The hero rescue was so easy to work with. They responded very quickly to my application. They also answered my emails with questions I had prior to adopting my little dog q-tip now named pedal. Kim was so kind and so easy going and really help me get my puppy with ease. I was amazed at how well taken care of pedal was with the hero rescue. Pedal had all her shots , she was spayed and I couldn't be happier because it really did cut down on my personal vet bill with her first visit after I adopted her. The hero rescue also emailed me all of her documents, vaccinations and personal information about her. It was so nice to have all of these documents right there online for me to read and copy for when I needed them. I can't say how much joy pedal has brought to our household and if I ever adopt again I would definitely use the hero rescue. I highly recommend them to anybody who is looking to save a dog's life and give them a home.
We had the best experience working with Kristi and the foster family. Kristi was super helpful and responsive, as well as knowledgeable. We adopted Moose (formerly Farrah) and she's just perfect!
This Place is amazing. The were thorough yet not too invasive with the application process which made me feel certain this was the right choice. Everyone who i spoke to was kind and only wanted to help!Even when getting stuck when the dog i wanted was adopted, they quickly found a few more and we fell in love with Cappy (Hemi)The process was quick and they were very flexible! We are a family of 6 and we owned two Dobermans since our kids were little. Our last Doberman died a couple of years ago but we didn’t want to jump into dog ownership right away. We missed our dogs a great deal and our family didn’t feel complete so we decided to pray and wait for the right dog to come along. We thought about trying a breeder for another Doberman but then one day I went on Next Door Neighbor and saw this sweet little puppy, Tom, posted on there. I showed the kids and they were all very excited to meet him. I contacted the foster mom Kim and she told us how to proceed. It was a very simple online process. We received a call less then 24 hrs. and set up a time to meet. In the meantime, I believe the rescue was very thorough calling our vet etc. to make sure we’d be a good fit for our new perspective puppy. Kim was great, and we could tell that Tom was well taken care of by his foster family. He was a little shy at first but warmed up fairly quickly to us. Whenever he felt unsure he went right over to Kim which made us know he trusted her to protect him, another sign he was well taken care of. He had a good schedule set in place, he was well groomed, and he looked very healthy. She was very transparent about his birth and medical history too. The best part was that Kim was very intuitive and watched for signs that Tom was comfortable with us. She definitely had his best interest at heart and that too made us happy about purchasing Tom (who we later named Bear) from Hero Rescue. We were able to take him home right away and he’s been with us ever since. Oh and one more thing, our vet was very impressed by him. She said he was really healthy, and that whoever worked with him had done a good job on desensitizing him etc. So the question is would we ever purchase from this rescue again? The answer is yes! Overall we have had a wonderful experience with Hero Rescue and we couldn’t be happier. They have continued to keep in contact with us from time to time just to check in and see how we’re all doing. And I know if we have any needs or questions they are there to come along side us to help us out. They really care about the animals they rescue and their families. They put a lot of love, attention, and care into the dogs they rescue.
I fostered for my first time ever with this rescue. They really make a difference in their animals lives! The picture below is my first foster, she's from a hoarding situation and stayed in the back of her crate for 3 straight weeks. Her life is so much better now

As a foster with this organization I am amazed at the work they accomplish! They have an amazing team, and each board member just kills it in their position! They do not turn animals away due to health issues, or age. And they do they do their very best to fit these animals to their perfect forever homes. I am so grateful to be a small part of this amazing operation!
Our experience was just the best. We are head over heals with our puppy, Ruby! The Hero Rescue was wonderful to work with. We went to an adoption event and asked tons of questions, not knowing what age and breed would fit best for our family. The volunteers were super helpful and knowledgeable. When we were ready to adopt the application process was easy. Ruby has completed our family and we couldn’t be happier.
As a fully disabled adult, My Doctor recommended, just before the pandemic, that I get a puppy, eventually to become my Service Dog. I already had a dog, but he was getting into his Senior years, and I knew that it would take some time to find a puppy for adoption. Ironically, sadly, but also as if it was supposed to be, Luke, my dog while on the search for a puppy, suddenly passed away, of lifetime effects of Lyme. I was absolutely devastated, but I also felt a need for the companionship and comfort, of an animal. I applied for puppies, at least a dozen applications, to known, and New to Me, animal rescues in my area. The Hero Rescue was the last application that I submitted, but Heather of THR was also the FIRST to reply. I was shocked, as I had been applying for over a year, and my application was approved, within approximately two weeks!!! Heather made it effortless to set up a date/time with her, myself and my Mom, to see all of the rescue pups that were brought to Maryland, in a pregnant Momma Dog, from Puerto Rico. THR had my support immediately, and when I adopt again, I will absolutely be contacting Heather, and her family, as well as the Hero Rescue. They have been absolutely amazing to work with, even pre and post adoption. I am extremely grateful for the time, effort, energy, fostering, love, and nurturing, that the Hero Rescue gives to animals, and the way they do it. Thank you, so much, to The Hero Rescue, and Heather, for being such an awesome place for the safety, shelter, and post adoption programs that THR offers, and their ability to be so selfless and loving, to ANY animal. We are fosters for The Hero Rescue. They do amazing work by organizing transports of dogs to Maryland, communicating with foster families who care for them, and network to families in the community who adopt them into their pack. The Hero Rescue makes it incredibly easy for foster parents - all the supplies (food, etc.) are provided and they complete the hard work of finding these rescue pups their furever families, including an application process that ensures they are going into loving homes. All the foster needs to focus on is providing love and care to their pup in the interim. The dedication they have to these animals is nothing short of amazing - they are changing lives and making the world a better place.
As a volunteer with Hero Rescue, I have had nothing but positive experiences! The rescue is run in a very organized way and provides a very positive and supportive environment for everyone involved. The rescue comes together to do so many wonderful things for animals.
I was looking for a dog for awhile. I lost two of my dogs within 11 months of each other. I came across The Hero Rescue website when I fell in love with one of their pups. The application process was super easy and very fast. I completed my application on a Thursday evening, but mid-morning Friday, I was contacted and told that my vet was contacted, as well as my references. My references didn’t answer but called back shortly after receiving the voicemail. I was approved that afternoon. I drove to the foster’s house to pick up Laney, fka Minnie 2 that Sunday. I have dealt with other rescues in the past. This honestly was the fastest turn around time and everyone was very nice.
We rescued Charlie Brown from Hero's rescue a little over 2 years ago. They were great with customer service and we very happy with everything. Hero's Rescue is a top notch rescue.

I am a volunteer with The Hero Rescue, I work in several capacities both part of the adoption team and a foster mom. I find the teams effort with this organization is amazing. No animal is left behind and the belief there is the right family for every animal. A lot of time is put into both pre and post adoption. When a animal leaves our possession it’s not the end, we follow up with adopters for questions, help and great stories. I have fostered many animals and am still amazed from what horrible situation they came and what great lives are ahead.
They worked to matched us with the perfect new member of our family. Ryder loves his new home and our youngest son has now made a new friend for sure. Thank you!
I cannot say enough amazing things about Hero Rescue. We have fostered with them for the last year. They go above and beyond to make sure all the dogs go to the best home and get the care they need while in their rescue.
After having a negative experience with another rescue, I was hesitant to go that route again. I am beyond pleased with Hero Rescue. The people are in it for the right reasons and treat all the dogs as if they are their own. Thank you, Hero for all you do.
I adopted an abused 5 year old male rottweiler that I was told is friendly and loving. They received this dog took him straight to the vet to get neutered on Nov 10th 2021 I adopted him November 20 2021. That wasn't even the appropriate amount of time for him to completely heal. I was told he was in his crate to heal from the neutering so there is no way they could have spent time to get to know the dog. From the day I got him he was sick, very malnourished bones sticking out. I took him to the vet he had a uti they paid for the antibiotics. Well it was so bad it needed a 2nd dose of antibiotics that I paid for. He then started screaming with bowel movements, it was enlarged prostate that could possibly have come from the neutering another 2 doses of antibiotics that I paid for and now it's back again or never went away. Frequent urination but he can barely go. My vet said I need to take him to a specialist, it's move involved than what they can handle. Because he bit twice which neither were his fault I was told if I return him he will be euthanized for behavior...that's not a rescue. They need to have the dogs page,, they blocked me from being able to comment,, said I harassed and spammed their page and all I did was write an unsatisfied review.
Them we had a couple email sessions she told me if I don't return the dog by March 8th 2022 then I cannot return him and she gave me a cease and desist threat that I can't contact them anymore. You decide what kind of rescue it is and if you want to deal with them. Good luck. Well I am not harassing but you are by commenting on my REVIEW/SHARE YOUR STORY which I did. You obviously don't like it because it's not a good one. You voided the contract by no longer accepting him back after March 8th, you commented on my review so you are not honoring your own cease and desist order that I have never received. You only told me you have that. Your information in your comment is also not all true. Please stop harassing me from putting my REVIEW and STORY . Just an update and my last comment. We are at the vet and Boss has a huge mass, cancer. He has to get put down. Guaranteed he had it before I got him but only having him in "foster" for 10 days and most of that recovering from getting neutered, there was NO way anyone spent time with him evaluating him. RIP Boss. We gave you the best 4 months that we could even though we didn't know you were sick and in pain. We love you Boss

All reviews are an opportunity to improve our services, but we do not tolerate harassment. As a note, this is a violation of the cease and desist letter that was sent and confirmed as received on March 1, 2022. - Adopter was aware of his condition and rehabilitation plan before adoption. - Upon being notified about the UTI and prostate, we paid for medication and vet visit. - We have offered since the beginning, to take the dog back into rescue. - We paid for 6 sessions of training when behavioral issues arose. - We only broached the topic of behavioral euthanasia upon adopters’ latest messages where she: 1. Claimed that he had developed rage syndrome; 2. Had landed multiple severe and unprovoked bites to her and her housemate; 3. Had made no progress with sponsored training; and 4. There was no professional facility – Boarding and/or vet office – That could hold him due to aggression. There will be no more communication on the subject, per legal counsel.
Fostering for The Hero Rescue has been a very rewarding experience. The Hero Team is very responsive to questions and concerns about each animal they take in. I would recommend Hero rescue to anyone who would like to give back to their community and help animals in need.
First time foster with them and I can’t say enough!!! The animals come first, everything is so organized and I can tell that they really want the very best for their animals. Grateful for the Hero Rescue!

I had been searching for a dog for a while, and then I found The Hero Rescue! They were absolutely amazing to work with. Our dog’s foster mom (Lauren) was so sweet, and she answered every one of our questions! It also seemed like she really took the time to get to know our dog (Cash) as an individual, because her description of his personality was spot on!! We will definitely be using this rescue again in the future!
I got my dog from this rescue about a year ago! It is a great rescue they offer help and supplies if needed. They make sure the dog has the perfect home. I would definitely adopt from here again!

After trying to work with several other non profits and always missing out on the pet we wanted we went to The Hero Rescue and they did not stop working with us to find the perfect fit for us and the dog. They were so wonderful to work with!
I was alerted to a deaf and blind puppy here in Tenn. She was emaciated, covered in fleas and also had ear mites. The Hero Rescue stepped up without hesitation and said they would take her into their rescue. They provided the money for her to get veterinary care, then they coordinated a transport for that sweet, beautiful baby all the way to Maryland!
Yes, The Hero Rescue gets 10/10 from me.

Ive been a volunteer with rescues in the past that were not up to par, but the hero rescue is an absolute dream of an organization. They go above and beyond for not only their team, but the animals as well. After loosing our beloved 10 year old dog last year before the pandemic, we finally began the process of adopting a second dog.
Losing one of our dogs was hard, even more so as the pandemic began to hit! Our other dog had lost her BFF and we were left heartbroken.
Since the last 2 months the sear began to find our new furry family member, and after different hit and miss with other rescues we found “Florence.”
The Hero rescue heard our family, our requirements, our needs and found us our perfect match.
We are all in love with our Flora. She is the sweetest, most gentle and loving dog !!
I love this rescue! I recently adopted my pup Chopper (fka Lucas) from them. They are wonderful compassionate and have their dogs best interest in their hearts. Choppy is the sweetest. I am so lucky that we’ve found each other.
I fostered for Hero Rescue and ended up adopting. The group is organized and responsive. Since adopting, I am trying to foster again. They are a great group and love the animals very much. They will help with anything you need. I highly recommend.
I have seen both sides to this rescue. I have fostered and adopted from them. It is so evident how the Hero Rescue cares so deeply for every animal that walks through their doors. There are so many kind and compassionate volunteers working in a daily basis to better the lives of so many dogs. My Bailey was one of the very first adopted through the rescue’s program. The Hero Rescue is the most amazing rescue out there! There was a post on Facebook of my dog Cash with a brief description and I immediately fell in love! I submitted an application and got a response very quickly. There were a few hiccups (with my application) but Heather was very quick, helpful and responsive. She made sure that we would be a good fit for Cash and vice versa. I couldn’t have asked for a more amazing pup! He’s brought so much joy! I follow the Hero Rescue on Facebook and their work is truly awesome! Their work to help pups find their forever home is commendable.

Contacted hero rescue regarding a dog I saw on line. We were a bit out of their service area but they agreed to the adoption if we would take the dig back to Tyson for heartworm treatment. They worked with us to change dates of travel due to snowstorm! Chance ( previously Cruz) is the best dog ever . he quickly became part of our family. Hero rescue is the best!

We rescued our puppy Quartzite, now Milo, from The Hero Rescue and had such an amazing experience! His foster mom Liz took such great care of him, answered all of our questions and sent pictures of him while we waited to meet him! He has been so sweet since we brought him home. They also have an alumni Facebook group where you can follow their stories! We are so thankful and happy to have worked with The Hero Rescue! We rescued our puppy, Ranger (formerly Mario), from this rescue after seeing them at a local event. All the fosters and rescue members were so helpful throughout the entire meet & greet and adoption process. You can tell they care so much about helping these precious fur babes. They deserve so much praise for all they do each day to give these animals a better life! I’m so thankful I found them and look forward to supporting them in the future!
They introduced me to our new pup, Molasses! She was in rough shape when she arrived at the rescue, and they did a wonderful job of restoring her health! I did foster to adopt while we were finishing up her treatment, and they really helped with the veterinary care and were always there to answer my questions. This is a rescue that is dedicated to not just saving, but placing rescued dogs (and cats) in their forever homes. We were fortunate to foster a puppy last year. He was adopted by our next-door neighbor’s sister, and he is a loved and cherished companion. We also fostered a handsome cat named Brooks....but after one day, we realized he was meant to be our newest family member. He brings so much joy to everyone he meets.
I admire the the incredible time-investment and dedication of the HERO Rescue volunteers. So many wonderful animals have a new lease on life because of them.

I have had nothing but good experiences with the Hero Rescue. I will always be a big supporter of them and the work that they do. When my rescue pup came down with a really rare immunity-related neuromuscular condition, they donated prescription food to help with her recovery. They genuinely care about the lives of the dogs and are doing their part to save lives.
Very proud to be a part of this growing organization! We have a commitment to compassion for our animals and humans alike. Our volunteers are committed and genuine. They provide a warm environment for our dogs and allow for a smooth transition to their forever homes. We operate with a family approach and true dedication to the dogs’ future, far beyond “adoption” day.
Unfortunately members of this rescue are going around bashing other rescues for no reason. Many of their members were kicked out of other rescues for not following contract and conduct unbecoming.
What is the point in sending a bad review on a review 2 years after that rescue kicked you out?
