling to Skid Row since my sophomore year in high school, I am now a freshman at UCSB. The first time I drove through Skid Row I looked at the streets and felt scared but when I found out about the Jonah Project I found an outlet to use as a channel to help a cause that I felt passionate about. The Jonah Project is a means to making connections with people. I feel at home when I am at the Jonah Project and I love coming back and seeing the people that I've built relationships with.

Pastor Patrick and Mary are amazing and what they are doing are amazing to help bring hope to broken and hurting lives in skid row. Jonah Project is doing a great job and their heart is to help bring restoration to skid row by what they are doing. Simply amazing place of transformation and a place of refuge for people to chill where people can come in at any hour of the day and sit on the couch, enjoy a meal or hear bible studies.

The Jonah Project is an invaluable non-profit organization located in the heart of L.A.'s Skid Row area. They provide meals, clothing, temporary relief from the mean streets of downtown...and most important, they have a heart for work Jesus Christ commanded all believers to do. I work next to the Jonah Project, and have heard nothing but positive things from the homeless population about them. I recommend that everyone stop by to experience true service and love for mankind...stop by Jonah Project!!

The Jonah project is reaching out to the Lost hurting people of Los Angelos Skid Row. They are building a community in the place where Jesus would. Taking the message of hope and light right into the heart of darkness and death, living out the resurrection power of Christ.

When I think about the Jonah project I cant even describe it in words. I get vision, I see a place of rest. A place were the broken can come and find light to shine through them. I see HOPE to the hopeless. rest for the weary. I come in and I can not ignore the love of Christ. I would dedicate my entire life to this place because of the vision and love. Its an emergency room to ship out to the hospital. I support this place and will always be forever thankful for the display of love here on skid row!

The love, passion and constant labor that my friends at the Jonah Project demonstrate has impacted my life and convicted me to also serve those in need with such sincere generosity. The Jonah Project shows the love of Christ in a very practical way--a much needed way--that brings hope to those they are aiding, for love always brings forth hope.

Wow! The Jonah Project is such a blessing to my life. I've met some people with amazing stories. The staff live each day to just love others. Just being there inspires me. We held a bible study today! I thought I was going to be the one making a difference in their lives, instead they're impacting mine. Praise God for the Jonah Project.

What can I say about the Jonah Project? I went there this last summer and haven't looked at a single human being the same again. While there I saw the staff show example of sincerely loving hearts. The way they serve the people who live in Skid Row is breath taking. They inspired me to step out of my comfort zone and love on people even if its only because they were made in the image of Christ.

When my group went out to talk with the people who live in Skid Row, nearly everyone we came across someone they had heard about the Jonah Project before. Its clear that the impact that this organization has on the people in their community is amazing. Even if one person smiles more often-the Jonah Project has impacted them in ineffable ways.

The Jonah Project is an amazing place! I spend a couple days a week there and it is truly a blessing, one of the best parts of my week!!

The Jonah Project is unlike any organization I have volunteered at. The staff truly has such a heart for the people of skid row and shows them a love that is lacking in their lives. Skid row is a place where it is impossible to find a place of rest and the Jonah Project offers a peaceful place for people to come and rest. I had the opportunity to volunteer at the jonah project last summer for two nights! the expirience changed my life and how i look at people forever! they are showing love to the most forgotten people in our entire country! and helping them to survive and have a much better quality of life as well as a chance to hear the gospel of Christ! after the short time i spent at the jonah project i was so moved by their compassion that I have since become in a local rescue mission in huntington IN called the Malta house. I am the program director here and get to help out people who need it most and deserve it most too! i am so thankful for what they are doing at the jonah project and am so excited that i get to visit them this july again!! they are a wonderful group of people!!!

Me and my friends met Pastor Patrick on the first "24 hours of love" campaign they did, before the Jonah Project even had a set place to establish themselves. Since then, me and my friends dropped by the new HQ and it is AMAZING. They do so much of God's work with whatever they are provided with. Everyone there establishes genuine relationships with the homeless in their ministry and it is a sincerely personal atmosphere. We stayed there for a weekend, but it was a weekend that changed my whole perspective on ministry and how I want to emulate God's love like they do. I pray that more people in the world would adopt the humility and love shown by Pastor Patrick, Mary, Jedi, and everyone at the Jonah Project. It is an amazing and life changing organization.

I had been here a couple times and the past and was welcomed with open arms. These people are solid people of Christ and all I saw was love for the down trodden and men and women of Christ trying to put hope back in their lives. Great place

My name is Gary Boatwright. My street name is "$2 Short", because I'm always $2 short of a nickle bag, which also just happens to be my panning hustle. The Jonah Project is one of perhaps two or three honest facilities genuinely attempting to help homeless Americans on skid row.
As a general rule we have three primary enemies. In no particular order they are: other homeless Americans, people pretending to help homeless Americans and Cops. Skid Row is probably the largest outdoor insane asylum in America. The Jonah Project provides a brief respite from the madness that is colloquially known as Skid Row. For that simple blessing many of us are genuinely grateful.

The Jonah Project is a loving place where the homeless and needy, or anyone needing love can come to find loving people willing to serve and help with the love of Jesus.

The Jonah Project was awesome! I served coffe and got to meet some cool people. There are great things happening there!

This is my first time here and I can say that God is working through this place. The Jonah Project clearly establishes a place of love and hope.

This is my first time Jonah project and it has made a great first impression on me. The environment is welcoming and warm.

Jonah Project exists to give people a place to go durning the day. Oftentimes they are kicked out of the shelters during the daytime, so they have nowhere to go except the streets. The Jonah Project is that place.
I went to the Jonah Project for a Saturday, and just listened. Listened to a homeless woman spill her story. She needed someone to talk to, and I was blessed by listening.

The first time I came into the Jonah Project, I didn't know what it was because I was very new to living on skid row. Skid row is a very depressing, violent, and hellish place to live but when I came in it was like I felt really safe. The people who run this place are very good spirit filled people. Ever sense I came in I just wanted to help out in anyway possible. Even though I'm homeless and I don't have a lot to offer, God used this place to show me that I do have something to offer and I thank God for The Jonah Project. It offers a very loving, peaceful and safe environment for the people of skid row by letting people come in and listen to live worship music, food and clothing giveaways, and watch movies. Life is very hard out on these streets and its place like the Jonah Project that is really doing some good. And if I ever had money to donate anywhere, I would put my money into The Jonah Project. The only thing I would say that would make The Jonah Project better would be more staff and more money to make this ministry to be more of a blessing to people here.

The Jonah Project is a place for you to come and find yourself and really seek God. There are plenty of nice people here to help you do those things. And those who are here to help have long patience.

It is a church that has done me some good. Everyone gets along in here, the staff is nice. It is a place to come and sit down and get off the street.

When I come to cut hair @ the Jonah Project, I feel good- it's not work. I like to serve the people. I get a kick out of people walking out of here with a new haircut and feeling good about themselves.

When I come into the Jonah project I feel like I am at home. the people are nice and it's cool that I can get off the street and be in a good environment.

When I ma in the Jonah Project I am in a better environment. I'm off of the street and able to better myself.

I have to say Jonah project is the place to go to crash and relax most of my friends don't get sleep or a good bite to eat so i thank GOD for this place and the people that come to help out daily

There aren't enough words to describe how awesome the Jonah Project is, it's a safe and loving refuge for the broken hearted and for those that society would consider unlovable. Anyone who comes here will truly blessed!

I first encountered the Jonah Project 4years ago. I was in the process of going into full time ministry. Trying to figure out what the meant, when God brought me to Patrick. He showed me what it meant to lay down ones life, take up the cross and follow Jesus. I saw a family that had latterly packed up their bags, left their business in Detroit and moved to California because God had called them to. I met a family that was walking by faith, living on what the Lord provided, giving everything to ministry. It's hard to go to church after having encountered the Jonah Project. Because they make it real. I believe I have seen the real Jesus at work down on skid row. The Jonah Project continues to inspire me, to challenge me. I am eternally grateful for the example they have set

The first time I heard about the Jonah Project was from a homeless man that my friends and I were talking to in early 2009. He told us, "Shh, be quiet. You hear that music? Follow it and you'll find the Jonah Project." They had only been open for a couple of months, but already had gained the reputation as the church with open doors and loud music.
I soon met pastor Patrick Ersig and his wife, Mary inside their building on Skid Row. I was deeply moved by the Ersig's passion for the poor, but even more surprised to see the reactions to them. Perhaps they are just easily recognizable, but every single homeless person knew the Ersigs, and were happy to see them.
I have visited the Jonah Project over the years, and have only seen them grow-both in numbers and in passion. They are on the front lines, doing the work that needs to be done. I wholeheartedly support them, and could not give them any higher recommendation.

Jonah Project is more than an organization or ministry. They are a revolution that is taking place in the heart of the darkest and loveless streets of a section of Los Angeles that most wouldn't dare volunteer let alone dedicate their lives to serving those who live down there. I've done homeless ministry across the U.S., but the environment cultivated at the Jonah Project is unique in that the founders and volunteers not only seek to care for the physical needs of homeless people but to restore the precious lives of these people who live in these unfortunate circumstances. The ESL programs, the clothing store where the homeless can actually choose clothes they want that are hung up on racks, bible studies, and even an artsy ambient environment, are great tools in reviving in a whole each resident there on the streets of Skid Row. Life flows within the four walls of the Jonah Project out onto the streets and can't wait till we get to serve Patrick and Mary Ersig and love on the people that are in their care.

Our group from Pittsburgh had an amazing time serving at the Jonah Project in August 2010. The impact they are making and lives that they are changing is truly God breathed.

The Jonah Project is truly a gift from God, and I am so honored that I was able to spend time there, meeting some of the awesome volunteers who spend their days bringing hope and inspiration to those in dire need. The JP provides a safe place for residents of Skid Row to enter and be greeted with food, warmth, clothing, a place to sit and rest, and spiritual healing. Upon our arrival with a truck full of clothing to donate, we were greeted by various helpers as well as residents of Skid Row, all who were looking after one another. Men gathered bags and boxes from our car and immediately started digging through clothing, and when they saw jeans or other items they knew a fellow resident needed, they called that person over and made sure it made it to him. There is a lot of "looking out" here at Jonah Project - not solely the volunteers serving, but the residents looking out for one another as well. That is what The Jonah Project inspires - support for one another, physically, mentally, and spiritually. I feel honored to have been called to the JP and pray for continued blessings to everyone involved.

My experience with the Jonah Project was a true blessing. They are true believers who understand that physical needs can only be meet temperarily but peoples souls are what need to be feed the most. They are in the heart of a city that is in desperate need of Gods salvation and they definetly could use financial support. They are very committed in providing both the physical and the spiritual needs by providing food, shelter, time, love, patience, and of course the gospel.

The Jonah project is a light in a dark place. It serves as a beacon of hope to the people in skid row, and leads people to the only name by which men can be saved, Jesus Christ. They provide clothing, food, and drink to the homeless and a place to just escape the tempations of the street and have real fellowship with people. The Jonah project also is generous in providing a place to stay overnight for missionaries. Praise God for what he is doing in skid row.

I visited the JP last summer. My prayer was "God, break my heart for what breaks yours". I saw so much hurt from the people on Skid Row. Those serving at the JP were loving and kind, meeting both the spiritual needs and the physical needs of the Homeless. I will never, ever forget this experience. It changed me.

I came to the JP last summer when i volunteered at the Dream Center. I was amazed by this group of people. While i was there a homeless man told me how much the JP meant to him and the other homeless people. He said these people(JP workers) had no idea how just putting rugs on the floor of the room made them feel more human.I saw an unconditional love from the people ar JP. Amazing organization!!!!

I have lived homeless on Skid Row and in the city of LA for short periods of time, the longest being a month. I remember that, while I was on the streets, I longed for services such as the Jonah Project provides. There is no peace on the streets, and there isn't anywhere where you can let your guard down and just rest. From my own personal experience, I can be confident that the Jonah Project provides many of the essential, unmet needs on Skid Row. I thoroughly enjoy volunteering my time in light of this knowledge.

I love that there is a group that is willing to do what it takes to meet needs of people, and take effective steps to help them get back on their feet. It is so encouraging and truly has the heart of Jesus stamped all over it!

Being able to come and volunteer with the Jonah Project was honestly a life-changing experience. We were there for an evening helping in whatever way they needed us, and I ended up on a team that went out and talked to the people on Skid Row and prayed with them. It's been months since I was there and I can still clearly see the faces of the people I encountered. The Jonah Project is well known on Skid Row and they have strived to (and achieved the goal of) helping these people to feel loved and accepted. The Jonah Project is changing lives. There is no doubt about that!

The ministry that I am a part of has partnered several times with the Jonah Project and we are making another trip this coming weekend to help out. I have preached and labored along side them to take care of the spiritual and physical needs of the people of Skid Row.

I was at the Jonah Project several times between the months of September and December of 2010. The place is an oasis in the middle of despair. It allows the people on Skid Row to find comfort in a safe environment. Its a hard environment to be in and the work that the people do at the Jonah Project is amazing and deserves recognition. I loved going there every week and want to work there full time as soon as I get back to the USA.

I went to the Jonah Project last week and had a blast. The Jonah project is helping to renew hope to the homeless on Skid Row. Everyone should go and help out it is an amazing experience.

What a great ministry! We had a chance to connect with the local community that we wouldn't have had without the Johah Project - we talked to people in the neighborhood, picked up trash, and provided some appreciated refreshments. We were able to bring one person back to the Dream Center to begin a new life direction because they were able to walk right in off 6th and experience God's love through his faithful there at the Johah Project. Very real.

I was at the jonah project just days ago, the people I meet there changed my life. They showed me what Gods love truely looks like, and how simple smiles and word of life can change cold heart. They showed me that the people on Skid Row are just that people. The work they are doing there will change so many lives, just as it has changed mine. When I returned home I wrote this in my journal" I found more love, acceptance and joy on the streets of Skid Row, in what is known as an unsafe place. Than I have ever found here, in the streets on my small town , that is so safe". I would love for my city to have just a small amount of fire that the Jonah Project has. It is a place that forever changed my life

I love the Jonah Project and more specifically the people who lead it and the people who spend time there. What a gift to our city that they bring light and life and hope to the community of Skid Row.

I and a group of friends have been down to the Jonah Project's grand opening a few months ago. They served the whole street with barbeque, chips and beverages enough to feed as much as they could. They then put on a show for the ones who came in to rest. My group and I had the chance to sing and lift spirits all in that place! It was amazing. It was a privledge to work along side them. The Jonah project has had an amazing impact on my life! The Jonah project not only offers people on Skid row the needs for everyday life, by providing food, clothes and necessities but they actually take the time to show the people love that last for eternity through their love of Jesus Christ that overflows from their hearts. Its so obvious when you go to Jonah Project that you cant help but want to be like them!

We have had a relationship with this organization for the past several years. We have worked on the street with them, and observed how much they mean to the people on Skid Row. The provide the people with not only the physical necessities they lack, but they also minister to the spiritual and emotional well being of each individual, as well. Pastor Patrick and Pastor Jedid are well versed in the Scriptures and offer much needed hope and help to the people they minister to. They have developed a personal relationship with the people, who have come to love and trust them. We have seen Christ work through this ministry to make a difference in many peoples lives, and feel they are very worthy of our financial and prayer support.

I've gone to the Jonah project a couple of times and one thing I can say is that It has been a life changing experience. This place is full of broken people. People that are in need not just for food and clothing but are in need of love. Some of the people I've talk to there are just glad you take the time to ask them how they are doing. I'm blown away by the love and dedication of the founders/volunteers give to the hurting and the broken. The Jonah project is such an inspiration to me. If you ever have a chance to visit them you should you will not regret it.

I visit the Jonah Project about every few months with my church and am blown away each and every time. The heart that the JP has for the people of Skid Row is beyond inspiring. They give everything that they have into this ministry and into these people that most of the world turns a blind eye to. They are living life alongside the poor, the broken, the beaten, the tired, the unfortunate, the forgotten, the dirty, the addicted, the mistreated and the misunderstood. They offer them a place to rest, to eat, to hope and to grow. They invest in the ones that most others have stopped investing in. The JP has brought the hope of Jesus to the seemingly hopeless streets of Skid Row.

i am 17 years old and i came all the way from holland to help at the jonah project a few months ago. everyday i think about it and it was an awesome time. the work that they are doing is so amazing! they share so much love! thumbs up!

I travelled to the Jonah Project as a short term missions team from the Dream Center. It was by far the most incredible experience of my life! The team members have an obvious love for what they do, and the people of Skid Row respond to that. I look forward to returning!

I am part of a team that had the joy to be apart of what the Jonah Project does. We went down there from Washington and worked with them on several occasions. They have such an impact on the streets of Skid Row and greatly need the money to increase their wonderful ministry.

Ive been blessed to have worked with the Jonah Project on multiple occasions. Mostly being a part of their "24hrs of love" where we would go and live on Skid Row for 24hrs and help where we could, talk with who would listen, and be a friend to those who are hurting. Patrick is an amazing man, a golden heart that couldnt love anymore then it already does. His wife is also an incredible role model to anyone who desires to be loving, kind, caring and sincere. I cant tell you what an impact The Jonah Project has had on me. From realizing just how depraved this world is, to being close friends with those who most of society would say is a waste. Having conversations with people down on Skid at 3 in the morning in the cold, one time even in the rain, have been some of the best life lessons and blessings ever. If you are able to donate, contribute time, I cant say enough how impactful it will be. I had the incredible opportunity to go to The Jonah Project! You want to talk about people who step outside of the box, outside of any comfort zone....These people are the REAL thing! I left a part of my heart at the Jonah Project and the people of Skid Row. This is not a place for the faint of heart! It is a place for warriors who go out and love and empathize with the broken and down trodden. JP is one of the most awesome ministries around...... Providing opportunities for people to put their gifts into ACTION! When we arrived, everyone was asked "What are your gifts? We have a place for you!" JP offered people with the gift of arts/music to lead music and worship for the evening. They offered a group for evangelism to go out on the streets to evangelize. Another group went out, walked the steets and prayed against the spiritual oppression, addictions, prostitution...and so on. They provided a group for people who have the gift of organization to go in the closet and organize all the clothes that are donated! Others were cooking and serving the people. You name it...there was a place for you!! I personally went with a group that prayed! It was phenominal...I personally have never felt oppression so strongly as I did there, but what is more awesome, there was no fear to go out and minister because I have a greater power on my side, living in me. The people living on Skid Row need people to go out and love on them!!!!! Thank you Jonah Project for letting me be apart of the ministry on Skid Row...I love you all!! :o)

I have volunteered with ministries and shelters who assist the homeless for several years, but never have I worked with such an amazing ministry to the homeless as The Jonah Project. They are the most effective and holistic homeless ministry I have ever seen. Not only do they provide the homeless with food, clothing, and shelter, but they give them a comfortable place to hang out, a wonderful church to be a part of, internet access, in depth personal counseling, solid spiritual discipleship, live worship music, and much more. They have integrated into the community of Skid Row more intimately and effectively than any other group I have ever seen. I recommend The Jonah Project wholeheartedly to anyone who wants to support an effective work in L.A.'s Skid Row.

I've been down to skid row several times with the Jonah Project and I've been blown away every time. The people behind the Jonah Project are sincerely loving, caring and accepting of all the homeless on Skid Row that they come in contact with. They are amazing people and I'm so blessed to know them and be able to help them out when I can.

I had the privilege of going to Skid Row in Los Angeles and helping out an amazing ministry that has truly changed my heart towards God and towards those that are homeless. The Jonah Project does an amazing job of showing Christ's love to all that enter their door and continually strive to improve their facility and how they do their work. Top grade for these amazing, dedicated people that live to serve the homeless in Los Angeles!

So I was on a mission trip with my school to LA. A few of the days were spent helping out at the Jonah project. Some of the most powerful moments of our trip were spent there. They have an amazing program going on there and are truly making an impact on the streets of Skid row.

I just got back from an amazing trip with 21 high school students from Washington state. We were blessed to work with the people from Jonah Project. Their hearts for the broken and hurting of Skid Row are such an amazing testimony to the body of Christ. I could not recommend them more highly - we can't wait to get back down there again next year to serve alongside them!

I was on a short term mission group from Washington with my school, and the Jonah Project stood out so much in Skidrow! They had evrything they needed to thrive and help the people on the streets. I served those people, met them, and prayed for them with the Jonas team. They have a great heart for God and definetly deserve the money!!

I have spent many evenings down at The Jonah Project with my wife, and every single time we go it hits me like a new experience. We would often bring new people along with us to help out and serve the residents of skid row, and every time, every person was moved in incredible ways. The Jonah Project is a positive constant in a broken community, a light that is always shining in a dark place. Many of us come and go as volunteers, while The Jonah Project remains in the heart of the issue, constantly meeting the needs of hurting people.

I have seen many people serve in many different ways, and I in no way want this to seem like I am passing judgment, but The Jonah Project is the ministry that I will always be able to sow into, knowing with all my heart, that what I put in, will go fully to the need of the people they are serving.

I've never had the pleasure of serving with them in person, as they are in another country. However, I have no qualms about supporting this much needed ministry.

The old adage goes 'give a man a fish and feed him for a day; teach him to fish and feed him for life'. This is what the Jonah project does. It not only feeds people for a seaon but tries to implement the structures and support that will allow them to feed for life, and not just physical food but spiritual food as well.

Ministry like the Jonah Project is much needed. People are homeless, in need of help and in search of something better. Many long to be free from the bondage they are in but see no way out. The Jonah project offers ways out for people, and also offers them the potential to make lasting changes which will help not only the person but those around them.

If the work they are doing was replicated in many other places around the world, with funding from private donors and other funded methods, then much good would be done among the homeless of the world.

I 100% support this ministry and what they stand for, both socially and biblically.

I came down last summer with my youth ministry and we absolutely loved serving along side the Jonah Project. They were very organized and had something for every volunteer to help out with. It was a great experience to help the less fortunate in L.A.'s Skid Row; to be able to pray with them, feed them, build relationship with them, clean up the area, clothe them, and to grow as an individual because of the hope that the people in that area had, even though their life styles look hard and miserable to us. The Jonah Project is making a huge difference in that community day and night, providing hope, warmth, and food to a hurting people.

I have had the fortunate experience of volunteering my time on a couple of occasions @ the Jonah Project! The experience of seeing the joy on the faces of the homeless when I served them a cup of hot coffee and a smile was beyond description. It does something to you when you know you have touched someones heart. I admire Patrick, Mari, Jedi and all the volunteers who give their time unselfishly day after day to touch the lives of the unfortunate with the love of God! If I had the money it would be given DIRECTLY to the Jonah Project without a second thought! They are needed in the community and they are dedicated to helping get these beloved people off the streets. In other words, they walk the talk!

I have had the opportunity to connect with a friend who I have never met in person: Patrick Ersig. He was previously in Detroit working in street ministry in some of the work places of the city. Now by God's leading and direction his family and himself have founded a ministry in the heart of Skid Row also known as "crack alley". It is one of the most notorious places in America, for drugs, poverty and just hopelessness.

I have visited many countries and seen poverty abroad but it was quite shattering to see it without any gloss here but the rugged reality of broken, hopeless and shattered lives. But there is hope in the midst of such darkness and apathy. Jonah Project is situated in the middle of skid row a community of over 10,000 people. God has used this mission to share the hope of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with many and continues to be a strong light in the darkness.

As I walked last night and prayed with groups of people around skid row we witnessed some of the rugged reality of the situation and felt the oppressive spirit in the area. I could see the impact this visit not only had on the youth but also on myself and my ministry context. I whole-heartily believe this mission is doing the work of the kingdom and for the size of its operation is having a great impact. Do pray for this work! and give generously, if you want to give to something that is reaching some of the poorest in America, this is it!

What excited me most also is the testimonies of changed lives and to see these brothers serving and still living in Skid Row day after day as an example of the change the Gospel can bring!

This is one awesome God inspired project!! Patrick and Jedi are really inspiring in all that they do for the Lord. I first met them last summer on a mission trip with our youth group and plan on coming back again this summer. I love how the light of Jesus shines through the Jonah Project in such a dark place in the world. There is nothing glamorous or fun about being there after hours but you feel the presence of the Lord so strongly when you are around the very people He wants all of us christians to reach out to and help. Let love lead!!!!

I love the Jonah Project. I met Jedi and Patrick when we first did 24 hours of love way back in the day about a year and a half ago. They are taking a different approach to helping the homeless. I mean, the people in skid rowe could get five meals a day if they wanted because there are so many different organizations, and teams that come down, especially on the weekends, to give food and minister. These people have heard the gospel and been preached at and talked to so many different times that they are probably sick of it.
So the Jonah Project takes a different approach. They really focus on building relationships and just being with the people. Their facility creates a safe place to be, hang out, talk and hear the word of God. Jedi, Patrick, Mary and the other people involved really focus on meeting the people and getting to know them on a deeper level, which is missed a lot when random churches come for a day or so.
They have become well known in the community and are donig quite well as a ministry.

I went to the Jonah Project as a mission trip with my church. I still want to go back and volunteer there. It is an experience i will never forget. I wish that people would stop trying to shut it down. It is the one thing that i think that actually changes the people of Sid Row.

I have heard lots about Jonah Project from a friend. She is constantly over there helping, doing just about anything that needs to be done. She has a HUGE heart for Skid Row. Jonah Project makes Skid Row as part of their family. They make them feel special. I'm all about making others feel special and sharing God's love with them.

I recently went to the Jonah Project in Los Angeles this summer with my church on a missions trip! This group reaches Skid Row unlike any other group could! They spread love to the people that sometimes are forgotten! I believe the Jonah Project has saved many lives and impacted even more souls! God is doing something crazy and radical in Jonah Project

was introduced to The Jonah Project by a friend. Going into it, I had no clue what to expect and I have to admit I was a little scared. I had only read about Skid Row from books. When I entered into Skid Row, I saw first hand the brokenness and devastating sight of the homeless community. I couldn't believe the difference of day and night, with the ritzy part of Los Angeles being just a couple blocks away, with no trace of people struggling to keep alive. When I walked into the Jonah Project, I was immediately welcomed. The staff at the Jonah Project showed me so much love and appreciation. They right away introduced me to other volunteers and showed me around. I learned, based on the amount of homeless people that were at Jonah Project, that this was the only place where they felt safe and the realities of the streets of skid row left them. They were able to sleep and feel safe, watch movies, drink a warm cup of coffee, fellowship, learn about God, etc etc. I felt so thankful that a place such a Jonah Project existed for that to happen. But after speaking with some of the staff at JP, I realized that there is so much more that they could do with more resources and financial support. Because of the large community of homeless people in Skid Row, resource become scarce very quickly. But I love how the staff at Jonah Project never give up hope and are always looking for new ways to get the word out about the brokenness at skid row and what a place like Jonah Project means to that community. JP is really a light in all the darkness for several homeless people that live on Skid Row.

I spent 6 days at the dream center and I was priveleged enough to serve the Jonah Project on a Wednesday and Friday. The first time I went I didn't wanna go out of my comfort zone, so I stayed in the building to help sort through clothes. Which were clothes the Jonah Project gave to the homeless. I regretted that decision because I saw a change in my friends who walked around to pray for people. They went to the homeless "people", I stayed and had them come to me.
My pride kept me from going. I broke that down for the second time I went. That time, I went with the prayer group. 2 major things happened by going there that changed me completely. I got to meet individuals, not the numbers in statistics of homeless. Praying for him..I think his name was "Tomas". It was incredible because as we were praying for him he broke down. His story reminded me of all the more individuals out there, all the people the Jonah Project is helping. This orginazation is truly one purely out to reach for these people.
I plan to volunteer there more often.

I was fortunate enough to visit the Jonah Project for a day and see what great things they have been doing in the heart of Skid Row. Many people may not know about Skid Row and even less care about the folks who have been living there with the little that they have.
The Jonah Project, as a nonprofit organization, has shown tremendous effort, love, and care to the area and the people. From providing clothes, food, shelter, prayer, and love I can see that the Jonah Project is truly committed to their mission.
The Jonah Project is also completely open to any volunteers (myself and others) who are willing to help out. This makes the Jonah Project not only a community outreach program but also a community awareness program to those who live in the surrounding areas.

It is the heart that Patrick, Mary, Jedi and the others have for the homeless and how much the homeless individuals appreciate them that makes this organization so outstanding.

The Jonah Project is quirky little ministry down in the heart of Skid Row. It's front doors open to what's referred to as "Crack Alley," but that's exactly where it's leaders want it to be. Their first priority as a non-profit is to help others in need, but not just with another cheap meal or bottle of water, but to give them something else, something greater. Pastor Patrick and Jedi give the down-and-out a community, a family, and a dignity through the Jonah Project. With comfy couches, cafe tables, and coffee brewing throughout the week, the interior is set up to cultivate this community.
As a volunteer, the pastor's emphasis on relationship is definitely reflected in the volunteer work. Most of the time spent is more relationship-oriented rather than task-oriented. Although sometimes volunteer work there may seem unproductive, that is not to the point. The point is not to be productive, but to love and to recognize and reflect Christ's love for others in this place. It's a beautiful thing when the purpose shifts from "what can we do" at Skid Row to "how can we love."
I really am grateful to be a part of this ministry and hope you'll have a chance to give them a try and began building relationships and recognizing the many things our friends on Skid Row have to offer as well.

I came here as a part of another organization. It was a one-time experience, but the fact that the Jonah project was there for ordinary people like me to be a part of, was wonderful. The people that I met serving for the Jonah project seemed to put all their hearts and bodies into the homeless. I was blessed by the experience and so glad that the Jonah project was there for the homeless.

For 23 years, I have answered God's call to serve and love those in need that are poor or disenfranchised in our inner cities. In that time frame, there have been very few organizations that can match the dedication shown by the Jonah Project. Patrick and his wife continue to bring the light and love of Christ into the streets of East Central Los Angeles, Skid Row! Let me assure you that there is no greater concentration of need in the United States and to take a stand like the Jonah Project has is no small feat of courage and love. I enjoy the Partnership that I have with this great ministry and when the Father calls me to serve the Holy Ground that is Skid Row, I know I will find the impact of the Jonah Project's labors when I arrive. They truly make a difference in this world that is undeniable.

Jonah project is not just another non profit providing food and necessities to the homeless. It is a home to many who call skid row their home. The many homeless people I have had the privilege to meet all love the jonah project. I ask them why, and the common response is, it has a good feeling inside. That their is a positive energy and safety at jonah project. The staff and leadership at Jonah Project is incredible. Talk about people who sacrifice everything for the love of another. I could go on for days about JP and all its wonder.

CAME TO THE PROJECT IN JANUARY OF 2009..IMMEDIATELY FELL IN LOVE WITH THE GENEROSITY, HONESTY, AND CONSISTENCY THAT WAS SHOWN TO NOT ONLY THE HOMELESS BUT TO THOSE THAT WERE SPIRITUALLY IN LIMBO ALSO..THE DEDICATION OF THE PASTORS AND THERE STAFF WAS BOTH AMAZING AND INSPIRING..AS I BECAME MORE INVOLVED IN THE PROJECT ALOT OF THE QUESTIONS I HAD ABOUT MY OWN PURPOSE SOON HAD ANSWERS..AND TO THIS DAY THE [ASTORS AND I HAVE A GREAT RELATIONSHIP

This place is just simply awesome. You feel bless once you walk in and see how many people (volunteer, homeless, pastors) are just hanging out as if they were in a living room (actually it is a living room)! They have many programs and many plans to supplement those programs such as GED classes, a walk in closet for people who lacks clothing, and spiritual counseling.
