Mission: CBC was founded in 1986 by Marcondes B. Marques to address the social problems that negatively affect the children in third world countries. Currently the organization is working to offer opportunities of education and training to children in slum communities of Fortaleza Brazil. Thousands of children in this city receive substandard education which traps them in the cycle of generational poverty. Only 32% of the children in the city study past the 4th grade. An after school program attends over 210 children and youth offering tutoring and homework assistance and classes in Art, music, drama, typing, computer, Christian Education, English as a second language, and Physical education. We presently work with children ages 7-17 in grades 1-10.
