Drove 5 hours to get a beagle and when we got there and saw the dog, he clearly wasn't all beagle. He had a broad head, huge paws-feet and retriever colors. I asked the owner if she was sure he was all beagle and she said absolutely. She also quoted me $125 on the phone and her assistant told me $150 when I was writing the check. Today the dog is still with me at 74 lbs....ever see a 74 pound beagle? Plus, they wouldn't let us in the shelter. All our business was conducted at my car. Strange huh? Please be careful.

When the owner was still on site and giving the day to day care, I would have given this organization 5 stars. We adopted a 4 yo mixed breed from her about 10 years ago and gave her a wonderful pampered life until she passed about 1 year ago. When our 2 dogs were getting older, 10 and 11, we wanted to adopt a younger small dog so when they passed it wouldn't be quite as hard. Our 1st place to try was Teacher's Pet after the great experience there before. It was like a completely different place. The dogs were crowded, several in crates that were too small for them rather than the decent sized kennels. The owner wasn't there, I later learned she had moved away and was only there about once a week or so. The 2 that she left in charge of all these dogs are not the most reputable. We asked if we could walk one of the medium sized dogs that was in a crate that a miniature breed would barely find comfortable 23 hours a day. We were told that the dogs were only walked once a day after hours. I felt so sorry for those dogs that I wanted to adopt all the crated ones at least. We were denied adoption, not based on anything we ever did, but based on a relative of mine who had an outside dog that the 1 person that the owner left in charge of the rescue disapproved of the care of the dog. She would go onto my relative's property and feed the dog and eventually she stole it. Of course she will deny it and it can't be proved, but I am quite certain that was why we were denied adoption, even though we had adopted there before with no problem. Our dogs are all inside, fed properly, clean, healthy and allowed to run outside in the large penned area of our yard on all nice days and all this to the point of being spoiled. While I feel sorry for these dogs, I no longer recommend this "rescue" to anyone.

Disgraceful practices here. They prefer to regain custody of dying persons pets rather than let good family members have custody. They find it better for a 10 year old dog to be taken out of a loving home and stuck in a cage due to the "contract" they require you to sign upon adoption. It's a pitiful excuse for a rescue and basically a power trip for the owner and her "helpers". Absolutely no formal veterinary training on site, no formal dog training on site, and absolutely no one overseeing this entity. She has no laws to follow other than her own. Beware.

Kris has adopted out hundreds of dogs into loving homes. She has attended workshops and taken online classes dealing with dogs and their care. None of the dogs are outside in inclement weather (except for potty breaks) and all have warm kennels with blankets, treats and fresh water. In the summer the dogs have air conditioning and special frozen dog treats. I have volunteered here for several years.

Great place to find the right dog for you. Kris has nursed many abused dogs back to health. She is passionate about care of the dogs and works constantly to find lovely homes for them. Highly recommend!

This is just another almighty hoarder with a chip on her shoulder. Kris judges based upon her own twisted beliefs and she has no formal educational background in animal caretaking. The community ignorantly pays for this hoarder's way of life. Dogs don't deserve year round kennel life in PA winters that reach below zero.
