Mission: The brain tumor network (btn) is dedicated to providing compassionate, personalized services to brain tumor patients and their caregivers. Btn's mission is to assist patients and health care providers who seek information about treatments beyond standard of care. Btn was launched in late 2014 by the sontag foundation in response to unmet informational needs voiced by individuals diagnosed with primary brain tumors and their family members.
Programs: Patient navigations services are the core program of the brain tumor network (btn): with the scarcity of information regarding personalized treatment information available to individuals in the usa diagnosed with primary brain tumors, btn provides important informational services to patients, caregivers and care providers. Our team of nurse navigators and social workers respond to online requests and telephone inquiries to meet patients/families wherever they are in their brain tumor treatment journey and to help them gather the information they need to explore their next steps with their healthcare providers. Btn assists patients in collecting their medical records, facilitates second opinions and consultations, helps identify specialty providers near ones' home communities, helps identify centers of excellence, conducts personalized clinical trial searches, and assists in ascertaining eligibility for participation in identified trials. Btn does not provide medical advice, but btn does provide information to assist patients and care providers in participating in important conversations with their healthcare professionals.
