Mission: The everglades foundation is dedicated to protecting and restoring the greater everglades ecosystem. It advances its mission primarily through public education and science-based research. It has a full-time staff dedicated to communications, science and advocacy efforts, and it also provides grants to other organizations for work aligned with the foundation's mission.
Programs: The everglades foundation was instrumental in advancing efforts to restore and protect america's everglades. The foundation played a key role in securing historic levels of funding from the state of florida for everglades restoration projects, including construction of the next phase of tamiami trail bridging. The foundation supported the authorization and implementation of the central everglades planning project, a component of the comprehensive everglades restoration plan that will send water south into the everglades. The foundation also developed a curriculum for school aged children and worked to get the curriculum into florida classrooms.
