Texas Citizens United for the Rehabilitation of errants (Texas CURE) is an inmate/inmate family support organization. We interact with inmates, their family members, and Texas prison officials in an effort to resolve problems an inmate may have, whether it i s a lack of medical attention, a disciplinary dispute, guard abuse, etc. We also have a Fan Program that provides free fans to indigent inmates. So far in 2015 we have provided more than 900 fans at a cost of over $12,000 dollars. The Texas summers are brutal. Inside temperatures have been recorded as high as 130 degrees. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice currently has four wrongful death suits pending against it because of heat-related deaths. Texas CURE is an all volunteer organization with no paid staff.
