Direct beneficiaries per year: 58,000
Geographic areas served: underserved communities throughout NYC and Long Island
Programs: Behavioral Health offers therapy by licensed mental health and substance use professionals to children, adolescents, and adults. We offer culturally sensitive assessment and treatment/counseling services, including medication management and psychiatric evaluations (when applicable), by licensed social workers, psychiatrists, registered nurses, and psychiatric nurse practitioners. Early Childhood Education provides continuous, intensive, and comprehensive child development and family support services to low-income infants, toddlers, pregnant women, and their families. Health Homes and Integrated Care is an innovative, optional plan for Medicaid-eligible individuals in New York State. A Health Home is not a physical location or home, but rather an innovative model for coordinating critical health care and other services to support an individual’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Prevention and Family Support programs serve families with children at risk of abuse, neglect, or foster care placement, as well as those who simply need extra support. Using the evidence-based Solution-Based Casework model (SBC), our case planners work with families to identify challenges and goals and create a roadmap toward achieving them. The Child Center’s Residential Treatment Facility (RTF) is a warm, coeducational program that serves 32 young people ages 12-18 who have had multiple psychiatric hospital stays and juvenile justice-involved youth with psychiatric disorders. Our program offers holistic care that supports each resident’s cognitive, social-emotional, and physical well-being. Our youth development programs help young people ages 5–24 develop cognitive, social-emotional, and physical skills. We offer a range of programs, from extended day, job preparation and college readiness to school-based mental health and community schools.
