In the early 1990's, my mother-in-law was a "participant" at the Glenner Center in La Mesa, for day care. I would take her at 8 AM and pick her up at 5 PM, four days a week Every morning she awoke and asked if she was "going to school today". She absolutely loved it there. The volunteers were knowledgeable, compassionate, kind and re-assuring. They enlisted her help serving lunch, which made her feel so important. It was wonderful for her and a much needed respite for my wife and I. She even met a gentleman there that she called her boyfriend. Problem was, she couldn't remember his name. She thought it was Earl but she wasn't sure. She always came home a happy camper.
After two years she passed away. We will always be grateful to the Glenner Centers.
