The work of SAMS restores my faith: SAMS provides direct care amidst unimaginable atrocity while the world looks away. I support SAMS because my heart breaks for Syrians and the suffering they continue to endure. It is the least I can do. SAMS is one of the very few non-profits helping the most needy and the most ignored in the world. I am happy to support their mission.
I first heard about this great organization through reading a Yahoo news article and I was very pleased to find an organization that was dedicated to helping those in Syria and the Syrian diaspora. They've also been active in helping those that were in need in other emergencies all over the world. Not only are the effective with medical emergencies and needs but their organization is very transparent and have kind and informative staff like Susan who answer all questions and concerns that anyone has. There are definitely many problems, disasters and conflicts worldwide but SAMS will always have a special place in my heart as a sympathetic source of help to the Syrian people, refugees, and to those in need. I encourage everyone to help out wherever and whenever they can.

As a periodontist, I had the privilege of volunteering with SAMS Medical to provide dental services at the Al Zaatari camp in Jordan. The experience was both humbling and uplifting. Dr. Rousanna and the entire SAMS team were incredibly helpful, ensuring that everything was well-organized from start to finish. The mission was not only about providing care but also about healing the spirit. It was a much-needed break from the daily routine and a reminder of how fulfilling it is to give back to the community. The entire experience was safe, despite being in such dangerous areas, thanks to the meticulous arrangements and hard work of SAMS. I encourage everyone to try it—there’s no greater reward than helping those in need. SAMS made this experience truly memorable with their outstanding coordination and dedication.

The SAMS Foundation incredible, inspiring work has been featured on CBS: 60 Minutes, which really captivates the work ethic behind the life saving medical care provided by the dedicated doctors, staff, volunteers, etc. The work behind the mission is extremely important and life changing to both the beneficiaries and the doctors, as their work results in an indescribable feeling that one gets when they help a fellow human being, uniting them based on their shared humanity!

The Syrian American Medical Society Foundation is highly dedicated to helping its beneficiaries within its designated regions and abroad. For the SAMS Foundation, this year had multiple emergencies and disasters, which were responded to swiftly and effectively. Namely, in February 2023, Syria and Turkiye experienced a large 7.8-magnitude earthquake, which largely impacted many of the SAMS Foundation's beneficiaries as well as workers. More recently, in September, Morocco experienced a large 6.8-magnitude earthquake, which shook the city of Marakesh. Shortly thereafter, Libya experienced catastrophic flooding due to a storm in the Mediterranean Sea, impacting thousands of people. Despite all of these difficulties, the SAMS Foundation was able to provide exceptional life-saving medical services (which is demonstrated by the low operating costs in order to expedite care to those most in need)! The employees of the SAMS Foundation have gone above and beyond to secure funding, gifts, grants, etc. all in order to help those in need!

An absolutely amazing nonprofit organization that has given much needed humanitarian medical aid to people in need!
I have been following SAMS loyally since attending an event in NYC in 2012. As a senior citizen facing, like most seniors, varying medical issues, I have been grateful to have available excellent medical opportunities. It’s hard to fathom the struggle of seniors Syrians living in war ravaged areas or displaced out of country CD to get the medical assistance that many of us take for granted. What would they do without SAMS? And that’s just the medical aspect of life challenges for Syrians. Thankfully, SAMS has notified us of efforts to tackle mental health issues only intensified by the recent earthquake. The physical and mental suffering by Syrians is overwhelming. I salute their bravery and resilience and am honored to keep supporting SAMS.
Three weeks ago I joined SAMS medical mission to Jordan in the aim of providing medical relief to Syrian refugees and other underserved communities.
It was one of the best experiences of my life.
The effort that was put by the organizers are of a high quality ensuring we can provide necessary help to whoever needs it. Many life changing surgeries were done funded by the fundraising SAMS does every once in a while.
This was an amazing experience and I would definitely do it again with them.

I had my first volunteering experience in October 2019. It was a shor mission but so intens I won´t forfet it in my entire life. Since my arrival in Jordan, the volunteers team and the whole organization made me feel as I had been there for all my professional life. The convivence was better and betterr as the time was passing by. No matter mybackground,because I was the first spanish doctor ever been with them, that received all the both professional and personal support I needed anytime. Eventhough the task is hard, it was a very rewarding adventure, the contact with the refugees was really moving,but every day, when I finsih the day I understood that, at least tey had received I piece of hope, withhin their huge and indescriptible catastrophe. I'm looking in coming back a new mission. I feel really attached to this cause, it pais off, Join the mission if you can or helpthe medicaldeployement, you will keep a piece of the refugees heartwith you for ever.

I knew nothing of the SAMS Foundation when I started giving on a monthly basis in 2016. My faith in humanity had been shaken by a well-known photograph of a Syrian boy and I just knew I had to do something. The Foundation had been suggested as a vehicle of long-distance financial assistance by my daily newspaper and I chose to place my confidence in nothing more than the printed word. That confidence was not misplaced. During the intervening six years, I’ve learned much about the programs and compassion which drive the Society. I couldn’t have made a better choice than to support their essential and ever-expanding programs for civilians caught up in conflict, especially children. Their medical teams, first-time-responders and other caregivers repeatedly place themselves in harm’s way on behalf of the innocent people of several nations. My only regret is that I can’t give more.

SAMS have been providing medical help in places where there is a dire need for help. It's projects were life saving for thousands of people. With SAMS transparency and sincere desire to make a difference, they were able to bring people together for the goal of alleviating pain of the needy.
I have been an active volunteer with SAMS for about 4 years now; I am a registered nurse, family nurse practitioner student, and a United Nations consultant. I had the honor to go on several medical missions with SAMS in countries like Jordan, Lebanon, and Greece. Despite language barriers, various professional backgrounds and multiple nationalities, volunteers worked with an inspiring sense of unity to provide medical care to refugees. The medical mission trips helped reinforce what role I want to take on in the world. I learned that experiences like this define who I am, as a nurse, mentor, friend, daughter, and most importantly as a human being. I am the nurse I am today because of SAMS and support they have provided me during the early stages of my career.
I've always admired the work and efforts of SAMS. They go beyond the call of duty to help people in Syria and the refugees in neighboring countries when so many other organizations have avoided these areas due to the instability and danger. Even when things escalate, they don't back down and find ways to deliver aid and medical relief. I always look forward to attending their conferences to see the progress that they've made and the lives they've changed.
I have worked with a locally run College organization called students organized for Syria to help raise money for SAMS. I promoted the club at the SAMS conference this year and I was really inspired by their work and mission statement. As a graduate student I hope to continue my work with Sams and hope to volunteer with them over a mission in the future.
SAMS is a beyond the call of duty group. I first saw them on a PBS Special around 2:00 am in the morning. What first caught my eye, was that a Doctor Teramini, from my hometown, Steubenville, Ohio, flew into Syria, one of a number of doctors from different locations to operate on some of the wounded of the bombing of Syria. These doctors give of their own free time to help out with the people of Syria. I am still in awe of the Syrian people, who have been through so much war, put in makeshift camps, do without food and water and watch their children be put through so much strife in their young lives but keep putting one foot in front of the other and continuing with a positive attitude. I want to help them all that I can. Please consider giving a monthly donation to these so deserving people. when we can social distance a little better, I will have a get together in my apartment (like a soup) to benefit he Syrian people) Every night I say a mindful meditation, To the Syrian people, may you feel safe and protected, May you be peaceful, and may you live at ease and with kindness. SAMS continues working in the background in Syria in spite of the terrible ongoing war situation. Its doctors and nurses struggle against dangerous odds to maintain vital medical facilities and services to desperate people struggling to survive. Some of its hospitals have been bombed, forcing SAMS to establish secret clinics that are often underground. Thousands of vulnerable Syrians would be left even more at risk without SAMS' presence. SAMS, along with the White Helmets are the only beacons of help for war-battered Syrians. Long may they continue to stand with Syrians!

I’ve been volunteering with SAMS to Turkey Lebanon and Jordan’s missions over the last seven years. It was always very uplifting and inspiring missions that I decided to keep on attending as long as possible. It takes a lot of efforts from dedicated staff to organize for those missions and I found it to be very helpful for both the volunteers and the people who are in desperate needs in the underserved refugee camps.
As a medical doctor, I participated in seven SAMS medical missions in Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey. I observed first hand the impact of Sams commitment to serve the Syrian refugees as they provided direct medical care for acute and chronic illnesses. I felt personally the joy and appreciation in the eyes of the receiving refugees and their families. Visiting the refugees camps, observing their miserable conditions and providing medical, educational and basic needs of the refugees add a nice humane touch that made many refugees feel they aren’t forgotten.
