Mission: Tar river land conservancy preserves the natural and cultural resources of the tar river basin and surrounding areas by working in partnership with private landowners, public agencies and others to protect rural land, riparian corridors and ensure clean water.
Programs: Trlc formally opened the first phase of hiking trails at its ledge creek forest conservation area. The second phase of hiking trail building is underway. Youth conservation corps members, scouts, school groups, and others have been engaged in the building of the new trail network.
trlc purchased 254. 499 acres adjoining possumquarter creek and fishing creek in warren county.

tar river land conservancy achieved its land protection mission through the following actions: 1)completed a project to educate landowners in the tar river basin about the value of forest stewardship plans as a comprehensive guide for managing the resources on a property. Outreach was conducted to over 650 landowners, and using funding provided by the north carolina tobacco trust fund commission, twelve plans were completed by private forestry consultants. 2)hosted four well-attended educational hikes, including our annual field day. The events were held on preserved properties in granville and franklin counties. 3)monitored 88 conservation easements held by trlc. 4)monitored 36 conservation easements held by the state of north carolina. 5)monitored 25 tracts owned outright by trlc.
