Nonprofit Overview
Mission: The mission of the Friends of the Oakland Public Library is to advance the role of the Oakland Public Library as a vital community resource and as an institution critical to the culture, education and welfare of our diverse community.
Programs: Each year, FOPL makes grants to the Oakland Public Library to enhance library services. Recent grants support early childhood reading programs, adult literacy classes, book collections and building projects. FOPL's grants to the Library total over $500,000 in the past 10 years.
