Had a similar experience like the prior review. Tried adopting a cat three times from the Petsmart in Warwick. Kept getting emails the cat we applied for was adopted. Come to find out through a previous volunteer, we were denied due to missing vet records. The records missed were because of Covid and our vet canceled all routine appointments. Why should we be punished for that? The volunteer we ran into there was super rude as if she didn't want to be there. My friend who used to volunteer for them, left, because of how unorganized their operation is.
My Sister put an application for a black baby girl that was found on the streets and then "rescued" by ten lives. She was sitting in the smallest cage in pet smart right next to her dirty litter box. I understand the living conditions of being in petsmart waiting to be adopted. With that said, it pulled on my Sister's heartstrings immensely, she put in the application. The volunteer responded and did her very thorough process. My sister had 2 other cats in her house one still a baby at only one year, fully vetted and neutered and a healthy 13 year old senior who had missed some annual exams at the vet due to the huge stress it was for him. They ended her adoption request for that absolute nonsense excuse. While ending the adoption process the 20 year old foster "volunteer" gave medical advice that my sister should medicate her 13 year old cat to bring him to the vet! She didn't care that my sister was looking out for the best interest of her senior cat. When confronted about the shadiness of this interaction, there was silence. When questioned on facebook I was blocked. The poor baby cat is still sitting in her cage to this day curled up in a ball withdrawn and does not respond to humans saying hi. At least let us know you would investigate your foster volunteer! The more we were met with silence, or blocking, the more suspicious I have become that the cats in this rescue are pawns.
This is Luke that was found in an abandoned home by us, and given to a foster mom at Ten lives. Happy to say that we have adopted Luke and he is a loving spoiled part of a family. Thank you Ten Lives for all that you do!
Ten Lives Cat Rescue goes above and beyond. They help the cats that no one else will take a chance on and they don't shy away from medically complex, the undersocialized, and so many other cases. Their passion to help kitties shines through in all their efforts, I couldn't recommend volunteering, fostering, and adopting from them enough. Will forever be grateful for my Squeak + Peppurr!
I have been fostering and volunteering with Ten Lives Cat Rescue since September 2018! After fostering 30+ cats, I adopted 2 of my fosters in early 2021. Fostering with Ten Lives has been a rewarding and fulfilling experience not just for me, but for my entire family. What started as basically kitten fever has turned into part of my every day life. I started out fostering a mom and her solo kitten and since then I have taken on volunteer roles of increasing responsibility. There really isn't anything that I haven't done. In addition to making a difference in the community cat population we serve, I have learned more than I thought possible about cats, taught my children through action about compassion for animals, and made an incredible network of friends that are just as passionate about the well being of cats. Ten Lives was started to help an underserved population of cats and 3.5 years later I can proudly say that we do just that. As the Intake Coordinator, there is not a cat that we turn down based on age or medical condition. We take in cats that others cannot or do not due to limited resources. Cats do not have a time cap while they are in our care, they are welcome to stay as long as they need to before moving on to their forever home. If it wasn't for Ten Lives, my two foster fails pictured would certainly have not survived on the streets. They arrived in our care with their two other littermates, all four suffering from conjunctivitis, something commonly found in stray cats. My boy Javier's case was extreme and he developed thick scar tissue over both eyes. After months of continuous treatment, I was able to see his eye for the first time. Javier may never have perfect vision as there is still scar tissue and damage to both eyes, but he is safe and loved and perfect just the way he is. He and his sister Rogelia have definitely completed our family and they make great foster role models to our current foster crew. I can't say enough great things about Ten Lives for all of the things they have provided to me over the last few years. They are a real pioneer in the cat rescue world and I am proud to be a part of it all.
I have been a foster, volunteer and adopter with Ten Lives Cat Rescue since 2018. It has been one of the most amazing experiences to have had the opportunity to watch Ten Lives grow from 2018 to present. I continue to be constantly BLOWN AWAY by the work that Ten Lives does. Every year since inception, Ten Lives has saved even more cats than the prior year (including during the pandemic!) I genuinely cannot recommend a more worthy, non-profit rescue to volunteer with. If you want to support a hardworking, reputable rescue that constantly goes above and beyond--look no further than TLCR!
Ten lives has amazing leadership with BIG goals for the future. Ten Lives functions as a close-knit team and is comprised of some of the most caring, kindhearted, compassionate, self-less and giving humans that I have ever met. I am constantly blown away by the level of support, encouragement, and teamwork displayed. Volunteers care not only about TLCR's cats, but also about each other.
One of the most inspiring things to me is the fact that Ten Lives says YES to helping the most vulnerable cats who are in the greatest need of help. These are cats other rescues or shelters turn away due to costs and resources required (such as seniors, very ill cats, bottle-fed kittens, etc). Ten Lives was founded due to this massive, unmet need.
In my personal experience, Ten Lives spent over $3,000 for one of my senior fosters for a surgery to vastly enhance his quality of life, knowing he was still worthy of experiencing a full quality life, even at age 14. (Which was in addition to covering an 800+ dental too for him—and only charging a $125 adoption fee). Ten Lives constantly goes above and beyond, covering dental surgery for dozens of cats (something no other rescue, to my knowledge, covers) as well as specialist visits if needed. Every decision made, from medical care, to approving a final adopter, centers around what is in the best interest of each individual cat.
Volunteering with Ten Lives has truly been one of the best decisions that I have ever made. I am so grateful for all the new friends I have made, the knowledge I have gained, and the growth I have experienced.
We adopted our fur baby, Max, (FKA Tiger) back in March from Petsmart in Warwick through Ten Lives Cat Rescue. Everyone we dealt with throughout the entire adoption process were professional and friendly. You can tell that all the volunteers have the same dedication and goals—to get each cat into a safe, loving, and perfect match furever home. We were able to meet Max in the store and it was an instant bond, I cried! I knew he was meant to be with us! My fiancé and I were able to do a phone interview and a meet and greet with the foster family he was previously with to make sure he was the perfect fit for our home and vice versa. We would highly recommend working with them to adopt a fur baby!
Several months ago, we adopted our cat, Ollie, from Ten Lives Cat Rescue. The character traits listed in his description on the Ten Lives website matched him to a tee, which speaks volumes about this organization. The foster families truly understand these animals and want to make the best match possible with potential adopters.
From start to finish, Ollie’s adoption process was seamless. Each of the Ten Lives volunteers that I encountered was helpful, informative and friendly. Their interest in Ollie’s well being even extended to the period after we brought him home, with several check-ins through email or text. It is evident that everyone associated with Ten Lives Cat Rescue is truly dedicated to the well being and safety of the animals in their care. I wholeheartedly recommend using this organization if you are considering adopting a cat
Everyone we have interacted with has been outstanding! They care so much about every animal they work with and I’m so glad to see the amazing support they receive back! Will continue to adopt and work with this wonderful group. We adopted our cat Ripley about 6 months ago and she is the absolute perfect match for my partner and I. We couldn’t be happier!
I adopted Edgar at the beginning of April from petsmart in Warwick, it was very quick and easy. I knew he was the one. He’s very timid with everyone but now every night he comes around for some rubs , he’s really cute. He’s getting more comfortable every day. So cute
Our experience with Ten Lives was wonderful. We were able to get our beautiful boy, Bug, who has brought us so much joy. They made the process easy and safe. Thank you for all you guys do!
We adopted a fabulous kitten one year ago. He is such a love bug and I am so thankful for him. Our experience with Ten Lives was wonderfully smooth and efficient. The foster homes do such a great job raising these cats and kittens to be well adjusted and sweet. I can not recommend this organization enough.
We have fostered and adopted cats from Ten Lives. Our journey began with our considering adopting. Our kids were 12 and 8 and wanted a pet. My husband and I decided fostering was a great way to give back to the community and to feel out our family and the willingness to help of the kids. In our first year fostering we were tasked with caring for 23 feline friends! Each foster had their own personality and made an impression on our family. We foster failed 1 cat, Nickel and she brings joy and laughter to us daily with her playful kitten like behavior. We have since moved and being farther away aren’t fostering at this time. We decided it was time for Nickel to have a playmate again and returned to TlCR to adopt Daphne! Daphne is slowly adjusting to our home, family and her kitty sibling.
Fostering and adopting have been decisions that made us better people and better pet patents.
The volunteers at TLCR are now our friends and are the kind of people that you want your kids to grow up to be.
Thank you Ten Lives!
We recently adopted little Frankie from Ten Lives Cat Rescue and he has brought so much joy to our household! The whole adoption process went very smoothly for us and the communication between from the staff and Frankie's foster mom couldn't have been better. I especially love how they check in after a month or so to see how the cat and family are adjusting. They also make sure that you know they are available at any time should anything come up or if there are any questions about your new family member. I would highly recommend this organization, and should I ever adopt a kitten/cat again, they would definitely be my first call!
My experience with ten lives cat rescue was fantastic from start to finish!! The interview, Diandra, made sure my kitten was a great match for me and my family, and was extremely passionate and caring on the phone. The foster mom was just as nice, and made sure her house was safe for me to come meet my future furbaby. I ended up adopting Jetta (now Winnie!) and she has been the purrfect cat for us. She is adorable, playful, cuddly, and makes our family feel complete. I can’t express how grateful I am for the care ten lives cat rescue gave us to give Jetta a loving home she deserves. Thank you!
I have been volunteering and fostering for tenlives for almost a year. They are an amazing nonprofit that that does absolutely everything for these animals. Most of these cats come from outside or other not ideal situations, with medical issues already presented. As a whole, all of the volunteers go above and beyond to make a difference for the cats in their care. Working with tenlives has made it possible to do what I love to do while making an impact in lessening the amount of cats without homes.
