Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Arts & Culture, Arts, Culture & Humanities

Mission: Advance the art and craft of writing by encouraging writers and readers at all levels to participate in and enjoy the literary arts; offer classes for professional and amateur writers; present public readings by well-known and emerging prose writers and poets; provide outreach work in several community sites; and publish at least one book of poetry each year under the imprint slapering hol press (slapering hol is old dutch for sleepy hollow).

Programs: Writing workshops on a topic such as poetry, script writing, essays, etc. Reading programs by local and visiting writers both reknowned and not yet known.

publishing a book, chapbook on a given theme by a select group of writers or a collection by a single writer who has not yet published a book.

program service : outreach community outreach which sends trained writers to lead workshops for those with special needs such as the homeless.
