Mission: The mission of Eagles Youth Partnership is to enhance opportunities and improve the quality of life for children and youth in the Greater Philadelphia region through health and education partnerships. The Strategy for achieving that goal leverages the Eagles and its players, teamed with corporate and community partners to deliver services, grants, incentives and messages to children in a way that positively influences their lives.
Programs: The Eagles Eye Mobile serves underprivileged elementary and middle school-aged children by bringing comprehensive eye testing services directly to schools in Philadelphia and Chester. We work directly with the School Districts to communicate with the nurses in order to ensure that all necessary preparatory work is completed in advance of our visit. By combining the star power of the Philadelphia Eagles with mobile service and a non-traditional method of health care delivery, the Eagles Eye Mobile has met with much success in examining more than 26,000 children since the program began in 1996, and providing more than 75% of them with free eyeglasses. The Eagles Book Mobile provides free storybook readings and books to underprivileged children in the Greater Philadelphia region. Operating in the summer and fall, the Eagles Book Mobile brings its Storybook Man to elementary schools, libraries, summer camps and recreation centers. The Storybook Man, a costumed actor, reads to the children using several voices and body language. After the readings, each child receives a new, free book, many of which feature multi-cultural characters.
