I'm an oil industry retiree and a TEM volunteer currently helping with accessioning some donated items in the museum's permanent collection. The museum's primary appeal for me is the history it holds and invites visitors into, with a clearly explained diversity of displays ranging the length and breadth of the industry. I've had the pleasure to see young school groups visit the museum and the care with which they are accommodated and shepherded by museum personnel. Anyone who visits TEM, regardless of age, will benefit to some degree!

Mission: The purpose of the Texas Energy Museum is to encourage an understanding and appreciation for petroleum and other energy resources through the collection, preservation, interpretation, and exhibition of historical and scientific objects related to energy and especially the petroleum industry.
Target demographics: K-12 students, young visitors, families, underserved communities, and the general public.
Direct beneficiaries per year: 10,000 Pre-K - 12 Southeast Texas children in Texas Oil History and STEM education.
Geographic areas served: Our educational programming primarily targets children in Southeast Texas, aiming to foster an early understanding and appreciation for energy and STEM concepts through engaging programs like tours, Energy Station, Rock the Science, Energy Express, Dinosaur Day, and Bubble Day. However, as a public museum, the Texas Energy Museum serves a much broader audience, welcoming local, national, and international guests to explore our exhibits and learn about the history and science of energy, particularly the petroleum industry.
