The Colorado Museum Of Natural History

Programs: Visitor experience & programs: to advance its mission of igniting our community's passion for nature and science, the denver museum of nature and science presents a dynamic program of permanent and temporary exhibits (mummies, vikings, nature's amazing machines, and ultimate dinosaurs), educational films in its imax theater, and awe inspiring shows in its digital planetarium. Total museum attendance in 2017 was 1. 8 million. These individuals from all walks of life connected with us at our city park location and through a variety of offsite experiences, such as the dinosaur gulch exhibit.

research and collections: museum researchers contribute to scientific knowledge through collection and analysis of data, which are then used to generate and publish new understandings about the earth, its inhabitants, and beyond. Over 200,000 objects were added to the museum's collections in 2017. The collections staff manages, preserves, and provides access to the museum's collection of 4. 3 million objects and specimens. The research and collections division also engages in abundant educational outreach, communicating science to the general public through numerous outlets. Hightlights included the the discovery of a rare torosaurus fossil in thornton, colorado and the active engagement of the community in live excavation tours and volunteer opportunities at the magic mountain archaeological site in golden, colorado.

educational programs: diverse onsite program offerings include exciting science theater shows, rigorous teacher professional development classes, school group field trip adventures (classes), tours, overnight camp-ins, after hours curator lectures, science lounge, children's workshops and summer camps, and family activity programs. Distance learning classes reached 33 states and canada. Offsite science education offerings were reimagined and launched anew in 2017 with at your school porgrams. The next phase of offsite experiences is underway for the coming year.

other program services: gift shop and food service operations enhance the visitors stay and extend their learning through our array of educational books and merchandise. Plant operations provide a clean, safe environment.
