Nonprofit Overview

Mission: Our mission is promoting the humane treatment of animals in Texas via legislation, education and advocacy. We are a mainstream voice for the animals of Texas: companion animals, homeless animals, horses, farm animals, native Texas wildlife and captive exotic animals alike. THLN is like no other animal welfare non-profit in Texas, advocating for animals by speaking directly to our elected leaders at the Texas Legislature. Our advocacy brings attention to the untold numbers of animals throughout Texas who suffer horrific abuse and neglect at the hands of humans.

My wife works for this organization. The team is passionate about their work for Texas dogs, especially with the recent passing of the Safe Outdoor Dogs Act. Relying on donations and many volunteers to continue to bring about change to animal welfare legislation.

I discovered the Texas Humane Legislation Network (THLN) almost 10 years ago at one of the many dog-centered events held here in the DFW area. Being an animal lover and a lover of politics, I was instantly drawn to their mission of promoting animal welfare throughout Texas. I instantly signed up to volunteer and have been tabling events since, from earth day events to dog-centered events to political conventions. I love the passion and level-headedness of the way they go about creating legislative change in this state for those beings that need a voice.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G organization that has accomplished so much to improve the lives of millions of Texas animals. With 40 years of grassroots advocacy, they have written and worked tirelessly to pass countless animal welfare laws - the cruelty statute, humane euthanasia, puppy mill law, and many more. Other groups take credit for THLN’s work, but THLN is the boots on the ground that makes these laws happen.

Wonderful organization. I highly recommend the Texas Humane legislation network. In fact, thank God they exist. THLN works hard To get laws passed for the betterment of all animal’s lives. They recognize the amount of cruelty And neglect in the state of Texas And aim diligently to get laws passed and make improvements on shelters, etc. I am personally in communication with a member of THLN regarding a terrible cruelty case in eastern Texas involving the deputy office there where the deputy who answered the call failed to press charges. Pay attention deputies and sheriffs!! Animal cruelty is a felony, it must be taken seriously! Charges must be made!

Thank you to you THLN For all your hard work.

I am currently working with Shelby and Christine to make a presentation at the Rotary Club in Canton, TX.It has been a pleasure working with them to get this set up. Canton has a unique situation in that Dog (Parvo) Alley is across the highway from the First Monday grounds that draws thousand of visitors to the city. My hope is to make our city and county officials familiar with THLN and find a way to end the abuse and more so the sickness that comes out of Dog Alley. The meeting is Thursday, 27.2020 so wish us luck. It is a good time to have this meeting because a lot of the folks that are running for office have replied yes to coming!!!!!

I am a supporter of THLN and currently serve on the Advisory Board. I also formerly served on the Board of Directors. THLN is the voice for animals in Texas. Numerous animals have better lives and are spared from further suffering as a result of animal protection legislation. THLN makes it possible for prosecutors to seek punishment for the offenders in our courts of law. Not only is THLN seeking justice for the victims of abuse, they are raising the standards of humane treatment for animals in communities throughout Texas. Raising our voice for the animals is the best thing we can do for all animals.

Currently the city of Crockett Tx Houston Co is without a shelter or animal control officer, which is finally after over 100yrs i going to change . The only rescue in the county is a 501c3 non profit located in Crockett founded Nov 2015 works closely with the police chief to improve their current situation by improving the ordinances and educating the community. Currently the rescue is the only service available for abandoned , neglected or abused animals in Houston, Trinity, Polk and Leon Counties. CPAC is a donation dependent private foster based rescue that must conduct monthly fundraising events to assist with incurring vet bills and care for animals, several of which are very ill or carrying infectious diseases and parasites they contracted while on the streets. Without our intervention these animals would have continued to spread disease before perishing on the streets alone.

Our goal is to educate the public on the necessity of spay and neuter programs, bring awareness to the plight of the animals in our area and promote change.

THLN has been a HUGE help in the effort to improve our city ordinances, locating grants to build a municipal shelter and reference guide to animal related education opportunities for our law enforcement and community. This organization is irreplaceable! The work they do every legislative session is without words. If you are not involved, you need to be, it’s the most rewarding experience you will have, great people to work with.

THLN has been so helpful in getting laws passed to help the animals in Texas. Thanks to THLN, I have learned how to talk to my representatives and how much our voices do matter.
THLN is making a huge difference for the helpless animals and I’m grateful for all their hard work.

I have been involved with THLN for over 20 years. THLN gives me hope that the lives of animals in Texas will continue to improve. I started as a volunteer with THLN and eventually served on the Board - it is an organization that makes a difference; it is an organization that fights for those that have no voice. Because Texas is the only organization of its kind in the state and because of the success it has had over the past 40+ years, other states have asked THLN to help create and grow a "THLN" in their state - there is really no better endorsement than that. It is an organization I have been proud to serve in for a great deal of my adult life.

I've been on the Board of THLN for nearly 20 years. This working board is made up of hard working and dedicated animal welfare advocates. Most of us have full-time jobs and families with multiple responsibilities. I can assure you that we would not devote our "off" time to THLN if we did not believe in the work and advocacy that THLN stands for. We are a board that wants to do the right thing, strives to do the right thing and makes it our mission to do the right thing for the animals in the State of Texas.

THLN is a one of a kind, statewide advocacy group for animals that has been working in Texas for over 40 years. They are known throughout the country for their professionalism in representing the sentient creatures who have no voices in the halls of power. Their achievements are many and have included passing bills to mandate law enforcement training in canine encounters, unjust restraint legislation (a bill which we are now working to upgrade), animal cruelty legislation, and a law to define and require adequate shelter and care. I am proud to be a volunteer with this group and to work in my community to advance their efforts with my elected officials.

I learned about THLN because of neglected dogs that I am concerned about in the local community. I hope more people join THLN’s efforts and show lawmakers that Texans do care about animals and together we can become a model state for humane animal laws. Success comes in cans! I can, you can, WE can!

Being involved with Texas Humane Legislation Network (THLN) for past decade has been a fun and eye-opening journey. THLN's primary mission is to legislate, educate, and advocate for the humane treatment of all animals in Texas. It is a one-of-a-kind organization in which the bulk of the monies donated and fundraised go straight to lobbying for humane animal laws at the Texas capital. THLN's leaders and local chapters afford volunteers the opportunity to be as involved as they wish in the legislative process. My volunteer experience encompasses a wide array of roles from fundraising chair, central texas chapter president, community outreach, and field constituent coordinator. It's all been so exciting and I have learned so much about Texas politics, animal welfare movement, and most of all, have formed and kept long-lasting friendships with like-minded people. Love this organization and their cause! Here's to 10 more years!

THLN works quietly and powerfully every day to help make the lives of Texas animals better. If there is legislation coming down the line that will affect Texas animals, they either know about it, have influenced it, or have drafted it, or are working against it (if it's evil) or trying to get it tweaked to advance animal welfare. They are not out on the streets with bullhorns telling everyone how great they are 24/7--they work quietly and effectively behind the scenes. Their accurate and timely information and legal research is respected and valued by our Texas legislators. They have made a huge difference in advancing animal welfare in Texas and I recommend them wholeheartedly.

I support and applaud the efforts of THLN and its important work here in Texas. I'm always impressed by the vision of its leaders and the incredible efforts put forth by the staff and volunteers. It's nice to know that someone is working for the animals here in Texas. With the next legislative session looming in January, I know they are already hard at work gearing up. Keep up the great work!

I attended my very first THLN meeting years ago. I left with a completely new understanding of what the "big picture" in animal welfare truly is. THLN works tirelessly to change the lives of thousands of animals in our state. The work they do truly matters. It is work that accomplishes the most important goal there is; making sure humans demonstrate compassion for other beings. I am always grateful to THLN members for being so approachable and helpful. I have attended a THLN conference and will always appreciate that opportunity. Thank you THLN for fighting to make the "big picture" something we can look at and be proud of.

THLN is a great organization for those of us who are passionate about animals and their welfare. I have always been pleased to see their volunteers set up at many dog events throughout Austin and surrounding cities. It wasn't until I attended one of their meetings regarding the tethering laws in the state of Texas, did I realize just how important they really are, not just for dogs but for all animals. In that one meeting alone, I learned that we have to stick together and be persistent if we really want to see positive change. I learned that they introduced laws into legislation for the protection of different species. I cannot imagine where our animals and their rights would be if this group did not exist. I admire the passion in each volunteer that I have met and hope to volunteer for THLN in the near future. In the meantime, I make sure to let everyone I know that this organization exists and encourage everyone to sign up for their updates. I am grateful to know that in the state of Texas the voice of the voiceless is heard through THLN.

I truly appreciate what the people at THLN do for animal justice in Texas. Stacy is a wonderful spokesperson and very motivated. I donate to this organization on a regular basis. Not only do they work to change laws to protect animals, they are a resource if you suspect animal abuse or have questions on legislation and can point you in the right direction. Thank you to everyone who gives their time and money to THLN.

Texan Humane Legislation Network has given me purpose and direction. Their goals have fulfilled my need to help in a way I wasn't aware I could. After finding THLN, I find myself seeing change in a positive way that I never would have imagined. THLN is making improvement in leaps and bounds. I am proud to say that I am involved with THLN and look forward to years of contributing to more, much needed, improvement.

I was introduced to Stacy at the Texas Humane Legislation Network through a co-worker. From my very first correspondence with her, she has been amazing! One of the sweetest people I have met & offering not only her personal support, but reaching out locally in her area to find us volunteers for our event. THLN also shared our event to help gather support. Stacy has also helped, reaching outside of her area, to put us in contact with other activist in Texas to join protests in their area. Stacy & THLN always go above & beyond. They do such great work, educating people on animal rights issues & supporting important legislation, but also supporting other groups in their efforts as well! I would recommend that anyone in the Texas area should support this wonderful organization & help promote animal protection in Texas!

I discovered the Texas Humane Legislation Network (THLN) five years ago by way of the HSUS Lobby Day at the Texas Capitol. I was instantly impressed and smitten with THLN's cause and members. They are the epitome of nipping animal cruelty at its core, through getting legislation passed or killed for the betterment of animals in Texas. I always tell my friends that "THLN is in my blood". I'm never going to stop fighting right along with the many professional, smart, and dedicated members that comprise over 6000 likeminded folks in Texas.

For the animals always.
