One afternoon I was having a typical day with my Fur babies when suddenly one of them became very ill. If you have ever googled anything medical, it's always cancer. No matter what if you stump your toe , it's cancer.
I contacted Elayne Boosler on Twitter telling her the symptoms. She responded immediately with advice. She was thoughtful and comforting. I appreciate her and her love for animals is obvious with all the wonderful work she does with Tails of Joy.
Some years ago my Bedlington Terrier, AJ, suddenly developed a very fast growing tumor on his paw. In only a few days it grew to half the length of the paw. I was (& sadly still am) one of the long-term unemployed & could not afford the necessary surgery. At wits end, I messaged Elayne asking whether she knew of any resources that could help in such a situation.
Tails of Joy paid for 80% of the surgery & saved AJ's life. He went on to live to nearly 16.

Tails of Joy is truly unique in its grassroots approach. As an all-volunteer 501c3 nonprofit, 100 percent of every donation is used to save animals across the country. Elayne's top priority is getting funds directly to where they're needed most, including our small organization, Animal Defense League of Arizona. In 2012, Elayne donated her time and amazing talent for a comedy show benefiting ADLA, which generated many spay neuter surgeries for animals in need. And thanks to Tails of Joy's generous 'Little Guy Grants', we have been able to trap, neuter, and return (TNR) large numbers of outdoor cats and prevent the birth of homeless kittens on our streets.
Elayne brings not only her renowned celebrity platform but also incredible compassion and personal involvement to her longterm goal of saving animals. She’s totally unassuming, transparent, and deeply committed to helping the underdogs—literally and figuratively. Animals and the humans that care for them are beyond lucky to have her.
We retired to a small town in N Fl with a great need. The rescues here subsist on occasional donations and mainly out of the pockets of those who run them. Paws and Claws Pet Rescue of Chiefland, Fl is one such rescue. Their need is so great all it took was a description to receive some MUCH NEEDED medical care for their adoptables via a Little Guy Grant. Elayne and Tails of Joy are a blessing literally across the country and beyond.
Wonderful org that has donated funds to our Boxer Rescue in Central Texas. As I've followed Tails of Joy in recent years, I've been in awe and admired their continued support to saving fur babies of all kinds. Kudos to Tails of Joy for their amazing legacy.

Tails of Joy is an amazing organization!! They help so many small and often forgotten rescues with their Little Guy Grants as well as helping these rescues network on their Facebook page and group and helps them place animals in need. It is just absolutely one of the best animal organizations because they actually help real animals and rescues in need. The have helped us at Critter Camp Exotic Pet Sanctuary many times when no one else would. Tails of Joy is the real deal!!
One always wonders, when wanting to help a charity, does my donation matter to them? Are they real? What /how much actually will be applied to the cause? We do research, but, do we ever really KNOW? I can happily say with full conviction that Elayne and Tails of Joy is the REAL DEAL.
I had a friend, in another state, who helps feral cats, and rescues their kittens to forever homes. She had a new litter that she would be rehoming soon. She doesn't normally do out-state placements because, well, she likes to make sure it is a good home. She was having a very hard time finding a home for 2 of them, and I had fallen in love...finally able and ready to take on a new kitty. The problem was, getting the kitty safely from Reno to Chicago. We tried everything, but timing was tough as our options dwindled finding help....the older they got, the harder it is to find homes if this didn't work.
As luck would have it, our request through "Tails of Joy" for a rescue transport referral turned into a possible donation from them toward transportation...IF we could find someone willing, that we trusted not to put an animal in cargo.
We did finally have someone vetted, willing to fly coach and bring the kitty with them. Since the situation cost the same to bring 2, I gladly took both, saving an additional life to safety.
It all went as planned, and my bonded siblings are my loves. That was 7 years ago. I continue to update my friend on their progress, and donate when I can to the comedian that helped make this a reality. Big or small, all lives matter to her.
We are a nonprofit and we have been struggling greatly to keep our doors open, donations, adoptions and volunteers are at an all-time low. Tails of joy made a generous donation to help us keep our nonprofit rescuing! We couldn’t be more grateful!! This is what Rescue is about!!
Tales of joy has come to the rescue of our rescue more times than I can count. They never ask why they never question the plea they just give, give, give.

I ordered an Elayne Boosler autographed item from "Tails of Joy", and requested it be personalized to a friend. Before shipping the item, I received an email telling me it couldn't be personalized at this time and was asked if I still wanted it.
Someone else could have personalized it and I would have never known. I would have still gotten the real signature but personalized by someone else. That honesty really impressed me.
It let me know that they are an honest charity, and they do everything with integrity and have the customer's best interests as a top priority....right behind the great work they do for small animal rescue organizations.

My puppy was having attacks that would leave him catatonic. I took him to several veterinary clinics and no one could figure out what was wrong with him. I was spending money that I didn’t have. My family was urging me to have him put to sleep. I was devastated and contacted Elayne. She got him an appointment with Doctor Bamford who knew exactly what was wrong and prescribed medication for him. That was in 2020 and my lil guy is on my lap as I write this review. The visit and medication was completely covered by Tails of Joy. I will be forever grateful.

I have been blessed by the support I have received from Tails of Joys for nearly 20 years. I have had two dogs that I was able to function and be happy by having the dogs. I am the founder and sustaining sole benefactor of The Saunders-Watson Private Charitable Fund, which contributes to more than 75 worthy animal rescues, shelters and fundraising entities throughout the year. We are very particular about vetting those who receive contributions from us. and none is more ethical, responsible or selfless in its conduct than Tails of Joy. Its founder, Elayne Boosler, never seeks public recognition for the lifesaving work she does, i.e., raising funds for the most desperate cases of canine neglect and abuse. She has been instrumental in assisting small, underfunded shelters that otherwise might have failed in their worthy missions. This year my fund will be increasing its donations to Tails of Joy, a nonprofit which I regard as being in the top 1/10 of 1% of animal welfare charities.
After being laid off and losing our apartment, I've been struggling to care for the medical needs of my 11-year-old, rescue pup. He has four intact mast cell cancer tumors that I've been treating holistically. The support I've received from Elayne and Tails of Joy is the only reason I've been able to continue giving him a good life. Every day with my sweet boy is a gift, and I'm so grateful to Elayne and Tails of Joy for helping me take care of him.
Tails of Joy is my favorite charity because I love seeing how every penny gets spent helping smaller charities in need. The range of animals that receive aid in any given month is mind boggling: from the dog and cat next door to orphaned dogs in Vietnam to orphaned elephants in Nairobi to helping out someone who doesn't have enough money to pay for their dogs food..... Its nice to know that I am really helping a wide range of needy animal causes when I donate to Tails of Joy.

I live in Nicaragua, and there are good veterinarians, but there are so many animals that have gone uncared for and have not been spayed. I recently adopted two kittens within about a month apart. They came walking out of the jungle and needed a lot of medication and needed to be spayed. They have a slowly joined my other adopted (two) cats and joined the group of animals my neighbor adopted. She has five cats and three dogs. I wrote Elayne I needed help with these costs and she responded and is covering the cost of medication the veterinary fees and to get both animals spayed. I couldn’t afford it without her help. We need a lot more people like Elayne and more organizations like this one, especially here in such a poor country where people really love dogs and cats, but just don’t have any money. This non-profit is like no other I've seen before. When I adopted a special needs dog from the shelter who had been there for over a month, Tails Of Joy helped with food and supplies right away. Though my sweet pup passed away after only a few months, with the help of Tails Of Joy, Jagger was able to enjoy the last few months of his life knowing he was cared for and loved, not just loved by me, but by Tails of Joy, as well.
We adopted our senior female dog named Duckie in December 2022 from an animal care center in Manhattan NY. She was on the list for euthanasia and we saved her! Elayne from Tails of Joy had advertised any dogs adopted December through January would be able to receive assistance such as vets bills, food, a bed and some accessories. I found this out after we adopted Duckie. Tails of Joy is the most GIVING and CARING nonprofit I've ever worked with. Great people doing amazing things!

I am so grateful for 'tails of joy'! I felt their support and concern for the welfare of my newly adopted scared to death dog. It is very helpful to know 'someone has my back' getting her started on the right 'paw.' As a 'senior senior' i am thankful to be involved with courteous and helpful people who provided toys, supplements, food and treats for my little dear as i requested (or sometimes didn't even request) them. They even helped with the expense of a vet visit! Words cannot express my appreciation for their help. Lusha went from one picture - so fearfilled she would NOT even stand to the second picture - filled with joy, confidence and positive expectations. There simply are NO ADEQUATE words to say thank you for such a blessing!
Elayne and all of the family at Tails Of Joy are absolutely amazing in their work and care they give to so many ❤️ We met her through her work with animals that need her at the NYACC. We took in Peach. She had severe entropion in her eyes at 5yrs still. Not only did she offer food, supplies and her support, she helped us to get her eyes done!! She has helped us with our 2 dogs and even provided food for our cats at Xmas time.
She checks in with us all the time, and thanks US!! for helping rescues! She has a heart of gold, her caring knows no bounds, and we are so thankful to have had her involvement in our family and lives. Peach was a shell of a dog and now she is full of life and ecstatic with life in general. Elayne Booster’s Tails of Joy helped countless families adopt animals from NYC ACC this winter by providing food, treats, and supplies. My cat and I were brought together by the generosity of this charity. The food and supplies Tails of Joy was able to supply for my cat gave her a chance to join our family when we otherwise would have struggled to open our doors to an animal in desperate need. I can confidently say the lives of my wonderful cat and our family have been forever changed by Tails of Joy. My rescue cat is doing amazing and has filled our lives with so much love and joy, and we will forever be grateful to Tails of Joy!
Elayne I came to know when she was doing a promo through ny acc dogs. I emailed her with my story and she sent Benny some food and treats. I have been in contact with her ever since. I have emailed her about rescues not doing the right thing. And she has stopped supporting those ones. My Benny is in last stage congestive heart failure and Elayne is always asking how he is doing!! She is an awesome person!! And Tails of Joy is a wonderful organization!! I'm so glad we crossed paths. She is always there when I need someone!! Thank u Elayne for caring about Benny!!! About 15 years ago a dog was brutally attacked and left for dead. When the dog was found alive he was rushed to a vet where he spent three months recovering from a bashed in head, broken jaw and a lost eye due to repeated blows with a hammer!
The monster who nearly killed this gentle sweet creature was arrested and sent to prison, vowing that when he got out he was going to find the dog and finish him off! Blaming the dog for his going to prison.
Not that it had anything to do with him almost killing this dog and then beating his girlfriend to a pulp, requiring an airlift to the hospital!
Elayne heard of this horrific situation and immediately contacted Florida Boxer Rescue, wanting to help in any way she could. Needing to get the dog out of the area she found a woman (nurse by profession) willing to oversee the continued healing process so this boy could recover and thrive and for the first time in his life feel safe and loved. AND he would be living over 1000 miles away in anonymity! No chance this monster was ever going to find him!
So not only did Elayne find an angel nurse to care for this sweet Boxer boy but also arranged for his flight out of town and away from his horrific memories!
Ever since then Elayne (and Bill) have not only been supporters of Florida Boxer Rescue, but have become cherished friends as well.
T.O.J. has been extremely beneficial in helping our rescue (at times) pay bills for pets of the homeless that we help. When our back has been against the wall, they have helped us breathe.
This is a wonderful organization.
Tails of Joy, Elayne Boosler is 100% dedicated and committed to helping animals and animal rescue groups like myself, in order to help save countless lives. When I pulled 17 dogs exposed to distemper, Elayne was there to help with the enormous costs of medical expenses needed to bring all 17 dogs back to health. Elayne Boosler's Tails of Joy has been so kind to my small rescue that helps rescue dogs from Lebanon have the chance to be vetted and travel to Canada to have a chance at a better life. Without this support, many precious souls would still be waiting for their chance, still enduring terrible conditions.
I am ever so grateful for this wonderful human being who I had the pleasure of meeting in person 2.5 years ago on a flight. Little did I know that when she mentioned that she helps small rescues, that I would one day be in need of her support.

These days, when there are so many unethical people who call themselves rescues, I don't feel comfortable donating to just anyone. Tails of Joy is the real thing. Every cent goes into saving animals across the country, and Elayne has been doing this successfully for decades. I wish I had faith in all rescues, but sadly you must do your research.

Tails of Joy is such a wonderful rescue organization......they help from financing emergency surgeries to offering food to those with no money for helping their pets get nourishment. No self-serving entity......it takes care of those that can't afford to be alive.
I do not have any animals as I am highly allergic but I know Elayne well and know how hard she works to sustain Tails of Joy. She has spent her life performing all over the world for any non-profit animal rescue that has asked for her help. Wherever she has performed she has schlepped suitcases full of fun personalized shopping bags, jewelry, keychains charms, etc. to sell after the show to raise money for these non-profit charities. She has been known to stop her car in the middle of the street to pick up any animal that has been hurt and nurse it back to health and be a surrogate parent until that animal is adopted. There has never been a time that we have spoken on the phone that there wasn't an animal in the background. Animals are her life and rescue is for their lives.
I bought my tote bag and have told many of my friends to purchase one - it's the best bag ever - I used it daily - and it makes me feel good that so many people are purchasing the tote! Foundation with a Heart. Helped 17 dogs exposed to distemper at the Apple Valley shelter no one was pulling in December 2021. She financially helped that rescue that I was assisting. The Foundation helps nationwide and in Mexico. She is a woman with a great heart, honest, truthfully and someone you can count on, that is the foundation. It doesn't hurt that she is from Brooklyn.
We were in need of a miracle to continue helping those in need. We reached out to so many organizations, but no replies. Elayne Boosler’s Tails of Joy Helps really help the smallest and neediest rescues. She helped us. Her email was short & simple "Little Guy Grant made. Thanks for all you do. Keep in touch!" We couldn't believe it! We are a small and growing rescue in a city that has huge animal problem. Elayne gave us a chance to continue our rescue efforts with a grant from Tails of Joy. Thank you Elayne from Spring Branch Rescue for giving us a chance.
Elayne Boosler is not only a brilliant, groundbreaking comedian - she is a hero for animal everywhere. Her nonprofit group Tails of Joy helps not only dogs and cats but all animals in need. And as an all volunteer organization, 100% of donations are directed to programs.
I'm a long time volunteer with a small animal protection group in Arizona that provides Trap Neuter, Return services for thousands of outdoor cats each year. Thanks to a generous donation from Tails of Joy, we were able to help many more cats and their caregivers in Arizona.
We are extremely grateful for Tails of Joy's help, and for all that this group does for animals in communities like ours across the country. Thank you, Elayne, for your hard work, dedication, generosity, and compassion for animals and their rescuers.

Desert Dog Project Inc is a non profit located in San Bernardino County, High Desert Region. We get many sick injured and dying dogs recovered after being dumped in the remote deserts. Many have been attacked by other animals and most hit by cars on the highways. We are non breed specific and help any animal that needs our help. We have huge medical bills for weekly surgeries for cancer dogs, seniors, eye injuries and many broken hips and legs. Tails of Joy has blessed us several time with generous donations that have saved the lives of many sick pets, abandoned pets and hoarding situations with many pets in danger.
We are so grateful to their help and their caring hearts for the animals who have been forgotten by society.
We have a rescue dog because of Tails Of Joy. They saved our Henry. They have helped countless of Dog and cats find loving forever homes. They have helped countless people with pet food, medicine, and veterinary bills when they couldn’t afford it. They are truly the best for helping dogs and cats. We have the best dog in the world because of them.
I've had great admiration for this non-profit for years. I think it was back in 2006 or 2007 when I found a lost Golden Retriever in the Sunland area. I needed a referral to a vet who could check for a chip and somehow was given Elayne's email address. I was/am a huge fan of her comedy, but tried to be cool and business-like. (Can't recall, but probably failed at that.) Her response was immediate and I took the dog to a nearby vet to be scanned. Over the years, I've become more involved as a rescue volunteer and I've learned more about Tails of Joy. I'm extremely impressed with everything they do. And now I'm an even greater Elayne Boosler fan. (BTW, the lost dog was chipped but never claimed and ended up adopted by a firefighter and EMT who had a Weimaraner and an acre of land. We should all be so lucky.)
Elayne, Bill, and their supporters are tirelessly devoted to animal welfare. Integrity and ethics are wall-to-wall and up to the ceiling.

Elayne Boosler is the real deal, a true animal advocate with a big heart! I'm so happy to support, in any way I can, the great work she does. I've purchased a few of those really cool canvas bags as gifts and they were a big hit with friends. Years ago, she helped me find a rescue group to take an abandoned white boxer dog that I found roaming in Griffith Park. I'd also like to mention that she is one funny lady and sometimes a sense of humour is what you need to get you through from one moment to the next.
Without the help and love of Tails of Joy, a beautiful Cane Corso named Luna would not be alive and thriving today. I cannot say enough good things about this organization. At the age of two, Luna was abandoned by her original family because of costs and because she was showing some minor aggression issues due to severe neglect. If she had ended up in a shelter there would have been little hope for her. But when I learned of her situation, I reached out to many rescue organizations in Los Angeles, many claiming to specialize in Cane Corso rescue and no one got back to me. No one except TAILS OF JOY! In one phone call, Elayne Boosler, the organization's founder, committed fully to Luna. She understood the situation even better than I, and knew that helping Luna and finding her a new home might take some time, which did nothing to sway her commitment. Luna needed eye surgery, vaccinations and a spay, Tails of Joy was there for her! Luna needed dedicated training to get her ready for adoption, Tails of Joy was there for her! There has never been a moment in her recovery that Tails of Joy and Elayne have not been there for Luna (and me) and because of this dedication, Luna, one year later, is now doing incredibly well and is ready for her forever home. This organization is by far the BEST nonprofit I have ever worked with and it is my honor to tell the world about Tails of Joy!
Elayne with Tails Of Joy has been so kind in the past In helping us with some much needed kitten/cat food and vet expenses. When we were completely out of milk and food for some kittens that were trapped Elayne stepped in and donated so we could go to the store and purchase what the new kittens needed!
She also helped my Aunt's pitbull in Mexico needing immediate surgery for a cancerous growth. I can’t say enough amazing things about Elayne and her rescue, they are just the most generous kind hearted people who really help animals and caretakers in their hour of need! Always adopt a rescue furbaby to save a life!
Light in the darkness. A double dose of life-saving help from Tails of Joy when beloved Lilith, the boxer/lab was diagnosed with bone cancer in her 11th year. (All animals are worth saving, but this girl- world traveler, therapy dog, genius-- was amazing. I, her "person," a senior myself, had no choice: chemotherapy could help extend her life and I could see she had a lot of life left. Of course I would! But where to find the over-the-top funds? Was even willing to stand on streetcorners with a tin can., but it didn't come to that because of Elayne, who not only pitched in with desperately needed cash so I, the senior, didn't have to give up eating or heating for a year, but did it FAST, so I could stop worrying. She gave two of us a sweet year together and I am forever grateful.
Extremely dedicated and personalized! Tails of Joy helps the neediest animals in the most dire situations find amazing homes, get the medical treatment they need, and have the lives they deserve. Elayne is one of the most passionate animal rescuers in the world, and her organization continues to improve the lives of every animal and animal lover it comes across.
This is the best non profit! They really have their hearts in everything they do to help dogs and cats and other animals who need help and to help them find there forever homes. They help all the animals from all over the United States. They are truly amazing beautiful people. They definitely deserve this recognition!
