Childrens Haven is a complete blessing to our community! The way they love and serve each child and family that walks through the door is the most selfless thing I have ever seen. The love they give is seen on every face that comes into contact with this amazing group of people...truly the most giving and amazing group of people. I deal with many non profits and can honestly say that Childrens Haven is in a league of their own when it comes to dedication, love and the well being of each child they work with. Cherokee County is blessed by their presence and role in our community!

I have interacted with The Children's Haven and its leadership for many years in a number of different ways and across its various programs. I have never been disappointed in the caliber of its people or the quality of its programs. They are simply first rate. Its leaders actively engage in the community, seeking not only to further realize its own mission but also to strengthen organizations across the spectrum. They are especially effective advancing entities that serve at risk children and families. It is awe inspiring to watch them operate -- and I say this after a career in law and serial organizational creation and scaling. While never directly a client, I would like to consider myself one of their foremost cheerleaders. God bless them in their work.

I have known a little of the Good work The Children's Haven does through contacts and colleagues for several years. Then just a year ago my wife and I learned a lot more since we took the CASA training and joined the CASA volunteers. It has caused to realize they actually do GREAT work with 5 connected but different purposes.

We have been serving as Cherokee County CASA's for more than 8 years and are amazed at how the Children's Haven continues to put the children first and to reach out to our community to grow this ministry. Also, training and keeping volunteers up to date on the changes in technology and tools is extremely critical to help volunteers have the tools needed to be successful is awesome to be a part of. We are very thankful for this organization for what it has meant to our community and especially what is means to the children it serves every single day. Jeff and Kim Costa

I started as a mentor for the Chin Up Program three years ago. I was so impressed with the positive impact made on the children and families, that I continued to volunteer in other areas. Every child should have the opportunity to be happy, healthy and realize their potential. The Children’s Haven does so much to make this a reality and it brings me joy to be a part of their efforts.

As a volunteer Court Appointed Child Advocate, I have had the privilege of meeting, training and observing visitations at The Children’s Haven. It is a welcoming, professional environment that serves Cherokee children in foster care. Cherokee county children in care face trauma and difficult challenges, so it is such a blessing to be able to have The Children’s Haven as a supporting environment for the children and those working to help them.

Children's Haven is an incredible organization as champions for foster children. The volunteers are a constant in the children's lives even as they move from home to home. They also provide services for the whole family such as space for visitations as well as skills training for parents working towards reuniting with their kids. Foster care would be a dark place without this organization.

I have been involved with many charities in my life, and The Children's Haven is one of the most well run charitable organizations I've ever volunteered with. Everyone on the staff has a true passion for what they do. This organization not only does wonderful work with the children that they serve but they go beyond and help the parents become better people through training. They give so much to the community as a whole, and we are so fortunate to have them in our area.

I was a CASA for 4 siblings in foster care for 4 years. 2 1/2 years ago the couple took in an infant. In July the couple adopted all 5 children. What a wonderful family they are. This makes volunteering very worthwhile.

The Children's Haven has been a staple in the community for many years, evolving from a singularly focused CASA organization, to an organization that has several programs spanning from court advocacy to prevention. I am so proud of The Children's Haven for stepping so boldly into the prevention territory with their very own Chin Up Mentoring Program that is all about adding support to parents and children in the community that need it. Prevent Child Abuse Cherokee is yet another preventative program that is doing the hard work of keeping children out of the foster system. The Children's Haven is top notch in how they operate, with extremely talented staff and volunteers. I can't recommend supporting The Children's Haven enough!

In my role as the Cherokee County School District System Navigator, I have witnessed The Children's Haven offer life-changing opportunities for many families in Cherokee County. The resources provided by The Children’s Haven have allowed me to serve our families better. The staff members are always willing to help and allow me to access the clothing closet available at the center. Often, I visit two or three times each week, and the door is always opened with a smile and the question, "How can we help?".

One cold, February day I visited The Children's Haven when Daphne greeted me to ask how she could help. I explained that I stopped by because I knew they would be willing to help me assist a family in need. I explained to Daphne that I needed clothes and blankets for a family without power. Michelle happened to overhear what I was asking for, and all hands were on deck to help this family. Daphne, Michelle and I pulled warm clothes for the family, found blankets and pillows, and we gathered bags of food. We loaded my car, and I was off to deliver the much-needed items to the family. The Children's Haven helps families all over Cherokee County with one question, "How can we help?" The Cherokee County School District greatly appreciates the support that we receive from The Children's Haven, as do the families we serve.

I have been a CASA volunteer for 7 years now and am so proud to be a part of what the Children's Haven is doing for our community. The Children's Haven is a huge blessing to our community and the foster children of Cherokee County. They provide a safe place for visitations, a full closet of much needed items for foster families to receive for free, a mentoring program for foster teens, most importantly a voice for foster kids in the courtroom and countless other ways they serve our community.

I have been a CASA for over 4 years and I have loved every minute of it. Having the support of the CASA Coordinators is paramount to being able to perform the volunteer responsibilities of a CASA. My coordinator listens, questions, advices me as needed to perform my duties to the best of my abilities. This is so important in order to feel certain I am providing the best advocacy for the foster children I am assigned. One if the children I advoacated for, I was assigned to for 3.5 years. She was just over 3 when I met her and 7 when she was adopted. During the years she was in foster care, she moved 14 times before she found her forever home. I being her CASA, was the only constant in her life. She knew wherever she might be taken, I would be there to help her believe she is not alone. I was her advocate, her voice in court, her friend, and a caring adult that would not go away. I made sure she had her health and educational needs met. I corresponded with her teachers, therapists, doctors, casemanagers, Gaurdian Ad Litem, biological parent, and her doctors, therapistsm and lawyers. My advocacy included helping the biological parent until it was clear she was not going to change. At her adoption, this child gave me a picture of herself and on the back she wrote, "Thank you for changing my life". She now refers to me as "Aunt" instead of "Ms.". Her adoptive mother said, "You are family! You know her longer than anyone else in her life". I am honored to continue to be a part of this child's life. It says so much about the role of CASA and the need for role in the lives of foster children whose futures are unwritten. WIthout the guidance and support of the staff at the Children's Haven, I would have a hard time understanding how to perform all the duties of a CASA.

I have volunteered for the Children's Haven for over five years. It is so rewarding to know that the time I spend volunteering truly makes a difference in a foster child's life.
Th training, support and recognition I get is far superior to any of the other organizations I have volunteered with. Some examples of the Children's Haven exceeding my expectations are:
When a parent couldn't visit her child because she couldn't afford the gas, The Children's Haven came up with a gas card for her. Or the time I wanted to replace an old soiled mattress for a child , the Children's Haven reached out to their community of donors and found a new mattress.
The Children's Haven is staffed by passionate and dedicated people and I highly recommend this organization for a rewarding volunteer experience.

The CASA Coordinators and Staff at The Children's Haven are all very accommodating and helpful. They never seem to be too busy, too tired or too involved with their work to be of assistance. The Children's Haven is involved with many programs to assist children in Foster care. Everything from having birthday cake fixings to winter coats to school supplies to Christmas Presents and the list goes on and on. All around a great group of folks to work with.

This is an awesome organization that helps children in a myriad of ways. Assistance to children through the Juvenile Court process by the CASA program. They sponsor a clothing closet - often children are must leave without a chance to gather their things. The visitation center allows children to meet their parents in a safe environment, preserving a very important relationship to the child. The Children’s Center is always there for children in the community.

The Children's Haven does extraordinary work for children. We have a wonderful team of kind, supportive, caring and empathetic staff members who work tirelessly to promote the health and happiness of children impacted by abuse and neglect. This team of mission-driven individuals serves more than 400 children each year in the Cherokee County community. They have been instrumental in positively changing lives through their assistance and support through sobriety, GEDs, new jobs, reunifications and adoptions with the families they serve. Everything The Children's Haven does is done in love and with the highest standards of professionalism. The staff of The Children's Haven received the prestigious 2022 Lamar Haley Community Service Award from The Rotary Club of Canton for the extraordinary work they do in our community. Board members attended the special Rotary meeting where the award was presented (Cherokee County Conference Center, 04/12/22).

I am very proud to be a mentor with the Chin Up program that the Children's Haven has created. As an educator and community member I appreciate the hard work and research that the program managers have put in to designing each meaningful session. The students have responded to the monthly activities with gusto! I feel each mentor is expertly matched with their mentee and both the mentors and mentees are are finding a rewarding relationship and are having fun!
I can honestly say that every student and adult in Cherokee County would benefit from the lessons we learn from each other at Chin Up!

I’m so appreciative of the volunteer opportunities provided by The Children’s Haven, specifically with their Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program. When first starting in my volunteer role over 4 years ago, I felt completely overwhelmed. The staff at The Children’s Haven did an amazing job with their training and supporting me as I took my first case. Now, six cases later, I’m extremely comfortable in my role, and still very much supported by the staff. Each case has been uniquely different and challenging in its own way, but in all the cases I am so grateful to being able to make a difference in the life of a child. The families I have worked with are coming from a place of brokenness, so to be able to provide a voice for them, to advocate in the best interests of the child, and to work toward breaking generational cycles, is extremely rewarding to me personally. My fellow volunteers come from a myriad of backgrounds, but all have in common a heart and passion for protecting and working with children of all ages to assure they have a safe, stable, and secure environment in which to grow up in, and to provide them the best chance to become successful in the future. I could go on and on about how amazing the CASA program is and share any number of success stories, but suffice to say that anyone with a heart for vulnerable children and family preservation/restoration should consider becoming a part of this amazing program.

I have been volunteering though the Children's Haven for nearly 14 years as a child advocate.
During this time, I have seen the organization grow and add needed services for the Foster Care Community. So many individuals have been impacted positively by their consistent advocacy for foster children and their families. They have created a program that provides supervised safe family visitations, they have a clothes closet that provides children with school supplies and necessary clothing, and their staff is there and supportive at every step in a child's journey to have permanency in their living environment. The staff is also very supportive of all the CASA volunteers and makes sure that they are prepared to advocate effectively and are up to date on any training that is needed. The community at large benefits immensely from having such a well run program operating in Cherokee County!

What amazes me the most about The Children’s Haven of Cherokee County is not only the paid professional staff who are committed to reuniting every child into a healthy family environment; but the enormous time and commitment that the volunteers give to the child.

We absolutely LOVE how The Children's Haven is impacting our community in such a positive way! Not only do they care about the families that they serve each and every day, they also care about how they can be great community partners. We see them at tons of community events sharing info about how they serve, but they are also at those events to support and serve other organizations that are doing great things in our community as well!
