Because of his dyslexia, not only were my son's grades suffering, but his self-esteem was as well. He was starting to act out in school due to his embarrassment, confusion, and anger. The staff at dePaul understood and embraced him from day one, they were caring and patient with him. He found allies and friends in the other students who completely got where he was coming from with zero judgement. There are still milestones to achieve, but thanks to dePaul we got our son back.
As a parent of a child that has struggled for years with reading and writing, I can't say enough good things. We had tried 3 different public and charter schools in the area without the results that we expected. She LOVES to go to school everyday and you can tell that she's retaining more of what she is reading. The small classroom setting is exactly what she needs to be able to excel.
Our granddaughter has just finished up her second year at Depaul....To say she is a changed student is putting it mildly. Her confidence soared her first year making A/B Honor Roll and she has progressed to A honor roll. Depaul School doesn't make schooling easy for the students...they make it possible. Her subjects are presented in a way that she understands them and can complete the work. Great job and we look forward to more success.
To say that the dePaul school completely changed our lives is an understatement. After kindergarden and 1st grade in public school, we were so discouraged because we just didn't know where to turn. We understood our daughter's issues but no one else did or cared to. After finding the dePaul School for Dyslexia everything turned around. Our child has central auditory processing disorder and could not begin to keep up in a classroom with a bunch of kids. The reduced class size and the method of teaching at dePaul is fabulous. On top of that these people sincerely care about each child and want then to succeed. Our daughter has since graduated from high school and gone on to more education. I don't even want to think what our life would have been like without this school. There was absolutely no hope.
My daughter just finished her first year at this school and we are so happy she is there! She went from a child who cried every day not wanting to go to school, to a child who wakes early and is excited to go to school! She had been so beaten down in public school it was scary. In one year at this school she went from a kindergarten reading ability to beginning 2nd grade reading. This school is amazing and I'll always be very grateful to the staff and teachers for bring back my happy go lucky little girl!
