TBS has an exceptional story and are led by an exceptionally committed team. Their drive for enabling change - be it solving the nutrition needs of an expecting woman in the pandemic that we are living in or changing the entire course of a backward village's future by building johads that fulfil the agricultural and day-to-day water requirements of the villagers. They make us realise the true importance of water in our lives and their indigenous methods have transformed the lives of entire communities. Their record over the last 30-35 years tells the story itself - where the government had trouble reaching, TBS went. What's infectious is their energy and enthusiasm for taking on headlong this monumental challenge of water - they are able to succeed, year after year, because of the belief they have in what they do and the visible change they witness in the lives of the people everywhere they go.
know Tarun Bharat Sangh (TBS) for 25 years and have been on their Board for two years.
The founder and Chairperson of TBS, Dr Rajendra Singh, a Ramon Magsasay and Stockholm award winner continues to inspire.
Over the years, TBS has been a source of learning and motivation to thousands of people. Their community-led water conservation work has changed the ecology, rejuvenated lands and water resources, revived agriculture and even to a reduction and even reversal of distress migration. Rivers have been revived.
With the knowledge and confidence gained from TBS the It is heartening to see how groups across the country and the world are working towards reviving rivers and connecting people with their water resources. Even after two decades, structures and institutional systems continue stand strong in villages, and are testimony to a model for climate change adaptation and mitigation.
Under the able leadership of Moulik Sisodia, TBS continues to grow in strength as they expand their work on the ground and expand water literacy efforts. Their success in providing ration to 1000-plus families during the lockdown due to the COVID 19 pandemic was heartwarming and extremely important.
Welcome to TBS to exchange knowledge and re-energise yourself and the TBS team.
I am associated with TBS from 2004. This is one of the credible organization working at grass root level. I am free lancing consultant and closely observe many NGO but TBS is different. Their staff are hardworking, committed and highly knowledgeable people. I have carried out many review of TBS projects in Rajasthan and maharastra, their water resources structure are highly cost effective, efficient and sustainable. Their approach for rejuvenation of small tributaries is utmost need of today.
Overall a good organization of good people.
I know Tarun Bharat Sangh from past 10 years. I have seen their work at grassroots level. They have changed the life of most vulnerable communities in India. I would encourage everyone to visit them, learn from them how to revive traditional rain water harvesting structures . The Johards ( rain water harvesting structures) created by TBS and local community are supporting so many families. Tarun Bharat Sangh has done a tremendous work in the field of overall rural development.
I am Renu Sisodia ( researcher, social worker, lecturer). I been part of the Tarun Bharat Sangh for very long time. In different roles I have been engaged with Tarun Bharat Sangh. They are one of the best community organisation in India. They are not only working with communities to rejuvenate their traditional rain water harvesting practices but they are also incorporating new ideas initiated by communities to protect all the natural water resources. Their philosophy of living with nature and giving back to mother earth is a true example of sustainable community development. This organization is led by Rajendra Singh (water man of India), I do not need to introduce him, entire world knows about his contributions and achievements in the community development field. I will finish my comments by saying that he is my inspiration and Tarun Bharat Sangh is just not an organization for me it's a safe space to learn, find support and for some of us it's a family. It's a place where I learnt about holistic approach, loving our mother earth, dedication, commitment and most importantly building relations with communities.
No words can express your hardwork and determination towards your vision sir. Regardless of profits you are trying to improve sone peoples lives. So many things you did for sake of our india. Being an Indian i am very proud for the things you did sir.
The Tarun Bharat Sangh has improved life in many villages of Rajasthan. I am very impressed with TBS's work. Shri Rajendra Singh Ji has done a great job of conserving water.
Tarun Bharat Sangh (TBS), an organisation established by Alwar-based water conservationist Rajendra Singh created localised water-harvesting structures to recharge groundwater. He initially built a small johad, a semi-circular bund (small stone dam) to intercept monsoon run-off enabling it to percolate into groundwater near Rajasthan’s Gopalpura village.
The success of the Gopalpura johad in restoring groundwater levels as well as soil moisture conferred significant benefits for providing safe drinking water and improved food production.
Rajendra singhji is a visionary. His dedicated work on water conservation proves that it is not impossible to reverse the adverse. By giving access to water, Rajendra Singh ji and Tarun Bharat Sangh has given dignified life to thousands of lives and the generations to come
Sri Rajendra Singh ,waterman of india your pioneering effort in water harvesting and manegement created great help to society.
It is not easy work to revive five rivers and get water to 1000 villages that to in desert state rajasthan.
Besides being a ayurvedic doctor, sir did an amazing work to society.
You inspired me a lot sir.
We all know water is elixir of life but we have never understood this and this is reason because of which we do a lot of campaign to stop misuse of water but at last we do it but Sir your work in field of water management is a example for all of us that action doesn't need any partner . Your work in reviving 45000 + johads in alwar and its adjacent distict is truly a miracle and your work in Arvari River is very famous example which is taken whenever there is talk on water management and Sir your plan on ganga panchayat truly a very big step.
And not only this there are many example and thats the reason for your Magsaysay Award a very prestigious award but its also very small in front of your work in water management.
Thank you sir for all your work to this planet And I hope someday I can meet and could have a nice talk with you sir.

Tarun Bharat Sangh (TBS) is a credible, efficient and dedicated non-profit from India which has been enabling communities to live a sustainable life by respecting, rejuvenating and preserving natural resources. Led by the Founder Mr Rajendra Singh, they have done exceptional work, especially in the field of water conservation. TBS has brought a massive change in the life of thousands of marginal and vulnerable communities in the rural areas. I have found the opportunity to work with TBS for the past two years under a European Union-Welthungerhilfe co-funded project aiming at supporting Civil Society Organizations to become self-dependent.
