"Every once in a while, a program or a website comes along that makes a significant contribution to the genealogical community. These advances can take the form of opening access to additional records or searching, organizing or presenting those records in a new way. The new website, The Family History Guide, is a professional level, sequenced learning program dedicated to learning about genealogical research in general and specifically about the FamilySearch.org website and Family Tree program. The Family History Guide is free and fully functional. Content is being added regularly. Each of the goals is supported by valuable resources about that particular aspect of the Family Tree program. I certainly suggest that you take some time and explore and learn from this new valuable resource."

I have been using The Family History Guide to train family history volunteers for the past four years. The Family History Guide is constantly updated with new or improved content that matches the changes made in four major family history websites. The volunteers I've trained (more than 100) are all able to easily follow the step-by-step approach The Family History Guide uses to teach how to do family history. In addition, their Qwiklinks, get started videos, and other easy to follow features are an easy way to access research records or start research in areas of the world where a person needs a jump start to know where to begin. This website is amazing!

The Family History Guide, sponsored by The Family History Guide Association is a one-stop solution to learning about family history with links to thousands of resources. The completely free website is used by both the world-famous Salt Lake City FamilySearch Library and the Brigham Young University Family History Library to teach all their volunteers how to do genealogical research. For the past seven years its impact on the world-wide genealogical community has been fabulous and extensive. I have been serving at the BYU Family History Library as a volunteer for the past eight years training the new volunteers and using The Family History Guide as major basis for the instruction. This nonprofit Association is doing a great work.
