Causes: Environment, Pollution Abatement & Control
Mission: TCE Fund's primary mission is to empower people to protect the public health through a cleaner environment, and promote increased access to the governmental policy-making process so that people and community groups can help shape the decisions that affect their lives.
Results: In 2009 and 2011, TCE Fund's research on e-waste recycling and export and its grassroots education campaigns led to the creation of statewide programs for TV and Computer recycling funded by producers. "Extended producer responsibility" or EPR programs such as these lower costs to local taxpayers and incentivize sustainable product design.
Target demographics: improve recycling, reduce waste and eliminate pollution statewide
Direct beneficiaries per year: divert millions of pounds of e-waste from landfills by improving recycling programs and community awareness
