Mission: Advocating for the conservation of georgia's natural resources by providing organization, leadership and a unified strategic direction to the soil and water conservation districts of the state.
Programs: Georgia association of conservation districts, inc. (gacd) represents 43 soil and water conservation districts in georgia. Gacd has volunteers to promote conservation and inform policy makers about natural resource issues. Members work closely with partners to direct federal and state funding to maximize conservation benefits. The organization educates citizens about the importance of wise stewartship by hosting workshops, conducting field days, and distributing resource materials. They plan and implement best manangement practices (bmp's) that improve water quality in streams and reservoirs. Support scholarships and student attendance at the natural resources conservation workshops. Fund nature centers, outdoor classrooms, or learning gardens at local schools throughout georgia. Conducted field days, workshops and classes to further natural resource education for students and teachers. Offer environmental and agriculture education funds for local teachers. Conduct outreach programs throughout georgia to farmers and landowners to increase awareness of the feral swine problem in the state and assit in offering control solutions. See http://www. Gacd.
