Causes: Crime & Law, Legal Services
Mission: Fighting the legal issues that put people in poverty, trap people in poverty, and punish people for being in poverty.
Results: More than $16,000 in savings to our clients since March 2020!
Target demographics: people experiencing poverty
Direct beneficiaries per year: we received our 501(c)(3) status in March 2020, although it's back dated to October 2019, so we've only been officially in business since COVID started and since then we've saved our clients more than $16,000.
Geographic areas served: Central Texas
Programs: free legal representation from our staff attorneys to our neighbors facing evictions and the criminalization of homelessness, as well as working to waive court costs and prevent incarceration for those who can't afford to pay. We also help clients regain their driving privileges, clean their criminal records, and remove arrest warrants for fine-only offenses.
