My girlfriend and I had signed up for the Full Moon Hike a couple of month's ago. Unfortunately the hike was rained out and cancelled. Last night, we finally got to go on the Full Moon Hike and it was quite enjoyable. Our guide, Kathleen, was very informative about the vegetation we past along the way, the differences made to certain trails for those of us who had hiked the Center before, and (her being an ornithologist), she was able to tell us about the birds making the sounds that we heard. The only less than favorable part was that the mosquitos were also on the hike. The bug spray helped a lot! Oh, almost forgot, a young bear was spotted at the Center earlier in the day, so that added a bit of anticipation to the evening.
Tenafly Nature Center has been the star attraction of our past 7 fundraisers. They educate and the animals charm.
The Tenafly Nature Center was a big part of my happy childhood in Tenafly, during the 1960's and 1970's, when my family lived in Tenafly.

We love the Tenafly Nature Center. My daughter had a really fun and unique 7th birthday party at the TNC. We go hiking frequently on the trails. And now while my daughter’s school is shut down, she’s able to attend an in-person, safe, after school program at the TNC. We are so grateful for the TNC.
Tenafly Nature Center is a very special place. It brings awareness to the general public about the importance of nature preservation and protecting the environment. It's a great resource for the community and offers great educational programs to kids and adults alike. A true jewel in the heart of Tenafly.
It was wonderful to be able to get outdoors and safely hike during this pandemic. TNC has done a fantastic job of offering high interest activities for the children where they can be outdoors learning about nature. My daughter is now 10 and we still enjoy walking through the trails doing the story walk.
Always an amazing experience and highly trained staff. I love that this is part of our community. We had our son's birthday party here a few years ago and the staff was so engaging and the kids loved it. We also enjoy a lot of their offerings such as summer camp, moonlight hikes and more.
Always open and good for families as well as solo hikers. Outstanding trail maintenance. First rate educational programs for children and the community. A real gem of a place.
We have had so many great experiences at the Tenafly Nature Center. I have brought both of my daughters' Girl Scout troops here where we have gone on night hikes, tried apple cidering and maple sugaring, and sang songs around the campfire. As a family, we have hiked their various trails and planted trees. There is always something fun and exciting to do and learn at the Tenafly Nature Center!
TNC, while being a protective force for untouched forested land, teaches important values to current and next generations of good citizens. Children are taught and shown the wildlife our region supports and how our lives affect their survival. Anyone who visits the center or walks its trails can appreciate the beauty their ecological responsibility brings. It’s a cherished haven for area residents. Our community is better because of TNC.
The Tenafly Nature Center is my refuge and home away from home. It's where I feel safe, where I can destress, where I can bond with my children and where I can walk freely without fear of infection. My children have enjoyed the numerous camps they have had there and I am and will continue to be a supporter of this center.
The TNC Is a wonderful place that offers unique programming for kids and adults alike! My family has been going regularly for 20 years and I feel it’s one of the best parts of living in Tenafly.
I grew up in Tenafly and loved visiting the Tenafly Nature Center regularly. It was and remains a sanctuary for our community. I recall birthday parties, family walks, and animal sightings. I even volunteered here when I was in high school in the 1990s. Moving back to Tenafly later in life as a parent myself, I have been delighted to connect my children to this special place. We are lifetime members and my children love going to the TNC. It was a particularly comforting place at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic when everything was closed including school. Our frequent walks brought much needed smiles to all of our faces. We treasure this oasis. As an environmental non-profit professional myself, I know how hard it can be to sustain programs in such unusual times. Tenafly Nature Center goes above and beyond in its offerings, management, and protection of this land which is so vital to our community on many levels.
