I am an artist in this valley and I was excited to take a class at the Wyle Community Art Center. Well, I was just blown away by the experience! I was moved by the instuctor and he may have changed the way I see and the way I paint, forever. I found the environment very welcoming and encouraging. It was very comforable and interesting just the way you would want a community art center to be. And then it was such high quality instruction! I think this center is invaluable to young and old alike in this area. It creates the richness in living here.
My daughter takes the Advanced Art Club lessons on Tuesdays after school. The other day, she said that she wished every day was Tuesday. She loves the class, loves her instructor, and learns a lot. As a parent, I know that she is learning how to think creatively, problem solve, and building self esteem. Thank you Wyly for offering such a great program.
In 1999, I joined a group of community members who wanted to see an art center established in the mid-Roaring Fork Valley. In 2004, our vision was realized when the Wyly Art Center decided it wanted to move from Woody Creek to Basalt in order to reach more community members. In 2005, the Wyly Community Art Center was operating in Basalt. in 2010, the Wyly was offered the opportunity to move into the former Basalt Library building in downtown Basalt. Since 2010, the Wyly has blossomed in its new location serving twice as many community members in 2011. From after-school children's art enrichment to adult art workshops and special programs for the developmentally disabled and at-risk teens, the Wyly is your community art center, fostering creative expression through the visual arts for all ages and all abilities. Stop in to see outstanding local artist exhibitions, or take a class, no experience required! See how creating art can help you think differently, envision new possibilities, problem-solve better, and enrich your community.
