Causes: Centers to Support the Independence of Specific Populations, Human Services
Mission: Our mission is to provide a therapeutic, consistent, caring and safe environment for adolescents who thus far have not been manageable in the community, by providing social skills, education, and emotional support enabling them to become autonomous, productive individuals in society.
Programs: 1a) the residential treatment facilities ("rtf") are co- educational 56-bed medicaid-funded, long-term psychiatric treatment facilities for teenagers. There are two rtf facilities. 1b) the aichhorn school, housed in each rtf, is a secondary special education school chartered by the new york state board of regents under article 81 of the state education law to service the 56 residents in both aichhorn rtf facilities. 1c) the yasl is a co-educational supported living "home" with 6 beds intended for young men and women (roughly 18 to 25) who have spent extended parts of their adolescence in congregate care settings (generally foster care or psychiatric facilities).
