My first event with The Arc was at their "take me out to the ballgame" event. The event was well organized, fun and was truly a community event. It was easy to see how much this organization cares about the people they serve. I look forward to being a part of future events!
This is a great place to send our family members. The staff are professional. They provide a variety of activities in the community and in my experience, THEY CARE!
I wish that there were more places like this one. Places that are safe, encouraging and caring. I would not hesitate to recommend The Arc to others who may be looking for places for their family members.
Incredibly capable and dedicated staff. The Arc has made wonderful advancements in building strong divisional teams to offer quality and innovative supports to those with physical, intellectual and developmental disabilities. Most recently The Arc has expanded its supports to families and in the area of sexuality within the population served. What a quality team and organization!
The Arc of Opportunity provides much needed, much valued services to a wide range of underserved populations. They teach valuable, practical skills to the individuals who receive services at their agency or in their own homes. With a very invested workforce, they are able to work with individuals receiving services to achieve their goals and to connect them in meaningful ways to the larger community.
If you are seeking services for a loved one with developmental disabilities, do not consider The ARC in Fitchburg. Reminiscent of an institutional mentality, this organization offers nothing that is progressive or life enriching for those they claim to serve. There is no advanced clinical supports nor does this agency have a firm grasp on serving or providing the younger population with integrated, fulfilling opportunities. The day program consists of clients being parked in front of televisions while an unskilled, unmotivated workforce struggles to meet their basic physical needs. The CEO has lied and cheated her way into local legislator's favorability. She has numerous complaints with the Massachusetts commission against discrimination (MCAD) for unlawful employment practices, and complaints with DDS and the State attorney general for unethical business practices. If you are seeking employment in this very rewarding field, bypass the ARC of Opportunity. This agency needs to be audited and shut down.
