The Cocoon is dedicated to helping all people in need, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation, and has some unique programs in their shelter as well (they allow pets, have a criminal justice advocate, housing advocate, and a medical program, just to name a few). The staff is caring and works hard to help people who have experienced or are experiencing domestic violence, sex trafficking, sexual assault, stalking, sexual harassment, or adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

Mission: The Cocoon exists to provide safety, healing, and justice across the lifespan for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, their children, and all of those affected by abuse. We work to educate and increase awareness about abuse and commit to building a compassionate and safe community.

Direct beneficiaries per year: 717 Survivors, answered more than 7,000 calls on our 24/7 crisis line, and provided 94 survivors with safe shelter.
Geographic areas served: Wood County
Programs: The Cocoon is Wood County's only domestic and sexual violence agency, serving survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence including rape, sex trafficking and stalking, and adult survivors of childhood abuse. The Cocoon has a 24 bed emergency safe shelter, which serves single women, single men and either with children. The Cocoon is also one of the few agencies of our kind to house family pets from abusive situations. In addition to providing emergency safe shelter, advocates work approximately 90% of the time with survivors living and working within the community, providing them with legal and medical advocacy, crisis support, economic empowerment, support groups and more.
