Cetacean Society International is the benchmark for all whale conservation organizations. It has been active for more than 45 years initiating programs and attending International Whaling Commission meetings where important decisions are made concerning legal whaling efforts around the world.
All officers, directors and board members volunteer their time and finances. In its entire history, CSI has never paid these dedicated professionals a single penny in salary or benefits. They truly care about the mission to limit the amount of whale deaths by commercial and aboriginal whaling nations.
93% of total donations support the efforts made on behalf of whales. The other 7% of expense covers mostly legal and accounting fees required for non-profits.
They also have the best whale adoption program in the world. It is a one-time contribution (not an annual request to readopt) and you not only learn about the individually named whale but you receive a DVD showing that particular whale in the wild. The value is that seeing the whale helps you relate to the issues facing whales which increases all whale conservation efforts.
I have been a member of CSI for many years, and am always impressed by its dedication, and its wise use of funds. The organization is all volunteer. CSI has made a major impact on whale conservation throughout its 40 year history, with both a local and international presence. The organization offers a whale adoption program that is both educational and fun for the family.
CSI provides a path to really help whales and dolphins. There are no paid positions at CSI, an all-volunteer board ensures that 93% of your much appreciated donations support our very worthwhile programs.
If you care about cetaceans and are in a position to contribute, please help us. You don't need money to help whales, but we do.
