I am a volunteer with the Humane Society of Saginaw County. We received a phone call from a gentleman with terminal cancer. He was concerned about the future of his 13 year old cat, Murphy and he wanted to find him a new, loving home right away. He had reached out to other rescues to try to find one to take Murphy, but they were all full. We were full also, but we could not turn our backs on this gentleman and on Murphy. We took Murphy into our adoption program and into our foster home. We took him to the vet and his blood work was perfect. We found him a new loving home a couple of weeks ago. His adopters were so emotional about the situation and they just wanted to give Murphy a loving home. A week into his adoption and Murphy is settling in just fine. I am 18 years old and a current volunteer with HSoSC. I have been with them for about 2 years. I have been able to learn so many thing; giving fluids, checking normal health, understanding different diseases and viruses, giving different meds or medical needs. But my favorite experience I have had yet was when we were introduced to Renee. She came in with the most horrible conditions, I mean fleas, skin and bones, dehydrated, bad teeth, horrible Matt’s, kept in a small cage, abused and tossed out. I held her in my arms and it felt like nothing, all this cat wanted was love, everyone spent countless hours get her to a stable health. We cried when she was turning the corner and started to eat and walk again. She was able to get so much attention and was spoiled. Months later I witnessed and confirmed her adoption. A young lady feel in love with her knowing everything that’s happened and her old age. She is now living a happy ever after.
