The "Why" behind this charity is incredible and heartening. The founder's personal childhood experience of homelessness and a local, giving family that let his family stay in their home at Christmas, eat their food, play their games, watch their TV - while that family left town - is truly touching. He promised himself that he would help others if he was ever "rich" - which meant, if he had a place to stay. He has committed to that promise and feeds hungry families every Thanksgiving, exceeding the number every year with the help and generosity of others. There are many children that don't have food, unless they are out of school, so this is truly a need, during the 4-day Thanksgiving break. 100% of the profits go towards the charity - there are no administrative fees, nobody on salary - nothing. It's a lot of work and time and he is dedicated to seeing this through, every year, with the help and support of his family, friends and local businesses. By far, the best charity I have every had the pleasure of helping!
Thanksgivings Heroes is one of the best charities I have been involved with. They provide the most necessary items to a family - food. Without them, most of the children and families would not have the option to have a Thanksgiving Meal. All funds raised for Thanksgivings Heroes goes directly to buying food for the families. If you have a charity you want to get involved with and truly impact someone, this is your charity.
I heard the founder of the charity speak at an event and explain why he was so invested in helping children with the charity. It touched me and I wanted to assist immediately. I have seen many people involved in assisting them in their mission and how passionate everyone is that is involved. I am grateful I have gotten involved with them.
This non profit has not only enriched my life, it has enriched my family's lives including my children. We have been given the opportunity to help those who need it, and feel great ful for our own blessings. At a time where there is so much negativity in the world it is refreshing to have the chance to go help others.
3 years ago I was prompted by several people to donate some of my time to deliverying Turkey dinners to families the day before Thanksgivings. I showed up a location and walked thru a very organized line with a grocery cart and filled it up with 3 full blown dinners to deliver to 3 less fortunate families. I took my 18 year old son. We both had tears in our eyes as we drove off from our last delivery. It was a very humbling and needed experience. Thank you Rob Adams for following thru with your childhood dream. We felt like Heroes!
